Chapter 29: Corrupt King Avalo Pizarro
In the world of pirates, skilled gun users were rare, though pirate crews did have the position of "sniper."
Examples included Usopp's father in the Red-Haired Pirates, members of the Blackbeard Pirates, Whitebeard Pirates, and even the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, who used firearms.
What Alucard remembered most vividly was Zephyr's pistol, crafted from Seastone bullets. However, all these individuals used guns as auxiliary weapons, not as their primary means of attack.
"A city of sin, you say? I like that name. Does that mean anywhere in this city, you're all the same caliber of trash?" Alucard cocked Casull and began to spray bullets throughout the tavern.
Watching his subordinates explode one by one, Nimitz finally couldn't suppress his fear and roared, "He's just one man! What are you waiting for? Shoot! Shoot!"
The initial thirty men, by the time they regained their composure, were reduced to just over a dozen. Many prepared to aim again, but before they could even raise their guns, bullets had already pierced their hearts, throats, or even brains.
Could anyone wield a gun that quickly?!
"Hooo~~"
Alucard exhaled heavily, pressing Casull against Nimitz's forehead, and chuckled, "Perfect. I have a new ability I've been wanting to test."
Alucard waved his gun-free left hand in front of Nimitz.
In Nimitz's eyes, the hand wearing a white glove glided past, like a form of hypnosis, making his gaze become unfocused, his pupils dilated.
He was clearly under control.
Charm, Alucard's new ability, possessed powers extremely similar to hypnosis.
Alucard had once used it on an 8-million-Berry pirate when he first entered the Grand Line, but the target broke free after only a few seconds.
This suggested that this move was likely effective against those with weaker willpower, in other words, ordinary people.
As for Nimitz, he felt like nothing more than the leader of a scam syndicate, without any real power, just an ordinary person who happened to carry a gun.
Alucard easily controlled him with Charm.
"Who really runs this city?"
The controlled Nimitz stammered, "The... the Corrupt King..."
"The Corrupt King... Avalo Pizarro. He's... he's a 230-million-Berry... pirate captain of the Evil Gang Pirates. Three months ago, he secretly took over this country..."
"I see. You've been through a lot." Alucard pulled the trigger, instantly splattering Nimitz's head.
Alucard walked to the liquor cabinet behind the bar, examining the types of alcohol inside while pondering Nimitz's words.
It wasn't particularly strange for pirates to occupy a city.
Crocodile in Alabasta and Donquixote Doflamingo in Dressrosa both used their Warlord privileges to occupy a country.
However, this pirate named the Corrupt King didn't have the privileges of a Warlord. His actions would undoubtedly attract the Marines. But Nimitz had mentioned that Pizarro secretly controlled this country. Did that mean the Marines didn't know about this yet?
"Boss Nimitz, did you take care of that kid? There was nothing on that ship..."
The blond-haired group who had attempted to rob Alucard entered, intending to loudly question Nimitz, but the moment they stepped into the tavern, their group's base, the scene before them left them utterly speechless.
In a blood-soaked hell, only a man in red stood behind the bar, selecting red wine from the liquor cabinet.
Alucard slowly turned around, and with him, the muzzle of Casull also turned.
"Your liquor here is all low-grade stuff," Alucard chuckled softly, pulling the trigger and instantly blowing a hole through the blond-haired man's forehead.
"You... you..."
No one expected that the supposed easy target would suddenly transform into a fierce tiger and devour them completely.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Gunshots continuously echoed from inside the tavern.
Those who heard the gunshots likely assumed it was another unlucky newcomer to the island being robbed by Nimitz's gang, never imagining that the ones being wiped out were the gang themselves.
Several minutes later, Alucard emerged from the tavern, seeing that he hadn't gained much, other than learning that this was a city controlled by a pirate.
To control a city, and as a pirate not a Warlord, he must be quite capable and worth meeting.
But what the hell are the Marines doing here?
As Alucard walked through the streets of Miares, he discovered many interesting things.
Despite being such a large city, there weren't many pedestrians on the streets. To be precise, most people walking outside looked like unsavory characters.
On second thought, it made sense: in a place controlled by pirates, without Marine protection, those who could leave would have already fled. Those who couldn't escape were likely confined to their homes, trying to figure out a way out.
In such circumstances, only Pizarro's subordinates and other pirates would dare to walk brazenly in the open.
