Chapter 4: [CHAPTER 4] The Summons for a Sensei
After spending some time with Guy and his team, Kakashi decided to get something to eat at the Ichiraku Ramen shop. He also thought that if he was lucky, he might even meet Naruto there.
He reached the simple shop, which didn't look like much from the outside. Despite its plain appearance, Ramen Ichiraku was popular with Konoha's villagers because of Teuchi's strong dedication to taste, giving the ramen an almost artistic quality.
Kakashi stepped inside, looked around, and sighed. He didn't see Naruto anywhere here.
Though he could always go and find Naruto, but he had thought Naruto would definitely be here. He shrugged and took a seat at the counter.
Teuchi came forward, with his usual smiling face. "Morning, Kakashi-san," he said. "What would you like to order?"
Kakashi nodded in greeting. "Um, one bowl of miso ramen today," he replied.
Teuchi nodded. "Alright, wait here for a few minutes, your order will come."
Kakashi then looked around and saw a few other villagers also eating ramen. After a few minutes, Teuchi gently placed a steaming bowl in front of him, saying with his warm smile, "Enjoy!"
Kakashi nodded and leaned towards the bowl. Its rich, savory smell rose upward, putting a smile on his face, hidden behind his mask.
Kakashi pulled down his face mask, picked up the chopsticks, separated them, and held them ready over the bowl. He gently stirred the contents, letting the different ingredients mix together. The steam rose, promising warmth and flavor.
Slurp!
A small slurping sound escaped his lips as he lifted a tangled pile of noodles, slick with broth, towards his mouth. Kakashi commented, "It's indeed very delicious. Though I have memories of eating this, but tasting it personally is a different experience. No wonder Naruto was so crazy about it."
He continued to eat, slurping, chewing, and enjoying each bite. A happy hum vibrated deep in his chest.
—
Kakashi then left the shop after paying for the delicious bowl of ramen. Just as he stepped out, a figure dressed in black appeared in front of him—an ANBU.
The ANBU spoke with a respectful tone, "Kakashi-senpai, Hokage-sama has summoned you." After delivering the message, the ANBU vanished with a bow.
Kakashi was momentarily surprised. He thought, 'Did Hiruzen already make the team assignments? If he did, then why did he even give a week of break to the newly graduated Genin?'
Kakashi shrugged and used Body Flicker to head towards the Hokage Building. He thought, 'I'll know why he called me once I get there.'
—
Within a few minutes, he arrived at the Hokage office, not through the door, but through the window. Hiruzen was sitting in his Hokage chair, facing outside the window, taking a puff from his pipe.
Upon seeing Kakashi arrive, he took off his Hokage hat, placed it on the table, and stood up. Kakashi entered the office and knelt, "Hokage-sama, did you summon me?"
Hiruzen chuckled softly. "Kakashi, you aren't in the ANBU anymore, so stop coming through the window and kneeling like that."
Kakashi stood up, scanned the office room, and sensed a few ANBU members in the room. Hiruzen then took out three papers and showed them to Kakashi. "You know what happened last night, right?" he asked.
Kakashi took the papers and nodded to Hiruzen, thinking, 'Yes, I know. I transmigrated into this ninja world, had my Three-Tomoe Sharingan evolve into Mangekyō, and got a cheat, a system.'
Hiruzen then walked towards the window and looked at the Hokage Monument, specifically at Minato's carved stone face. He said, "Since Naruto has become a Genin, I decided to put him under you. I hope you agree with this. After all, he is Minato's son, and in my eyes, no one is better than you, Minato's student, to be his Jōnin sensei."
Kakashi's single eye widened in slight surprise. He glanced at the three papers in his hand; one at the front was about Naruto and his basic details, the second was of Sasuke Uchiha, and the third was of Sakura Haruno.
Kakashi thought, 'So, he already decided within just a few hours from last night that Naruto and Sasuke would be on the same team.'
Hiruzen then added, still looking at the Hokage Monument, "And I also decided to team him up with Sasuke, the survivor of the Uchiha Clan, in his team. To complete their team, I've added a civilian Kunoichi to this team, which you will lead."
Kakashi replied, "I agree, Sandaime-sama. I will definitely be the Jōnin of Naruto's team, don't worry."
Hiruzen smiled, taking another puff from his pipe, looking back at Kakashi. "I knew you would agree, very well."
Kakashi put the papers on the table and asked, "Did you already prepare the team assignments?"
Hiruzen walked back, sat on his Hokage chair, and said, "Not completely, but you obviously know that the Ino-Shika-Chō team can't be separated, and I think that the Hyūga Clan's heiress can be teamed up with kids from the Aburame clan and Inuzuka clan."
Kakashi nodded, scoffed internally, 'And these teams will be led by your son Asuma and your future daughter-in-law Kurenai Yūhi.'
