Naruto: The Senju Patriarch

Chapter 98: Heavenly Judgement

"All of you, focus on sealing the Jinchuriki away - I'll deal with the Mizukage. Go!"

Katsuro hadn't expected that the Mizukage would arrive so quickly, but he always knew it was a possibility - that's why he made sure to deal with the Six Tails rapidly. It would've been a pain to deal with both at the same time, especially given the Mizukage's Ice Style Kekkei Genkai, which he had inherited as a member of the Yuki clan. Although, according to village intel, this Mizukage was weaker than his predecessor, any Kage level Shinobi was no easy opponent. Katsuro didn't want to make a spectacle of the fight - he would do this similarly to how he dealt with the Third Kazekage.

The Mizukage attacked again, sending yet another barrage of ice shards towards the Uzumaki's, who, again forcing Katsuro to counter with an overpowered Fireball Jutsu. This is wasting chakra, Katsuro thought. His ice is far stronger than typical Water Styles, even for a Kekkei Genkai. I don't want to keep having to use a lot of chakra either, especially after sustaining Susanoo no Mikoto and using Flying Raijin for so long - I need to protect the Uzumaki's with something.

"Earth Style: Gaia's Hand!"

A gigantic dome emerged from the ground, surrounding the Uzumaki's - the dome was strong, and it was in the shape of a hand, covering the Uzumaki's entirely. The inspiration partially came from the Earth Dome Jutsu, but that wasn't a defence. This Jutsu was an original that Katsuro made specifically for situations such as this, where he would need to protect a person or group of people at the same time as fighting independently.

Just as Katsuro had hoped, the defence stood strong against the Mizukage's attack, only shaking slightly. Katsuro grimaced slightly. For now, it'll do, but I need to end this fight quickly. Gaia's Hand won't last long.

"Fire Style: Cry of the Vermillion Bird!"

The attack went straight to the Mizukage, who was currently hovering on a platform of ice, forcing him to defend with an ice dome. The two jutsus interacted in a sizzling flash, resulting in the ice dome becoming half melted.

Hmm, water's dripping around the Mizukage. Well, in that case…

"Fire Style: Cry of the Vermillion Bird!"

"Lightning Style: Raikiri!"

The attack was perfect - the second Vermillion Bird melted the ice dome even more, despite the Mizukage trying to reinforce it, and the Raikiri's lightning electrified the melted water, forcing the Mizukage to abandon ship.

Wait, he didn't just make another? Why?

Katsuro's mind thought back to his fight with Onoki, the Third Tsuchikage. Back then, it required a lot of chakra to back himself elevated. Even the Third Kazekage's Black Wings Jutsu required immense chakra too - this is probably the same. And not just that - the Mizukage came from the Kumo front. There's a high chance he was directly engaging the Raikage too - he's definitely tired too, but I have way more chakra than him. In that case, I'll go on the offensive.

With blinding speed, Katsuro advanced on the Mizukage, swinging his dual blades, and the double strike was just blocked by ice. Katsuro continued, however, using his speed and power to deliver as many attacks as he could, forcing the Mizukage to defend with his Ice Style each time, and slowly but surely he noticed it - the Mizukage's slowing down. Soon enough, he'll gather his chakra for one final attempt.

Katsuro was exactly right. The Mizukage conjured another ice dome, allowing him to focus for a second, before withdrawing the dome, as he yelled:

"Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals!"

Around Katsuro, countless mirrors appeared, in the shape of a dome, trapping him inside.

"Fire Style: Cry of the Vermillion Bird!"

It was futile. This ice was far stronger than the ice before, and even an original A Rank Jutsu wasn't enough to faze it.

Suddenly, Katsuro instinctively dodged. He turned for a moment to look backwards - it was a group of senbons, lying scattered on the ground.

Huh?

He turned back to the mirrors, and almost audibly gasped in surprise. In each and every mirror was an image of the Mizukage, all of them holding senbons.

Shadow Clones? No - they can't be in the ice itself. Then what is it?

"Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Katsuro made as many Shadow Clones as he could without losing too much chakra, hoping to buy himself some time. As expected, the mirror images seemed to all attack again, causing many of his Shadow Clones to be hit and poof. This repeated many times, but it was going to plan. The original Katsuro had been carefully observing the ice mirrors, and with his observations and the experience of his Shadow Clones, he knew what was going on.

The Mizukage's moving crazily fast between all the mirrors - that's why it's so hard to track - the images are actually afterimages, because It's basically near instant, like Flying Raijin. But slowly, I'm getting used to it. Yes, Katsuro thought, as he finally dodged the senbons intentionally. I can track it! Now…

Pouring even more chakra into the Susanoo no Mikoto than normal, Katsuro charged at a specific mirror with all his might.

"Lightning Style: Raikiri!"

Under the speed of the Susanoo no Mikoto and the power of the Raikiri imbued on his sword, the mirror shattered, and with it, the rest of the dome, sending the Mizukage flying.

I knew it! Katsuro thought. Now, the Mizukage's definitely -

Katsuro's thoughts were interrupted as the Mizukage roared, sending yet another barrage of ice shards towards him, which Katsuro promptly melted. Upon closer inspection, the Raikiri had seriously injured the Mizukage - he was bleeding from his gut profusely, and that, combined with his severely depleted chakra, meant it was almost certain he would lose. Even so, the Mizukage continued to fight on, despite his chakra exhaustion, sending barrage after barrage of ice shards.

Still fighting, huh? Seems like I underestimated your willpower, Mizukage.

"Surrender, Mizukage. You know you've lost. Surrender, and we can negotiate later. There is no need for a leader such as yourself to die here."

But Katsuro's plea fell on deaf ears, and the Mizukage just roared even louder, and kept on going. Sighing, the Patriarch prepared to deliver the final blow.

Suddenly, however, Katsuro noticed something. Between all the fire, ice and water, something had happened - there was a thunderstorm that had formed above them.

Wait… I wonder if…

Katsuro raised the dual Kiba swords to the sky, and extended his Lightning manipulation to them, infusing them with his chakra trying to reach the skies. The swords crackled with lightning, and so did the clouds above.

Katsuro felt it before it happened, and he leapt high into the air with the power of Susanoo no Mikoto, his dual swords raised to the sky as the Lightning responded to his call, attracted to his own lightning on the conductive swords.

Lightning crackled in the sky, and descended onto the blades. The Mizukage sensed what was happening and desperately gathered chakra and ice, but it was futile.

"Lightning Style: Heavenly Judgement!"

Katusuro swung the sword in a downward slice causing a large pillar of Lightning to descend onto the Mizukage, who had created a dome of ice above his head, pouring whatever chakra he had left into it to make it as dense and wide as possible.

But the pillar of lightning still tore through it, as if unhindered, burning and melting it before completely covering the Mizukage with no hope to escape in the large radius with him in the middle.

It truly looked like the Heavens themselves had descended, imprinting themselves directly on the earth with the Mizukage who just happened to get in the way.
