Chapter 11: 11. Raiden vs Guy

With the right amount of weight training, Raiden could now train even while walking. His body would be strengthened every second of the day.
And what was the greatest advantage of a Zoan-type Devil Fruit?
Physical enhancement!
Raiden had gone from being a wheezing couch potato who would be out of breath after walking a few extra steps to someone who could single-handedly lift a two-meter-tall boulder.
Of course, that was thanks to his brutal daily training regimen But the true MVP was, without a doubt the Devil Fruit! And what were the two defining traits of an ox?
Power and endurance!
After leaving the ninja tool shop, Raiden didn't return to Izumi's sweet shop right away. Instead, he headed toward a training ground within the village.
He still had about an hour before dinner.
That was more than enough time to test out his new weighted gear.
"As expected of gear made for the Might Guy it's perfect!"
The weights strapped to his arms and legs were designed to adjust based on limb size. Once locked in place, they fit seamlessly against his body.
As for the vest, it was originally tailored for Guy's physique But that didn't matter.
Guy wore it as a cropped vest, exposing his abs. Raiden? It fit just right, covering his upper body completely.
"Let's give it a try!"
BANG! BANG!
Raiden took a wide horse stance, planting himself firmly. Raising his fists, he fired off two straight punches. Each strike landed on the wooden training post, the impact sending dust flying into the air.
With 200 pounds of weight on each arm, every punch now carried significantly more force but also burned through his stamina faster.
A flicker of excitement flashed in Raiden's eyes.
This was good stuff!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
After 100 consecutive straight punches, Raiden finally stopped. Exhaling sharply, he took a half-step back.
"Now, let's try sidekicks!"
Another 100 kicks, each strike powerful and precise, slamming into the wooden post. His legs felt heavier, and each kick took more effort But that was exactly what he wanted!
"Not bad. Three months of this, and my physical stats will level up again!"
Raiden flexed his arms, admiring the weighted gear strapped to his limbs.
The 30,000 Ryo was money well spent!
...
Meanwhile, outside the training ground…
Underneath a large tree, Guy stood stunned, watching the young boy relentlessly hammering the wooden post.
"I thought walking around in that weight was already his limit… But he just threw 100 straight punches and 100 side kicks without breaking stride?!"
"Is this kid a monster?!"
Guy was no stranger to intense training.
In terms of genjutsu and ninjutsu, he was below average But when it came to taijutsu, he had absolute confidence that he could outclass anyone.
After all, he had undergone hellish training since childhood.
It had taken him over a decade to finally reach the point where he was ready for 1,000-pound weights But this kid who looked like he was still in the lower grades of the Ninja Academy was already doing this kind of training?!
Guy was so absorbed in his thoughts that he didn't notice a dried branch beneath his foot.
SNAP!
"Who's there?!"
Raiden immediately turned his head, locking onto the large tree where Guy was hiding.
"Apologies, I didn't mean to interrupt your training."
Since he had been discovered, Guy didn't bother hiding. Instead, he stepped forward confidently, his presence radiating fiery determination.
As a Jōnin-level ninja, he could have vanished in an instant But he chose not to. Because he wanted to talk to this little taijutsu monster.
"Oh, it's you. Thanks for earlier at the tool shop."
Raiden recognized Guy immediately but he couldn't let that show. He had to pretend he didn't know who Guy was.
"This weighted gear really suits you."
Guy shook his head, smiling as he walked closer. He wasn't someone who cared about trivial matters.
A thought suddenly flashed through Raiden's mind. When it came to taijutsu, the man before him was undoubtedly the strongest.
His chakra control was horrible.
Even after all this time, he had only managed to learn Substitution Jutsu.
Meanwhile, genius prodigies like Uchiha Itachi had probably already mastered Shadow Clones.
Raiden wasn't skilled in ninjutsu or genjutsu. His only path was taijutsu, after all; his Zoan Devil Fruit enhanced his body.
And if that was the case…
"You're good at taijutsu, right?"
Raiden asked, his tone serious.
"Hm?"
Guy blinked in mild surprise before nodding.
"Well, I suppose you could say that…"
"I know you could probably defeat me instantly…
…But I still want to try."
Raiden's gaze sharpened.
His pupils burned with battle intent. To Guy, fighting a little kid wasn't exactly exciting.
At first, he had just been curious this boy was training under 1,000-pound weights!
But now…
Raiden's fighting spirit was so strong that Guy couldn't help but be drawn in.
"What reason is there to refuse a challenge from an unyielding spirit?!"
"Let us sweat together and engage in a YOUTHFUL battle!"
Guy spread his legs, settling into a deep stance.
His left hand clenched into a fist at his side, while his right was raised in front of his signature battle posture.
His mouth stretched into a grin—
Revealing perfectly straight white teeth…
DING!
A brilliant shine reflected off his teeth, nearly blinding Raiden's black-metal bull eyes!
"Here I come!"
Raiden inhaled deeply, resisting the urge to make a sarcastic comment. With a powerful push-off, his body exploded forward.
A bullet-like blur charging straight at Guy!
"Not bad speed!"
Guy nodded approvingly.
Of course, for him, it was nothing special.
But for a six-year-old?
Impressive!
WHOOOSH!
Raiden leapt forward, converting his momentum into a straight punch.
A direct, no-frills attack!
Guy, calm and composed, extended his hand. Fingers spread wide, he turned his fist into a palm.
BANG!
The punch landed squarely in Guy's palm.
Yet, Guy's body didn't budge an inch.
"So strong!"
Raiden wasn't surprised that Guy had caught his punch But to do it so effortlessly without even the slightest tremor in his muscles?
That stung.
At least flinch a little, damn it!
"Take this!"
Gritting his teeth, Raiden planted his foot, twisting his torso into a spinning sidekick!
WHOOSH!
A powerful gust of wind surged toward Guy's flank.
"Your strength is good but your technique needs work." Guy instantly analyzed the flaw.
Raiden's biggest weakness was a lack of technique.
After all, he had only trained straight punches and side kicks. That was nowhere near enough for true taijutsu combat.
Instead of blocking, Guy dodged. With a quick forward tilt, he used his height advantage to ram his shoulder forward.
BANG!
Raiden was launched into the air.
He flipped twice before crashing into a wooden post.
"Pffft! Ptui!"
Spitting out dirt and grass, Raiden climbed back up, his head still spinning.
"Damn, he probably only used his small amount of strength…"
"This guy is a total beast!"
