Chapter 38: Chapter 38: The Resurrection of Orochimaru
---
A Remote Hideout
"Shall we begin,?"
Naruto held the scroll in his hand, looking at Anko Mitarashi, who lay unconscious on the ground before him. After a moment, he nodded.
Seeing his confirmation, Konan stepped forward, helping Anko up and removing her coat, revealing the Cursed Seal of Heaven etched into her neck.
Nearby, Nagato, still seated on his mechanical launcher, observed the seal intently. He let out a quiet sigh.
"I always thought that only the Six Paths: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique could bring someone back to life," he mused. "But to think that this bastard, Orochimaru, has a method of resurrection like this..."
Naruto chuckled. "Well, he is the greatest scientist in the ninja world. Pulling something like this off isn't exactly surprising."
Without further delay, Naruto unrolled the scroll, placing it directly on the cursed seal at the back of Anko's neck.
Sasuke had once explained that Orochimaru's cursed seals were more than just power enhancers. They were backups—a failsafe containing fragments of Orochimaru's very essence. While the cursed seals weren't unique to any single body, they all acted as pointers, connecting directly to Orochimaru's soul.
To resurrect Orochimaru, they had to locate the key that would unlock the cursed seal, allowing Orochimaru's remaining soul fragment to emerge.
And that key was Jūgo.
Since Orochimaru's Cursed Seal of Heaven originated from Jūgo's unique Sage Transformation ability, his chakra would serve as the trigger to bring Orochimaru back.
Naruto took a deep breath, forming a sequence of hand seals.
"Evil Sealing Release!"
With a final seal, he pressed his palm against Anko's cursed mark. Jūgo, who was standing nearby, channeled his Curse Mark Chakra, pouring it into the seal on Anko's neck.
A sudden white glow erupted from the mark, illuminating the dark hideout.
Naruto slowly withdrew his hand.
And then, it happened.
A large white snake slithered out of Anko's cursed mark, growing bigger and bigger with each passing second.
The snake's massive head rose up, its mouth stretching wide open—and from within, drenched in a thick, disgusting slime, emerged a figure.
Orochimaru.
---
Naruto grimaced, watching the legendary snake sannin crawl out of the slimy serpent mess like some kind of fucking horror movie reject.
He clicked his tongue in disgust.
"Seriously, Uncle Snake," Naruto deadpanned, "can't you at least find a less disgusting way to make an entrance? This shit is nasty."
Orochimaru stood up slowly, his golden slit pupils gleaming with amusement as he wiped some slime off his face. His pale lips curled into a sinister smirk.
"Oh my, what a surprise..." he rasped. "I truly didn't expect the one to bring me back to life would be you, Uzumaki Naruto."
Naruto folded his arms. "Yeah, well, I never thought I'd be wearing these damn robes and resurrecting your slimy ass, so I guess we're both full of surprises today."
Orochimaru chuckled darkly, licking his lips in that creepy-ass way he always did. "Life is full of unpredictable turns, after all... But tell me, Naruto—what exactly happened that made you go down this path?"
Naruto sighed.
"Shit happened."
That was all he said.
But Orochimaru's sharp mind immediately picked up on the weight behind those two words. He let out a low hum, his long fingers brushing against his chin.
"You've changed," he mused.
Naruto smirked. "Took you this long to notice?"
Orochimaru ignored the sarcasm, his gaze flickering toward Konan and Nagato.
"And even more interesting..." he murmured, his golden eyes locking onto Nagato's Rinnegan. "...you actually have these two working for you now?"
Orochimaru's voice was filled with genuine intrigue.
Konan stepped forward, her expression cold. "Orochimaru, don't test our patience. Naruto resurrected you—he can just as easily send your ass back to the afterlife."
At that moment, Pain's Six Paths moved forward, standing behind Naruto. Their piercing Rinnegan eyes stared down at Orochimaru, their silent presence carrying a clear message:
Comply, or we kill you again.
Naruto raised a hand. "No need for that, Konan. You can't force someone like Uncle Snake into submission."
He turned back to Orochimaru with a grin.
"And besides," Naruto added, "the only person who can truly kill Orochimaru hasn't been born yet. Hell, even I can't do it right now."
Orochimaru's brows arched, clearly pleased with the statement. "Flattery won't get you anywhere, Naruto," he purred.
"It's not flattery—it's facts," Naruto shot back.
Orochimaru chuckled, before his gaze returned to Nagato. He stared at the Rinnegan again, his expression unreadable.
Naruto watched Orochimaru's fascination with the legendary dōjutsu and smirked.
"They're my comrades now," Naruto said. "And I believe you can become one too. Join us."
Orochimaru tilted his head. "Oh? And what, pray tell, is 'US'?"
"The organization I created," Naruto answered.
Orochimaru sneered. "And why should I?"
Naruto grinned. "Because I know exactly what you want, Uncle Snake."
Orochimaru gave him a curious look.
Naruto stepped forward, speaking calmly yet firmly.
"You don't give a damn about villages. You don't give a shit about Hokage, or peace, or any of that crap. You only care about one thing—the truth. The truth of the world, of life, of existence itself."
Orochimaru remained silent.
"You hate being restrained. You don't want to be controlled by any village or person. You live for research, for discovery. And you love unlocking secrets."
Orochimaru's eyes narrowed slightly, impressed by Naruto's insight.
"That's why I'm not gonna control you," Naruto continued. "I'm gonna support you. I'll fund your research, and I'll even study alongside you—because there are things I don't understand yet, and I want to."
Orochimaru's interest was fully piqued now.
"Oh?" he purred. "And what exactly don't you understand, Naruto?"
Naruto's expression turned serious.
"A lot of things. Like how to evolve the Sharingan into the Rinnegan. The true extent of the Sage of Six Paths' power. The truth about the Ten-Tails. And..."
He leaned in slightly.
"...whether it's possible to surpass the gods."
Orochimaru's eyes widened.
Then, slowly, his lips stretched into a grin.
"Ohhh..." he practically purred. "Now you're speaking my language, Naruto."
The excitement in his eyes was unmistakable.
"You really are full of surprises," Orochimaru admitted, licking his lips. "I always thought I was the only one crazy enough to pursue these forbidden truths... But you? You might actually be even crazier than I am."
Naruto smirked. "So, what's your answer?"
Konan stepped in. "If you join, we'll provide facilities, funding, and protection."
Orochimaru considered it for a long moment. Then, finally, he nodded.
"Fine," he said. "I'll join. But only as a partner."
Naruto's grin widened. "Deal. Welcome aboard, Chief Scientist of HEAVEN."
