Chapter 361: Chapter 361: Can You Fly Just by Moving Your Hands?
Shinki hadn't lied to Kushina. He genuinely intended to leave the Cloud Village as soon as possible. He had seen the sights, eaten the food, and bought the souvenirs. There was no reason to linger.
While he was happy to move on, the Cloud Village wasn't as pleased. Their resources were being strained with the constant surveillance required to keep an eye on him and his group. Openly or covertly, ninjas were assigned daily to monitor their activities.
Konoha would have reacted similarly if foreign ninjas decided to stick around too long. A short visit for tourism? Welcome. An extended stay? Suspicious and unwelcome.
When the Raikage learned of Shinki's plan to travel to the Land of Earth and Iwagakure, he quickly arranged for Dodai to escort them out, ensuring a polite but firm send-off.
The Journey by Sea
From the Cloud Village, traveling by sea to the Land of Earth was more convenient than trekking overland. Despite being slow and a bit monotonous, the boat ride offered its own charm—at first.
For the girls, their first time crossing the ocean was an exciting novelty. However, as the hours passed, the excitement faded, replaced by the less pleasant realities of sea travel.
The cramped cabins, limited movement, and constant motion made even simple tasks like eating and sleeping a challenge. To make matters worse, seasickness soon set in for Mehu Hyuga.
Kushina, watching her friend turn pale and weak, grew increasingly worried. "Shinki, what do we do? Mehu looks terrible!"
Mehu, a member of the Hyuga clan, had delicate, fair skin—what some might call "cold white skin." Normally, she appeared radiant, but seasickness had drained her of color. Her pallor was so extreme that the veins beneath her skin were clearly visible.
"It's just seasickness," Shinki reassured. "She's uncomfortable, but she'll recover once she's off the boat."
Kushina wasn't convinced. Seeing Mehu's misery, she began to panic.
"Forget it," Shinki said after some thought. "We'll fly instead."
Taking to the Skies
Shinki picked up Mehu and brought the group onto the deck. Kushina, expecting him to summon his puppets for flight, was taken aback when he instead manipulated gravity and lifted them into the air.
"Don't resist. I'll carry us all there," he explained.
"What?! You can fly on your own?!" Kushina exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock.
Shinki shrugged. "It's easier this way. Why bother using puppets when I can just do this? Besides, it's not that hard—just move your hands."
Kushina's jaw dropped. "Move my hands?! Are you serious? Why can't I fly when I move my hands?!"
Uchiha Mikoto, who had been silently observing, couldn't suppress a chuckle. Even the Nine-Tails, watching from Kushina's sealed space, muttered in irritation: "Show-off."
Unlike most ninjas who could only dream of flying, Shinki made it look effortless. His mastery of gravity manipulation allowed him to not only fly with ease but also carry others without breaking a sweat.
The group soared over the ocean, cutting their travel time from several days to just a few hours. Despite the initial shock, the girls couldn't help but marvel at the experience. Kushina's excitement eventually overshadowed her frustration.
By the time they reached the Land of Earth, Mehu had recovered from her seasickness. The group set up camp and rested for the night before continuing their journey to Iwagakure.
Entering the Land of Earth
The Land of Earth's stark landscape was immediately apparent. Bare, rocky terrain stretched as far as the eye could see, devoid of vegetation or charm. Compared to the lush forests of Konoha or even the deserts of the Land of Wind, it was bleak and uninviting.
"There's nothing interesting here," Kushina muttered. "Let's just get to Iwagakure and move on to the Land of Wind. At least the desert will be something new."
The rest of the group agreed. The barren scenery of the Land of Earth held no appeal, and they decided to skip sightseeing and head straight to their destination.
A Rocky Welcome
As they approached Iwagakure, their presence didn't go unnoticed. A patrol team from the Rock Village spotted them and quickly reported back.
"Captain, there are several suspicious individuals heading our way!"
"Stop them immediately!" the captain barked.
"But…sir…" one of the scouts hesitated. "They're from Konoha. And one of them is Shinki…"
"What?!"
The patrol captain's confidence faltered. Shinki was not just any ninja—he was a senior figure in Konoha and head of the Anbu. His unexpected arrival in the Land of Earth raised questions, but it also made confrontation tricky.
Swallowing his nerves, the captain approached Shinki. "Excuse me, but do you have an important mission in the Land of Earth?" he asked cautiously.
Shinki smiled calmly. "No mission. Just a visit."
The captain was taken aback. "A visit? To Iwagakure? Just like that?"
Kushina, unable to contain her amusement, whispered to Mehu, "Looks like they don't know what to do with us."
The captain, flustered but unable to act aggressively, decided to escort the group to Iwagakure under strict observation. With the infamous Shinki at the forefront, they couldn't afford to take chances.
