One Piece: Alucard the Immortal

Chapter 31: The Two Gun Wielders

Seeing the two minor pirate thugs flee in a hurry, Alucard smiled faintly, not bothering to shoot them in the back of the head. He had a better target: Corrupt King Pizarro.

This was his first encounter with a pirate boasting a bounty over 100 million, and even one exceeding 200 million.

A 200-million-Berry bounty in this era utterly dwarfed Luffy's 300-million-Berry bounty after Enies Lobby.

The direction the small-fry pirates fled in was Miares' North Blue port, while Alucard's ship was docked at the West Pier. They weren't in the same harbor, which was likely why he hadn't seen Pizarro when he first arrived.

Pizarro didn't control islands like the Whitebeard Pirates. To be precise, occupying an island, or even a city, wasn't so simple.

The Great Pirate Era hadn't yet begun, and the Marines held a relatively dominant position. Even Golden Lion Shiki, known for his ruling style, commanded a fleet to conquer the Grand Line.

Playing at island rule was something only pirate crews with incredibly exaggerated power could achieve, and it was often a thankless task.

In the future, Whitebeard would only allow his flag to be used to deter war, as with Fish-Man Island; it was merely a deterrent, ultimately not much use.

After Whitebeard's death, another Yonko, Big Mom, lent out her flag in exchange for candy.

This was more of a transaction than true rule.

Crocodile and Doflamingo's actions in Alabasta and Dressrosa, respectively, were true forms of rule. However, they both had clear objectives: Pluton and establishing their bases.

More importantly, they had the privilege of being Warlords. Without the power of a Yonko or the privileges of a Warlord, a pirate's desire to rule a city was almost a pipe dream.

Pizarro understood this. He hadn't reached the level of Whitebeard or Golden Lion Shiki. For a city, he would simply drain its value and then flee before the Marines arrived. He was cunning and intelligent. Thanks to this method, he had accumulated enormous wealth along his journey.

"Captain! News just came in! A Marine Vice Admiral from Headquarters is heading this way!" At Miares' North Blue port, a subordinate reported the situation to Pizarro.

"Then hurry up and move! Lads! Prepare for retreat! Once we reach the next city, we'll party hard!"

"Awoo!"

Hearing their captain's words, the many pirates excitedly raised their hands and roared.

Pirates of this era were like this. Compared to the multitude who would chase after the One Piece in the future, most pirates simply enjoyed the free life of abusing others and gaining wealth without effort.

While not strange, it did lead to the emergence of many idiotic pirates, much to Alucard's displeasure.

BANG!

Piercing through the air in an instant, Pizarro's innate combat intuition caused him to swiftly raise his hand. The large gauntlet on his left wrist blocked the bullet, but the bullet embedded itself deeply into his gauntlet. Although it didn't hit his flesh, its immense power forced Pizarro back two steps.

"Oh~ Not many people can block that shot." Alucard slowly emerged from another path on the dock.

"Who are you, nya?"

The moment Pizarro spoke, Alucard couldn't help but laugh.

This tall, burly man with a messy beard and long hair spoke with such a strangely effeminate tone. That was one thing, but what made it even harder to hold back laughter was the "nya" at the end of his sentence.

The strong sense of incongruity made Alucard burst into laughter.

Hearing Alucard's laughter, Pizarro's face twisted into a sneer. The subordinates who were busy loading cargo onto the ship shuddered.

Pizarro despised anyone mocking his voice. In their hearts, they had already branded Alucard with the label "dead man walking."

WHOOSH!

In the blink of an eye, Pizarro appeared before Alucard, unleashing a heavy punch.

Seeing this, Alucard raised his hand to block. Their arms collided, and for a moment, Alucard's trench coat flapped wildly from the powerful burst of wind pressure, and a large crater formed in the ground.

Alucard's other hand pulled out Casull and pointed it at Pizarro's forehead, while Pizarro also drew a large-caliber pistol from within his leather overcoat, pointing it back at Alucard.

BANG!

BANG!

Both fired simultaneously. Alucard aimed for the head, while Pizarro aimed for the throat.

"Armament... Haki."

Feeling the bullet obstructed, Alucard immediately recalled his fight with Zephyr in Flevance.

Back then, Zephyr also blocked his bullets with Armament Haki without a scratch. But upon closer inspection, while Pizarro's forehead was also blackened, the bullet had still embedded itself into his flesh, drawing blood.

This was not only because Casull's power had increased since then, but also because Pizarro's Armament Haki couldn't compare to Zephyr's.

On the other side, Pizarro was even more astonished, staring in shock at the bloody hole his shot had created in Alucard's throat. Half his neck was gone, and he was still fighting as if nothing had happened?
