One Piece: Alucard the Immortal

Chapter 30: The Pirate Who Rips Off the Most

Avalo Pizarro was a truly unique pirate. It's fair to say that anyone with an exceptionally high bounty, enough to etch their name into history, possessed their own distinctiveness.

Pizarro was the captain of the Evil Gang Pirates and enjoyed plundering treasure.

However, unlike typical pirates who'd burst into a rich person's home and loot it, Pizarro preferred to first capture the local Marine base, severing communication between the local Marine branch and Headquarters.

Then, he'd take control of the entire city and slowly uncover where all the significant wealth in the city was hidden.

While this method took more time, it often yielded enormous sums of money, enough to rank him among the "most successful robbers" on any pirate leaderboard.

Of course, there were no impenetrable walls in this world. Even with control over a Marine branch, news would inevitably leak out.

Marine Headquarters regularly received situation reports from its various branches. If there was a prolonged lack of reports, Headquarters would dispatch Marines to investigate.

Pizarro perfectly exploited this timing, escaping on his ship at the very last moment before Headquarters' reinforcements arrived, having already thoroughly plundered the city.

This practice of dominating local areas earned him the moniker "Corrupt King."

The city Alucard currently stood in, now known as Miares, the City of Sin, was acquired by Pizarro using his most favored method.

However, he had controlled this place for several months now, and based on Pizarro's experience, Marine Headquarters was likely about to send an investigative force. Given that Miares was a large city, they would probably dispatch a Marine Vice Admiral or higher.

Pizarro had no desire to directly confront the Marines. In fact, apart from the Yonko-level pirates, no pirate crew would foolishly charge forward when encountering Marine forces; they all employed evasion tactics. Pizarro was no exception; he was planning his escape.

Pizarro's "Corrupt King" moniker also stemmed from the structure of his subordinates. With "King" Pizarro at the very top, his underlings were divided into five high-ranking subordinates: "Duke, Marquis, Earl, Viscount, and Baron."

Similar to the division captains of the Whitebeard Pirates, Pizarro had a total of five main cadres.

In total, the Evil Gang Pirates numbered around three hundred.

In this era, before the Great Pirate Era officially began, only the Whitebeard Pirates and the Flying Pirates could boast more members than Pizarro's crew.

After occupying the large city of Miares, Pizarro's pirate crew's combat strength expanded once again, bringing their total crew size to four hundred.

"Hey, who's that guy?"

Alucard's presence on the streets of Miares attracted considerable attention from the members of the Evil Gang Pirates.

Due to Pizarro's influence, common citizens were too terrified to leave their homes, especially during the day.

Those brazen enough to walk freely on the streets, aside from the Evil Gang Pirates themselves and other pirate crews, were mostly the small-time thugs who had dared to extort Alucard earlier.

However, since the Evil Gang Pirates were the dominant power in the city, other pirate crews and ordinary thugs alike paid tribute to them, meaning they handed over a portion of their earnings. Thus, they mostly recognized each other.

Alucard's strikingly conspicuous attire, by all accounts, should have been unforgettable after a single glance. Yet, the Evil Gang Pirates on the street had never seen Alucard, suggesting he was a new pirate or merchant who had just arrived on the island.

"Hey, kid, there's a new rule in Miares: when you meet a member of the Evil Gang Pirates, you hand over half of your total cash." Two pirates blocked Alucard's path.

Since his aura certainly didn't resemble that of a merchant, they instinctively took Alucard for a pirate.

As for pirates, Pizarro tried to avoid fighting them during his control of the city; he didn't want Marine Headquarters or other branches to know about his occupation.

Generally, if you paid half the sum, they'd let you go. If you didn't, they'd simply teach you the terror of the "Corrupt King."

"Interesting pirates. This is my first time encountering such," Alucard said, his lips curling upwards as he reached into his coat. The two pirates initially thought Alucard was reaching for money, unaware that he was actually going for his gun.

Just as Alucard's hand, holding Casull, was about to emerge to give the two boys a bullet, a loud shout suddenly came from an intersection across the street. "What are you two bastards doing? We're setting sail! The Marine Headquarters' investigation unit is on its way!"

The two pirates turned their heads upon hearing this. It was a minor leader from their Evil Gang Pirates; they themselves were just the lowest-ranking pirates.

"B-but we were just about to get some money!" the skinny, gray-haired pirate complained, vexed that he had finally "robbed" someone.

"Damn it, I don't care about you two. I'm leaving now. If you want to get caught by the Marines, waste your time there!" The Evil Gang Pirates' minor leader cursed and quickly departed.

Seeing their leader leave, the two low-ranking pirates also became anxious. After muttering, "You got lucky, bastard," to Alucard, they quickly followed their leader and fled.
