Chapter 10: 10. Konoha’s Proud Blue Beast
---
The unmistakable kappa-style watermelon haircut, the thickest eyebrows known to mankind, and the blindingly bright green jumpsuit.
This man was the eternal embodiment of youth, the super hot-blooded teacher, Konoha's Proud Blue Beast Might Guy!
The man who nearly ended the series with a single kick, Might Guy!
This was Raiden's first time seeing the legend in person and his impression? As expected he lived up to the name!
This radiance, this blinding light…
So dazzling!
Forget titanium-alloy dog eyes even Raiden's pure black, heavy-metal ox eyes were about to be blinded by this man's presence!
In the world of Naruto, Raiden only truly respected one and a half people and standing before him was that one person Might Guy!
Lacking the natural talent to become a ninja, yet through sheer perseverance and relentless effort, he has carved his own path to power.
Such a man was worthy of admiration and respect.
THUD!
The ninja tool shop owner and a muscular worker emerged from the back, carrying a massive iron box.
Even though they tried to set it down gently, the sheer weight still made the ground tremble upon impact.
Raiden, standing by the entrance, felt himself momentarily lifted off the ground from the shockwave.
"Here's your order. Custom-making this took a lot of effort, you know!"
The shop owner smiled as he pointed to the heavy iron box.
"Hahaha! Finally! Thank you so much!"
Guy's eyebrows shot up in excitement, his face breaking into an impossibly wide grin, gleeful as a 200-pound child.
A whole box of specially made weighted gear, its weight alone, spoke for itself.
Inside were a total of five pieces:
Two for the arms,
Two for the legs,
And one weighted vest.
"Absolutely beautiful. Magnificent."
Guy caressed the weights as if he were stroking the skin of a delicate maiden.
Raiden twitched, 'Can you not make that creepy expression? Especially when the object of your affection is just a set of weights!'
"Boss, I'll take a set of these too!"
Raiden's sudden voice drew everyone's attention.
The shop owner's eyes landed on Raiden, and the sight of his bull-like horns made the man's brow furrow. There was no outright disgust, but he clearly wasn't thrilled either.
"Kid, this set weighs a full one thousand pounds. It's not something you can handle."
Guy, ever kind-hearted, explained patiently, advising Raiden against reckless ambition.
"If you trust me, I can recommend a more suitable set for you."
Guy turned to grab a pair of leg weights hanging on the wall.
Raiden glanced at them. Twenty pounds each.
Instantly lost interest.
He trusted Guy's good intentions. But Guy didn't understand him. For an ordinary six-year-old, a twenty-pound load would be ideal, heavy enough to train but not enough to stunt growth.
It was the logical and standard recommendation But Raiden wasn't an ordinary kid.
Purely in terms of raw strength, he could easily lift the two-man-tall boulder behind the Ninja Academy with one hand.
"I'll take this one. No, actually make it ten times heavier!"
"...Huh?"
The room fell silent.
Even Guy, Konoha's #1 Taijutsu Specialist, blinked in confusion.
One thousand pounds?
Even Guy himself had only recently upgraded to this weight level! and this six-year-old kid wanted a whole ton right off the bat?!
Did he think he was some kind of monster?!
Even the shop owner, who had been trying to keep his patience, nearly cursed out loud!
"If it's about money, don't worry I've got plenty!" Raiden pulled out a thick wallet.
He had been saving up his orphan support funds for months. Buying one set of weights was no problem at all.
"This isn't about money!" The shop owner finally lost it.
"It's about whether you can even lift it!" He was done trying to be polite. He just wanted this stubborn brat to shut up and leave.
"And what if I can lift it?"
Raiden raised an eyebrow.
He knew the shop owner was looking down on him But that was fine.
That was exactly what he wanted.
"If you can lift it, I'll give it to you for free!" The shop owner snapped.
Hands-on his hips, legs shaking slightly, he shot Raiden a mocking glare.
His expression practically screamed:
"Go on, then! Try it! Let's see you fail!"
Raiden silently tucked his wallet back into his pocket. Then, without another word, he bent down and began picking up each weight and putting them on.
Then…
Then he simply turned around and walked out the door.
"WAIT, WHAT?!" The shop owner stood there, completely stunned.
By the time he snapped out of it, Raiden was already stepping out of the shop.
"You're not trying to back out, are you?" Raiden's gaze was icy as he turned back. "You said it yourself if I could lift it, it was mine. He heard you."
"Mm. I heard it loud and clear." Guy, genuinely amazed, nodded in agreement.
A perfectly timed assist.
The shop owner's face darkened.
He shot a glare at Guy, nearly dying of frustration.
"I DID say that. But this set was meant for THIS customer. You can't just take it!"
"This stuff is custom-made. You'll have to wait for a new set."
The shop owner was no fool.
He couldn't just give away an expensive set for free. If Raiden returned it, then he could pretend this never happened.
As for actually making a new set for Raiden?
Hah. Not happening.
Raiden, of course, saw right through the act.
"Would you be willing to let me take this one? You can wait a couple of days."
Raiden turned to Guy, asking him directly.
"Sure."
Guy considered it briefly, then nodded.
He still had another weighted set only 800 pounds, but still usable.
The shop owner's face turned BLACK.
"SURE, MY ASS!"
"That was MY merchandise!"
"Are you really giving it away?! This stuff takes TIME to make!"
"No problem. Just notify me when the new one is ready." Guy waved it off casually.
The shop owner: "...!!!"
He felt like he was about to die of anger.
Raiden barely spared him a glance.
If the man hadn't tried to mock him, Raiden wouldn't have bothered wasting time with a side character.
But still, Raiden wasn't the type to take things for free.
"How much did you pay for this?"
"Materials and labour 30,000 ryo."
Without hesitation, Raiden counted out exactly 30,000 Ryo, placed it on the counter, and walked out.
He didn't spare the shop owner another glance. Some people simply weren't worth remembering.
Guy, after a moment, chased after him.
Because now, he had questions.
"Who is this kid?"
And so, the Blue Beast followed in pursuit…
