Chapter 41: World Government & Marines, Alucard and the Roger Pirates
In the presence of both Marine and World Government high-ranking officials, the two monsters clashed.
What followed was a shocking sight: Nemea the saber-toothed lion, whose hide was normally impenetrable to ordinary attacks, was instantly defeated by the grotesque, inhuman creature's sharp claws.
The creature's sharp claws pierced Nemea's skin and internal organs. In less than two minutes, everyone watched as Nemea's massive body collapsed, clearly dead. After tearing open Nemea's belly, the monster began to feast on its flesh and blood, then roared skyward, as if still unsatisfied.
Just as Kong grew increasingly curious about this mutated monster, Vegapunk proactively explained, "This creature, which I've temporarily named 'The Contender,' was created from the mutated corpse of a North Blue general that the World Government sent me previously."
"The person infected by Pirate Hunter Alucard's ability?" Kong still had some recollection of the incident and blurted it out.
"Ah, yes, that's right," Vegapunk said with a helpless expression. "Test subjects capable of enduring these attack cells are incredibly rare. Even among the few animals that succeeded, very few survived for more than thirty minutes."
"Finally, my arduous application was approved by the World Government. Only after obtaining several prisoners from Impel Down's Level 4, who were deemed suitable test subjects, was I able to complete the experiment. Then, through a series of improvements, I achieved these results."
Vegapunk spoke without inhibition. While such experiments severely violated human ethics, the World Government's approval was all that mattered.
"How many of these monsters have you created?" Kong asked gravely.
"There are six of this particular grade. If they were to have bounties, I estimate they'd be around 60 million Berries. The remaining successful animal experiments are at least on par with that of Nemea the saber-toothed lion, with bounties ranging from 20 to 30 million, totaling eleven specimens. Lastly, sixteen sea birds were successfully infected and transformed into similar monsters. In terms of combat strength, they might not even reach the 10 million level, but they are arguably the most difficult to deal with, as they can fly freely at extremely high speeds."
Vegapunk excitedly showcased his successful experiments to the assembled group, then added with a hint of regret, "But unfortunately, I've found no way to reproduce those experimental cells. Creating this many was already my limit."
Vegapunk walked to a nearby table laden with experimental equipment, tapped it, and after a long moment, chuckled, "So, would it be possible to bring that Pirate Hunter Alucard here?"
"Wait," Kong suddenly interjected with a cold tone. "I also need to ask you, you cannot freely control these monsters, can you?"
Vegapunk didn't hide it. "That's correct. Once successfully infected, while they won't attack each other, they become monsters with an extreme thirst for blood. They feel no pain, or rather, they are completely indifferent to it. They also possess regenerative abilities that heal wounds by devouring blood, quite similar to that pirate hunter named Alucard."
Vegapunk paused, then continued, "If we release them in an area where pirates are about to arrive, what do you all think would happen?"
Observing the solemn faces of those present, Vegapunk directed his gaze primarily at Kong, then sneered, "Fleet Admiral Kong, isn't the Roger Pirates a nuisance right now? What do you say, would you like to conduct an experiment?"
Kong's eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you suggesting..."
...
Marine Headquarters.
Several hours later, Kong received the latest intelligence on the Roger Pirates. According to their current trajectory, the Roger Pirates were about to reach Long Ring Long Land, followed by Water 7, then the Sabaody Archipelago, and further on... the New World.
Kong slammed his fist onto the desk and immediately issued an order: "Implement the plan! Vice Admiral Garp, Vice Admiral Sakazuki, and Rear Admiral Kuzan are to deploy. They will conduct an experimental subjugation operation against the Roger Pirates. Their primary mission is to protect Vegapunk's scientific research team to complete the experiment. The subjugation of the Roger Pirates is secondary!"
After giving orders regarding the Roger Pirates, Kong turned to the World Government representatives. "Alucard is a pirate hunter and is not on any wanted list. How to deal with him is a matter for the World Government; the Marines will not interfere."
"Understood. We will report this," the three CP0 agents said after receiving Kong's instructions. They then turned and departed for Mariejois, the residence of the World Government's highest authorities.
The next day, Garp received orders to lead Kuzan and Sakazuki to ambush the Roger Pirates at Long Ring Long Land. This time, however, the mission prioritized the scientific research team, and more importantly, safeguarding the genius scientist Vegapunk.
Meanwhile, the World Government also initiated its own operation: Dracula D. Alucard was to be "invited" by the World Government's secret organization, CP7.
