Naruto: Chakra System

Chapter 3: [CHAPTER 3] The Unexpected Lesson

"Then how about you give some pointers to my students?" Guy suggested, while leaned closer to Kakashi's ear and said in a low voice, "Especially for Neji."

Kakashi raised his eyebrow at Guy's words, then understood that Guy wasn't talking about combat training. He thought, 'Neji Hyūga, another poor character from the anime, held back by the chains of fate. This is truly the greatest hypocrisy of Hiruzen, who always gives hours long speeches on the Will of Fire, when the Hyūga Clan literally has a slave system. Where is the Will of Fire here?'

Kakashi looked at Neji, who was practicing the Gentle Fist, and shook his head. "Guy, I can't give him any pointers. I understand why you're asking me this, but you also know why Neji is like that, right? My words alone wouldn't be enough."

Guy sighed and nodded. "Well, that's true. He's really talented and hardworking, but I sometimes feel sad knowing his situation."

Kakashi put his hand on Guy's shoulder and said, "Don't worry, maybe in the future he might change, maybe even Hyūga clan might change."

Guy nodded.

Kakashi then added, "But if I'm really going to give some pointers to your students, Neji is already good enough, and Lee is trained in the Eight Inner Gates by you and is also good enough. That leaves Tenten. I can indeed give her some advice."

Guy's eyes lit up. "REALLY!" he exclaimed.

Kakashi chuckled at Guy's enthusiasm, but he also knew that Guy himself couldn't teach Tenten many things, especially about Ninjutsu and Genjutsu.

Tenten had great skill with weapons. She could summon countless weapons quickly and her aim was excellent, rarely missing her target, though enemies might dodge them.

She was also decent at Taijutsu, a result of her training under Might Guy. Despite her strengths, she had a big weakness—she was vulnerable to wide-area attacks, like Temari's Wind Release, and her reliance on weapons often limited her to one-on-one fights.

Kakashi and Guy then walked towards the three Genin. Lee paused his training, stepped forward, and with a respectful bow, said, "Morning, Kakashi-san."

Neji, with his usual serious look, and Tenten, with a smile, also came forward and greeted Kakashi. Kakashi greeted them back and said, "Continue to train. You don't have to worry about me."

Lee and Neji nodded and went back to their training. But Guy stopped Tenten and said, "Tenten, you wait. I asked Kakashi, and he can help you with your training and improvement."

Tenten paused, slightly surprised, "Really, Guy-sensei?" she asked. Pretty much every ninja in the village knew about the famous Copy Ninja, Kakashi Hatake, especially those from ninja families and those who worked related to Ninja's needs, like weapons, and such.

For the Genin of Team Guy, this was even better, as Guy couldn't help them with other ninja arts outside of Taijutsu skills. Kakashi said, "Tenten, I know you're good with weapons, but have you ever consider about infusing your chakra into your tools?"

Tenten tilted her head slightly and shook it. Kakashi explained, "Your weapons are like a part of you. Learn to concentrate your chakra into them. A kunai or a shuriken sharpened by your chakra will not only have more destructive power but also gain qualities that go beyond just blunt force or piercing damage."

Tenten nodded but said, "I don't actually know how to put chakra into weapons."

Kakashi took a kunai from his pouch and showed her, channeling lightning chakra over the blade. Crackling lightning chakra covered his kunai. Kakashi said, "If your Chakra Control is good, you can focus your chakra on your weapons."

Tenten asked, "But wouldn't that be a disadvantage to do it one by one during battles?"

Kakashi shook his head and replied, "True mastery of chakra flow isn't just about sending it to one point, but extending your chakra sense to many objects."

"You already extend your chakra through your scroll to summon weapons. The next step is to extend your chakra when you summon weapons, letting your chakra flow and coat them."

Tenten thought about it. "Yes, I can try it," she said.

Kakashi nodded, "But your chakra reserves might not be enough, so you can try putting chakra into only those weapons you specifically choose to attack an opponent."

Tenten nodded and said with a bow, "Thank you, Kakashi-sama!"

She then went back and tried what Kakashi had taught her; chakra infusion in weapons. Guy then slammed his hand on Kakashi's shoulder, making him lean down slightly.

With a hearty laugh, he said, "Hahaha, thank you, Kakashi! I hope Tenten also can improves. But I can't teach my students anything more beyond Taijutsu."

Kakashi shook his head, "You don't have to worry about that. Your students are actually very good at Taijutsu, mostly. Look, Rock Lee and Neji both only want to focus on Taijutsu, and even Tenten is less proficient in Ninjutsu but good with weapons."

"Besides, believe me, your Taijutsu is the best in the world. The Eight Inner Gates is truly a powerful Taijutsu art. Even the Raikage can't match you if he fight you in higher gates."

Guy laughed, a little embarrassed by the praise. "No, no, that's too much. I can't be a match for the Raikage, even after opening higher gates."

Kakashi glanced at Guy with his visible eye and thought, 'Well, I was only talking about the Gate of Death. Now that I am here, I should make sure that Guy never has opportunity to open Eighth Gate.'
