Chapter 25: 《One Piece: Magma of Absolute》Chapter 24: Patrolling the Four Seas
On the violently rocking warship—
Sakazuki stood firm on deck, watching the apocalyptic spectacle unfold before his eyes.
"The power of a natural disaster..."
Though this eruption was partly his doing, Sakazuki had only guided the event. The true force at work was the might of nature itself—something no human could ever truly command.
He gazed in silence at the doomsday scene, a quiet sigh escaping his lips.
With his current strength, destroying an island wasn't out of the question for Sakazuki—but the scale and method were worlds apart. A Logia user's power depended on their own stamina; he could annihilate an island with a few full-powered Meteor Volcano barrages, smothering the land in magma until nothing survived. But that was just surface destruction, and it meant little to true monsters.
To erase an island completely, to wipe away all trace of its existence with a single underwater volcanic eruption—no Devil Fruit could achieve that.
Even a king like Rocks, who stood unbowed against eight of the world's strongest, was reduced to ash and swallowed by magma beneath the wrath of heaven and earth.
The island, now buried in magma, began to collapse and sink.
BOOM!
With a deafening roar, a hundred-meter-wide hole burst open in the magma-covered land. A golden shockwave shot skyward, piercing the clouds.
Eight figures leapt from the crater, weapons drawn and facing off for a tense moment—then split into two groups, each vanishing east and west.
When Sakazuki saw the golden pillar, he knew that was where Sengoku and the others were.
He ordered the navigator to head that way.
When the ship reached the edge of the magma flow, he halted. Channeling his power, Sakazuki conjured two colossal magma hands, each the size of a warship. Their outer layer, cooled and solidified, wouldn't harm the hull.
The giant hands gripped both sides of the ship, arms raised high. Magma surged beneath them, carrying the vessel swiftly toward the golden light.
Aboard the Oro Jackson—
The Roger Pirates crew, except for the three who'd joined the great battle, had been busy plundering the island's treasure.
Spencer, his long ponytail swinging, set down the last chest with a sigh.
"Whew—what a shame. We didn't have time to grab it all."
The island was already collapsing, doomed to destruction.
The rest of the crew chimed in:
"Yeah, there was still a mountain of treasure left!"
"Even if we could take it all, our ship would never hold that much."
"Such a waste."
"My heart aches so bad I can't breathe..."
"Totally."
Just then, three figures appeared in the distance. Roger led the way, shouting:
"Yaro-domo! (Oi, you lot!)"
"Set sail!!"
The crew saw their captain's excited call and erupted in cheers.
"Yeah!!"
...
Back on the Oro Jackson—
Roger stood at the rail, looking back at God Valley.
Suddenly, something caught his eye.
"Hm?"
He turned to the pile of treasure heaped on deck.
"Where'd all this come from?"
Spencer answered, "We grabbed it from God Valley. What's up, boss?"
Roger didn't answer. He walked over, reached into the pile, and pulled out a chest.
He grinned, then flipped it open.
Everyone's eyes went wide.
"Huh?!"
"No way!"
"This is..."
They stared at each other in disbelief—none of them had sensed the presence of a child.
Even Rayleigh looked surprised. He hadn't noticed anything before Roger opened the box.
But then realization dawned:
"It's the chest. That material blocks Observation Haki."
A flash of awe crossed his face.
Roger nodded. "Yeah, but this kid's special too..."
Maybe it was his ability to hear the voice of all things, or maybe something else...
A small smile played at Roger's lips as he reached in and gently lifted—
—a red-haired child, sleeping soundly.
Elsewhere, Sengoku and the others made their way from the ruined island.
Moments later, they saw two gigantic magma hands, carrying a warship, racing toward them.
"What's that?"
"Is that... Sakazuki?"
When the ship drew near, it stopped. Everyone leapt aboard.
The massive magma hands carried the warship out to sea.
"Fleet Admiral, Admiral Sengoku, Vice Admiral Garp," Sakazuki greeted each in turn. But when it came to the other two, he simply wore a puzzled expression and said nothing.
He knew they were Five Elder Stars, but no one else knew that he knew—so he could only keep quiet, feigning confusion.
"Sakazuki, these two are the Five Elder Stars of the World Government," Kong said, catching the look and making the introduction.
"Five Elder Stars, sirs," Sakazuki said, face stern and formal.
The Five Elder Stars had heard of Sakazuki—the most promising of the new generation of Marines. Upright, ruthless, uncompromising. They nodded, offering faint smiles of approval.
Cruelty wasn't a vice in their eyes. The seas were about to erupt into chaos, and only iron-fisted methods could keep the filth in check.
"Sakazuki, what about the other pirates? Casualties?" one of the Five Elder Stars asked.
Seeing their satisfaction, Kong felt a surge of pride. He adjusted his tone and inquired about the situation outside.
"Among the pirates—Shiki, Edward Newgate, Charlotte Linlin, and some mid-level officers from the Rocks Pirates escaped, along with several others from the New World. Five ships got away in total."
"As for casualties—"
"The Buster Call fleet lost seven warships, with 323 dead, 1,246 seriously wounded, and 3,485 lightly wounded."
"We haven't finished counting losses from the Four Blues branches yet. So far, we've only managed to recover 874 wounded."
Hearing that only a few hundred survivors had been found from the Four Blues branches, the ship fell silent—everyone except the two Five Elder Stars wore heavy expressions. Sakazuki felt it too.
Knowing the numbers was one thing; saying them aloud was another. By the end, Sakazuki could barely force the words out.
The atmosphere was stifling.
"Kong, make a list of the fallen soldiers. Their families are to receive five times the usual compensation. If their descendants join the Marines, they're to be given special treatment."
The burly Five Elder Star broke the silence, issuing orders with practiced smoothness.
He didn't care for the lives of "commoners," but the right words had to be said—everyone here was a seasoned player. You didn't reach this level on power and status alone; you needed brains, too.
"Yes, sir."
Sea Circle Calendar 1484. Rocks was defeated and killed at God Valley.
The once-mighty Rocks Pirates fell apart.
The remnants who escaped recruited new crews, continuing to stir chaos across the seas.
On the Marines' side, certain details were omitted from the reports. Instead, they loudly trumpeted the great battle at God Valley.
Vice Admiral Garp was hailed as a hero by the world and by his fellow Marines—a guardian of peace.
That same year, with the Four Blues branches suffering heavy losses—
Sakazuki volunteered to patrol the Four Seas, vowing to hunt down pirates.
