Chapter 425: Chapter 425: Hagoromo and Hamura
Walking into the luxurious wooden courtyard, Shishou settled Kaguya into a chair while he began preparing a meal in the yard.
"What are you doing?" Kaguya asked, frowning as she watched Shishou go about his tasks.
She noticed that this man did not seem to treat her with the reverence her other servants did. Instead, he acted according to his own whims, a stark contrast to the way her servants behaved, always bowing and scraping in her presence.
Taking out his cooking utensils and seasonings from a storage scroll, Shishou replied matter-of-factly, "What else? I'm making dinner."
If he wanted to bring the lofty goddess Kaguya down to the mundane world, the best way was to let her experience the joys of ordinary life.
"Boring," Kaguya commented dismissively, turning her gaze away.
For someone who had consumed the God Tree's fruit and gained immortality, eating was a pointless activity. Even before consuming the fruit, she rarely ate, and when she did, it was only energy-rich fruits.
However, she needed Shishou to help track down Otsutsuki Isshiki, and since he seemed unafraid of her, she decided not to object to his actions.
As Shishou busied himself, he asked, "Kaguya, how do you usually spend your time?"
"Watching the sky," Kaguya said slowly, reclining on the chair and caressing her belly.
The chair Shishou had crafted was exceptionally comfortable, easing the strain of her protruding stomach.
As a naturally long-lived being, Kaguya spent her idle time either sleeping or staring at the sky in a daze.
"Don't you find other things to do?" Shishou continued to inquire.
Kaguya glanced at him, "Boring."
Okay, this conversation isn't going anywhere, Shishou thought, resigning himself to silence as he finished cooking while Kaguya continued to gaze at the sky.
Soon, Shishou laid out several aromatic dishes on the table beside Kaguya.
"Kaguya, have some," he said, offering her a bowl of rice.
Kaguya remained indifferent, saying, "I don't need to eat."
Shishou, undeterred, began eating his meal and said, "But eating can reduce your chakra consumption."
Kaguya had an almost pathological obsession with chakra, making this the perfect argument to persuade her.
Kaguya paused, then sat across from him, awkwardly picking up the chopsticks. Having never eaten a proper meal, she had no practice using chopsticks.
Seeing her struggle, Shishou gently took her hand and showed her how to use them.
Taking her first bite of the meat, Kaguya froze.
The taste was surprisingly good!
At least it was much better than the God Tree fruit she had eaten before.
With her initial positive reaction, Kaguya started sampling the other dishes.
Before long, the meal Shishou had prepared was completely devoured by the two of them.
Kaguya returned to her reclining chair, continuing to observe the night sky, while Shishou cleaned up.
Afterward, he approached her and tentatively placed his hand on her swollen belly.
Given their earlier hand-holding, Kaguya didn't object to his touch. Instead, she asked, "How can I get this thing out? I don't know how to give birth."
The swollen belly was indeed uncomfortable for her.
Shishou stroked her rounded abdomen and said, "You can try separating them."
Following his advice, Kaguya placed her hands on her belly and pulled outward, causing two brilliant energy balls to appear in her hands, which then transformed into two pale, naked infants.
"Uh..." Kaguya was startled, quickly withdrawing her hands.
Reacting swiftly, Shishou caught the two infants in his arms.
Looking down at the babies, Shishou felt like he was in a dream. The scene reminded him of the Chinese myth of Nuwa creating humans from clay.
Nuwa created humans from clay, while Kaguya created them from chakra balls.
Kaguya observed the infants in Shishou's arms, frowning.
At this moment, she felt no affection for these two little beings.
In fact, she thought they looked rather ugly...
"Chakra?"
Sensing the chakra within the infants, Kaguya extended a finger towards one's forehead, intending to reclaim it.
To Kaguya, that chakra was hers...
These little creatures were thieves who had stolen her chakra...
Seeing her action, Shishou was alarmed and hurriedly fled with the babies.
Kaguya retracted her finger, her expression emotionless.
She had acted impulsively, but Shishou's reaction reminded her that these two little beings were indeed her children.
Watching Kaguya, Shishou breathed a sigh of relief.
It's not uncommon for new mothers to feel detached from their newborns at first. Gradually, as they spend time together, feelings will develop.
Though Kaguya currently felt nothing for Hagoromo and Hamura, based on her tearful reaction to touching Naruto and Sasuke in the original series, she did care deeply for her sons.
However, Kaguya's use of humans to feed the God Tree would inevitably cause a rift between her and her sons. In this matter, Shishou sided with the two sons.
Using his Wood Release, Shishou created two cradles for the babies. Then, he took out a prepared bundle of baby supplies and began wrapping the brothers in towels, asking, "Kaguya, what names will you give them?"
Reclining on her chair and gazing at the sky, Kaguya said casually, "Hagoromo and Hamura will do."
Nodding, Shishou labeled the darker-haired baby with a small tag on his ankle: Hagoromo.
He did the same for the other baby, labeling him: Hamura.
Without such labels, he suspected Kaguya wouldn't be able to tell them apart.
After this, Shishou asked Kaguya, "How do you plan to take care of them? Do you have baby formula, clothes, or shoes?"
Since Kaguya didn't give birth naturally, Shishou wondered if she even had breast milk.
Hearing his questions, Kaguya frowned.
She had no knowledge of how to care for children and found it bothersome and time-consuming.
Looking at Shishou, she said expressionlessly, "You will take care of them."
Shishou was taken aback. "Why?"
He still needed to find Otsutsuki Isshiki, search for the Dragon Vein, and research ways to return to his original time with the Great Slug Sage.
He had no time to care for two little brats, even if they were the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo, and the ancestor of the Hyuga clan, Hamura.
"Didn't you say you're my future husband? Isn't this what you should be doing?" Kaguya replied earnestly.
