Naruto: Divine Reward System

Chapter 4: Chapter #4

More than half an hour later.

Tatsuya had already memorized all the ninjutsu from the scroll, committing each technique to memory through sheer fuckin' will. Seeing that Naruto was still deep in training, he figured he had some time to try his luck with a draw.

With that in mind, he quickly opened the lottery interface. The screen displayed a glowing blue box at the top, while the inventory section below remained empty—waiting to store any rewards he would obtain.

Taking a deep breath, Tatsuya pressed the [Start] button in the blue frame, his heart pounding with anticipation. Instantly, the items within the frame began to shuffle at high speed.

His eyes caught glimpses of various powerful items—[Fire Chakra], [Rinnegan], [Kotoamatsukami], [Rasengan], [Two-Tomoe Sharingan]…

Needless to say, every single reward was a treasure!

As the frame finally slowed, it settled on a pair of crimson eyes with three tomoe spinning within them.

A notification immediately popped up:

{Ding! Congratulations! You have obtained [Three-Tomoe Sharingan]!}

Tatsuya's breath hitched. His eyes widened in disbelief before a rush of excitement surged through him. He had never expected to hit the jackpot on his very first draw!

With the confirmation sound echoing in his ears, he stared at the words [Three-Tomoe Sharingan] in the frame, suppressing his excitement as he clicked [Confirm]. Instantly, the item was transferred to his inventory.

Without hesitation, he activated it.

{Ding! Congratulations! You have successfully unlocked [Three-Tomoe Sharingan]!}

A sudden heat pulsed through his eyes. His vision flickered, and the world around him became sharper—colors more vivid, movements more defined. He felt an unprecedented clarity as his normal black irises shifted to a deep red, adorned with three evenly distributed tomoe.

The Sharingan's evolution followed a set path. Initially, one tomoe appeared upon awakening. With increased chakra control, training, and emotional stimuli, the Sharingan gradually could evolved, gaining additional tomoe until it reached its peak at three.

With each tomoe, its power grew exponentially. The eye granted enhanced perception—allowing the user to track even the subtlest movements, predict attacks, and see chakra flow. Additionally, it enabled powerful genjutsu and the ability to copy non-kekkei-genkai ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu techniques.

It was no exaggeration to call this one of the most powerful dōjutsu in existence!

Tatsuya turned to look at Naruto, his enhanced vision instantly detecting the intricate network of the latter's chakra flow, every fluctuation, every subtle movement of his fingers as he formed seals.

At this moment, Naruto remained focused on his training, working tirelessly to master the [Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu]. Thanks to his prior experience with the standard [Clone Jutsu], his progress was remarkable.

"Tatsuya, I think I've almost got it!" Naruto suddenly announced, grinning with determination.

"Then take a break," Tatsuya suggested.

"Hehe, yeah, I was thinking the same thing." Naruto chuckled before collapsing onto the ground, arms sprawled out. "Man, this takes a lot out of me."

Practicing ninjutsu after the heist that he did naturally drained him mentally.

Suddenly—

Whoosh!

The sharp sound of something cutting through the air echoed from the forest.

Both Tatsuya and Naruto snapped their heads toward the source of the noise.

A figure emerged from the shadows, stepping into view.

It was none other than Iruka!

The moment Iruka spotted Naruto, his expression darkened, clearly prepared to scold the troublemaker. However, when he saw Tatsuya standing there as well, his stern demeanor momentarily faltered in surprise.

Before Iruka could speak, Tatsuya stepped forward with a smirk.

"Iruka-sensei you're finally here. Took you long enough."

Iruka blinked. "…Huh?"

His expression was a mix of confusion and wariness. It almost sounded like Tatsuya had been waiting for him.

Naruto, who had initially been eager to show off his progress, momentarily put it aside as curiosity took over.

"Tatsuya, what are you talking about?" Iruka asked, crossing his arms.

Tatsuya gave a knowing smile. "You know Naruto better than anyone, right, Sensei? If anyone was going to find him first, it had to be you."

Iruka narrowed his eyes. "And?"

"And… I left behind a few subtle clues along the way, just to make sure of it."

Naruto gawked. "Wait, you wanted Iruka-sensei to find us? Why?!"

Iruka, too, looked puzzled. He had known Tatsuya for a while, but tonight, something about him felt… different. Sharper. More strategic. If not for his unchanged chakra signature, Iruka might've suspected he was an imposter.

Tatsuya's tone turned serious. "Because I wanted to expose Mizuki-sensei's true colors."

"Mizuki?" Iruka's eyebrows shot up. "What does he have to do with this?"

Tatsuya nodded toward Naruto. "You tell him."

"Me?" Naruto blinked in confusion, pointing at himself.

Seeing his hesitation, Tatsuya prompted, "Just tell Iruka-sensei exactly what Mizuki told you."

"Oh…" Naruto hesitated for a moment before nodding and recounting everything Mizuki had told him—the so-called "secret to passing" the graduation test, the instructions to steal the "Scroll of Seals," and Mizuki's promises.

By the end of it, Iruka looked as if the ground had been pulled out from under him. "That… that can't be true…"

Mizuki had been his friend since their Academy days. Someone he had trusted.

"Iruka-sensei, whether you believe it or not, Mizuki will be here any second now," Tatsuya said firmly. "And when he arrives, you'll see for yourself."

Naruto turned to Iruka, waiting for his reaction.

Iruka swallowed hard. He wanted to deny it. But deep down, a sinking feeling in his gut told him that Tatsuya was right.

And just as Tatsuya finished speaking—

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The sound of dozens of kunai slicing through the air filled the clearing.

Naruto's eyes widened. "What the—?!"

Tatsuya's eyes gleamed as he locked onto the incoming weapons. "Here we go…"

Iruka barely had time to react before the first wave of kunai rained down on them…

At this moment, Tatsuya, who had been on high alert, instantly grabbed Naruto and pulled him aside, narrowly avoiding the incoming attack. Iruka, needing no such assistance, skillfully dodged on his own.

However, witnessing Tatsuya's speed and precision left Iruka stunned. Even he hadn't reacted as swiftly. Tatsuya's instincts were razor-sharp, almost unnatural for someone so young.

More than a dozen kunai struck the wooden house behind them, clattering against the structure with sharp metallic clangs.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Mizuki, crouching on a tree branch, narrowed his eyes in surprise. He hadn't expected a fresh graduate like Tatsuya—who had only just earned his ninja headband—to evade such a precise ambush.

Must have been pure luck, Mizuki thought dismissively. But then, another realization struck him: Why is Tatsuya even here? He hadn't been part of the plan.

Yet, Mizuki didn't dwell on it. To him, Tatsuya was insignificant—just another expendable child.

A smirk spread across Mizuki's face. "Well, this is an unexpected bonus. Not only do I get the 'Book of Seals' today, but I also get to eliminate a rising threat. Two birds with one stone."

"Mizuki! Do you even hear yourself?!" Iruka shouted, his voice filled with anger and disbelief.

Mizuki sneered. "Iruka, before I claim my prize, I'll deal with you first."

With cold precision, Mizuki lunged at Iruka, attacking mercilessly. Their skills were evenly matched, but Iruka hesitated, holding back his deadlier strikes. He didn't want to kill Mizuki—he wanted to capture him and turn him over to the Hokage.

But that hesitation cost him.

Boom!

A powerful strike sent Iruka crashing into a tree. Blood trickled down his forehead as he slumped against the bark, struggling to move.

Mizuki turned his attention to Naruto, his eyes gleaming with greed. "Naruto, hand over the scroll."

Iruka, still gasping for breath, managed to yell, "Naruto! That scroll contains forbidden jutsu—it must never fall into the wrong hands!"

"Relax, sensei, I'm not giving that jerk anything!" Naruto retorted, his voice firm.

Thanks to Tatsuya's earlier warning, Naruto had already realized Mizuki's betrayal. He clenched his fists, his anger boiling over. He had been used, and he hated it.

Mizuki scoffed. "Tch. You really think you can keep it from me? Let me tell you something, Naruto… the truth about you."

Iruka's eyes widened in horror. "No… Mizuki, don't—!"

But Mizuki ignored him. With a twisted smile, he continued, "Twelve years ago, Konoha was attacked by the Nine-Tailed Fox. It slaughtered hundreds—including Iruka's parents. And do you know why everyone in the village despises you, Naruto?"

Naruto froze. His breathing became shallow. A knot tightened in his stomach.

Mizuki leaned in closer, his voice dripping with cruelty. "It's because you are the Nine-Tailed Fox."

Iruka's shout cut through the night. "That's a lie, Naruto! Don't listen to him!"

But the damage was done. Naruto's mind spiraled into confusion as Mizuki's words replayed in his head.

Smirking, Mizuki saw his chance. He hurled a massive spinning fūma shuriken straight at Naruto, intending to finish him off.

Iruka, despite his injuries, launched himself in front of Naruto. He braced for impact—but before the weapon could reach him—

CLANG!

A sharp metallic sound rang out as the giant shuriken was knocked off course, embedding itself deep into a nearby tree.

Mizuki's eyes widened in shock. "What—?!"

His gaze snapped to Tatsuya, who stood with his kunai still raised from the deflection. But it wasn't just the deflection that unsettled Mizuki—it was Tatsuya's eyes.

A pair of crimson pupils, adorned with three rotating tomoe, stared back at him.

Iruka, still catching his breath, followed Mizuki's gaze. When he saw Tatsuya's eyes, his own breath hitched in disbelief.

Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Third Hokage, watched the unfolding scene through his crystal ball from within his office. His wrinkled lips parted slightly as he murmured, "Sharingan?"

Back in the forest, Mizuki's shock turned to rage. "That's impossible! How do you have the Sharingan?!"

Tatsuya ignored him and turned to Iruka. "Sensei, you've done enough. Rest now. Naruto and I will handle this."

Iruka, still overwhelmed by what he was witnessing, hesitated. "You and Naruto…?"

Tatsuya flashed a confident grin. "Don't worry, sensei. We've got this."

For a brief moment, Iruka simply stared at him. Then, he exhaled and nodded.

Mizuki, still struggling to process the sudden shift in power, gritted his teeth. "You think a pair of brats can take me down?!"

Tatsuya's Sharingan gleamed under the moonlight. "How about we find out."
