Chapter 4: Escape

There was only one way to escape Uzushiogakure safely without being captured or prosecuted by the enemy.

"Hiroki, do you know how to summon an animal?" asked Raiken.

"Yes, but how could one animal possibly help us?" Hiroki asked, confused.

Raiken didn't answer immediately. Instead, he asked another question.

"What type of animal can you summon?"

"A crow," replied Hiroki.

"Crow?" Raiken echoed. He was familiar with the creature, but unlike toads, crows weren't known for their intelligence or ability to perform complex techniques like reverse summoning.

He turned to another shinobi nearby. "What about you, Kenshiro? Can you summon an animal too?"

"Yes. My summon is a toad," Kenshiro answered.

Raiken's eyes narrowed. "Wait—Toad? How did you get access to toad summoning?"

As far as Raiken remembered, only Jiraiya had ever signed a contract with the toads, and that power had later passed to Minato and eventually to Naruto. Jiraiya's connection to the toads was unique—he hadn't found them, they had summoned him to Mount Myoboku themselves.

"It was an accident," Kenshiro explained. "I was practicing fuinjutsu when I accidentally formed a different contract and ended up in Mount Myoboku."

Raiken nodded slowly, piecing the puzzle together. "Toads... Unlike most summonings, they are the most intelligent, especially when it comes to fuinjutsu."

Kenshiro was taken aback. He hadn't expected Raiken to know so much about the toads—perhaps even more than he did.

Suddenly, the barrier around them cracked, shaking violently under the relentless assault from Kumogakure's shinobi. The Uzumaki civilians inside the barrier turned pale as panic spread like wildfire.

"Arata! Erect a new barrier—now!" Raiken barked. "Kenshiro, can you summon your toad here?"

"Okay," Arata replied quickly, unrolling a scroll and forming hand signs to reactivate the barrier.

"I'll do it," said Kenshiro. He bit his thumb and slammed his hand onto the ground. A puff of smoke later, a massive yellow toad appeared inside the barrier.

Gamaryohi blinked and looked around, startled looking at the Shinobi outside the barrier. "Kenshiro? What's going on?"

"We're under attack. Our Uzukage needs your help," Kenshiro said, pointing to Raiken.

"Uzukage?" Gamaryohi turned toward the man. "You're the Uzukage?"

"Yes. The reason I asked Kenshiro to summon you is because we need your help with the Reverse Summoning Jutsu," Raiken explained.

Gamaryohi expression shifted as he immediately understood the plan. "So... you intend to escape using reverse summoning?"

Kenshiro eyes widened as the realization hit him. Of course, summoning jutsu can bring people from another place instantly, that was the same method that had accidentally transported him to Mount Myoboku. Now, if Gamaryohi could do the reverse summoning, it could be used to save them all.

The civilians, who had previously been confused by the sudden summoning of a toad, began to understand. Murmurs spread through the crowd as hope sparked in their frightened eyes. Perhaps there was still a chance to survive.

"Yes. Can you do it? Can you bring all of us to Mount Myoboku?" Raiken asked, desperation creeping into his voice. This was their final chance escaping this place.

"I can, but... bringing everyone will be extremely difficult," Gamaryohi admitted.

"What do you mean by difficult?" Raiken pressed.

"The maximum I can carry safely is five people. Beyond that, the summoning might become unstable and send them elsewhere," Gamaryohi explained.

Raiken frowned. "What about other toads? Can they help?"

"My father can manage up to ten people," Gamaryohi replied.

"Good. Then can every toad assist with reverse summoning?"

"We can, but look at the barrier. It won't last long. And we can't perform reverse summoning all at once. We use the same seal, so we have to go one at a time," Gamaryohi warned.

Gasps filled the air. Everyone who heard this began to panic. If they could only escape one group at a time, it meant those who went first would be saved—while the rest remained behind, vulnerable.

"No—there must be another way!" someone shouted. Raiken turned to Gamaryohi. "What do you mean by 'five people safely'? What determines the risk?"

Gamaryohi looked serious. "When we perform reverse summoning, the connection to the target must be maintained. The further the distance from my body, the weaker the seal, the greater the risk."

Hiroki , who had remained quiet until now, suddenly stepped forward. His eyes lit up with a new idea as he looked toward Kenshiro. "Wait... we have that seal."

"What seal?" asked Raiken.

"This barrier can be modified. It will act like a branching network that connects the chakra of every person inside it," explained Hiroki.

Raiken stared at Hiroki. In such a short amount of time, he had already conceptualized a completely new seal in his mind.

"Are you sure this will succeed?" asked Raiken.

"Yes. The seal will be named Renketsu no In," said Hiroki.

---Black and White Zetsu---

Although Madara had awakened the Rinnegan, his body was far too weak. The situation left a bitter taste in Black Zetsu's mouth. Even if Madara died, he still needed someone who would willingly use the Rinnegan and become the Ten Tails' jinchūriki in order to bring his mother back.

Fortunately, Madara had unknowingly played right into his plans by plotting to kidnap one of the Uzumaki Clan member.

Their task today was to save at least one family from Uzushiogakure and prevent them from falling into Konoha's hands. But what they saw shocked them: every single Uzumaki civilian was gathered inside a massive barrier, completely surrounded by shinobi from other villages.

"Make sure to save them. We cannot afford to lose them all," ordered Black Zetsu.

"Okay, but the barrier is stopping us from getting in," replied White Zetsu.

"Don't worry. The barrier will collapse eventually. We just need to wait for the right moment to strike," said Black Zetsu.

Minutes later, something unexpected happened. The Uzumaki shinobi performed a summoning jutsu, calling forth a giant toad. The shinobi outside the barrier immediately readied their weapons. The moment the barrier fell, they planned to attack the toad.

Black Zetsu watched without blinking. His mission was clear, save at least one family from the Uzumaki clan.

But in an instant, they all vanished.

The barrier collapsed and everyone inside it had already disappeared from the island.
