Chapter 357: Chapter 357: Entering the Cloud Ninja Village with Great Fanfare
In the Land of Wind, the Third Kazekage, had little interest in the ongoing political turmoil across the ninja world. His primary concern was mining to pay off debts and sustain the Sand Village's economy. When news of the assassinations in the Land of Fire and the mass exodus of nobles to Konoha reached him, he barely gave it a second thought.
It wasn't until Chiyo sent an urgent message that he returned to the village.
The Sand Village
As soon as he entered, the Kazekage confronted Chiyo. "You're saying the Wind Daimyo and his nobles have come to the village and want to stay for a while?"
"Yes, Lord Kazekage," Chiyo replied, her expression unreadable.
Chiyo had been busy in her laboratory researching puppetry when the Sand Village administration begged her to step in and handle the situation. With the Kazekage preoccupied in the mines, she had little choice.
the Kazekage paused, then burst into laughter.
"Excellent! This is perfect!" he exclaimed.
The recent war with Konoha had ended in a truce, but in reality, the Sand Village had suffered significant losses. The Wind Daimyo, displeased with the outcome, had cut financial support, leaving the village in dire straits.
But now, with the Wind Daimyo running to the Sand Village out of fear, the Kazekage saw an opportunity. If the Daimyo wanted safety, he would have to pay—and generously.
A Ripple Effect
The fear among nobles spread quickly across the ninja world. Many from smaller nations also fled to nearby ninja villages, seeking refuge.
However, the Land of Water remained unaffected. The Mist Village, embroiled in internal conflict between the Mizukage's faction and Yagura's opposition, was too dangerous even for its own Daimyo. The chaos there overshadowed any external threats.
Shinki's Journey
Meanwhile, Shinki and his group had left the Land of Iron and were heading toward the Land of Lightning. Their destination? The Cloud Ninja Village.
"Shinki, is it really appropriate for us to go to the Cloud Village like this?" Kushina asked nervously.
She had assumed their trip to the Land of Lightning would involve sightseeing and relaxing. But Shinki's intention to visit the Cloud Ninja Village had caught her off guard.
With Shinki's status as the head of Konoha's Anbu, his presence in another major ninja village was bound to raise alarms.
"Why wouldn't it be appropriate?" Shinki replied nonchalantly. "We're entering as tourists, not spies. The Land of Lightning encourages visitors to spend money and enjoy their natural beauty. We're just here to play, nothing more."
Kushina, Uchiha Mikoto, and Hyuga Mehu exchanged bewildered glances.
"Think about it," Shinki continued. "We're coming openly, not sneaking in. If they have suspicions, that's their problem. Besides, the Cloud Village can't detain us—they wouldn't dare."
Shinki's confidence left the girls speechless. Not only was he planning to visit the Cloud Village, but it was merely the first stop on a grand tour of the five major ninja villages. After the Cloud Village, he planned to visit the Rock Village, Sand Village, and even the Mist Village—despite its ongoing civil war.
"Is Master Shinki serious?" Kushina whispered to Mikoto. Both could only shrug, equally dumbfounded by his audacity.
Cloud Village: Raikage's Office
In the Raikage's office, an assistant entered, carrying an urgent report.
"Lord Raikage, we've received intelligence that requires your immediate attention," the assistant said, handing over the document.
"What is it?" the First Raikage asked, lifting a dumbbell as part of his training.
"Konoha's Anbu chief, Hyuga Shinki, has entered the Land of Lightning. He is accompanied by several others and is heading toward the village. They are expected to arrive within a day."
The Raikage froze mid-lift, his eyes widening in disbelief.
"What?" he barked, dropping the dumbbell. It crashed to the floor with a loud thud, leaving a deep crater in the ground.
The assistant winced. "Lord Raikage, please—this is the third time this month…"
Ignoring the assistant's complaint, the Raikage leaned forward. "Konoha's Anbu chief is coming here? What's his purpose?"
The assistant shook his head. "He claims it's a personal visit, not a mission. He's traveling as a tourist."
The Raikage snorted. "Tourist? Does he take us for fools? No one in his position just 'visits' another village. Double the patrols and prepare for their arrival. I want eyes on them at all times."
"Understood, Lord Raikage," the assistant replied, bowing before leaving the room.
