Naruto: Can’t Use Ninjutsu? I’ll Create the Strongest Fighting Style

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Fish Don’t Have Health Insurance, So We Gave Them Bugs Instead

"Good afternoon, senpai. I'm Shino."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Garou Zenin, your upperclassman by a year."

The sunglasses, the high-collared coat… it was a familiar look.

Garou couldn't help but admire the kid.

Shino's genius wasn't in brute strength.

His strength came from intellect, strategy, and meticulous planning.

He'd draw an enemy step-by-step into a trap, then deliver a decisive strike with his kikaichū.

That was his style, cool-headed and sharp, much like Shikamaru. Shino's taijutsu and ninjutsu stats weren't extraordinary, but his intelligence and composure made him dangerous.

"Garou, this kid...?" Hyakusa stepped closer, eyeing the newcomer curiously.

"I've already passed the early graduation exam," Shino said calmly, bowing slightly. "Please trust in my ability."

Hyakusa blinked, then gave a forced smile and nodded. "Alright then. Let's head over to the next lab. I'll teach you the basics you'll need to know. Garou, you're okay with that?"

"Huh? Yeah, of course."

"Then let's go."

As Hyakusa took the lead, Shino adjusted his glasses slightly and threw a sidelong glance at Garou.

There was something odd here.

'Why does it feel like Garou-senpai is the one in charge?'

Hyakusa seemed to constantly defer to him, and the subtle body language, like seeking approval, was hard to miss.

'Could it be...?'

He recalled his father's words.

"Shino, keep an eye on Garou.'

"He's an exceptional talent. Learn from him if you can. At the very least, make sure you stay on good terms with him. You won't regret it."

'Learn from him... befriend him?' Shino silently followed, quietly observing this legendary upperclassman.

Garou, meanwhile, wasn't paying attention to Shino's curiosity.

His mind was already racing ahead, calculating how best to develop the kikaichū further. And more than that, one of his clones had been making good progress gathering natural energy.

That sparked a wild idea.

'Is it possible to raise kikaichū with senjutsu chakra? Can insects evolve using natural energy?'

But the thought immediately raised another issue.

Animals exposed to senjutsu chakra tended to grow enormously. Giant kikaichū didn't exactly mesh well with the Aburame Clan's stealthy, internal symbiosis style.

So... probably not viable.

Garou frowned in disappointment.

A shame, really.

And besides, kikaichū were a clan secret.

No matter how close he got, he couldn't just ask for those techniques outright.

He sighed under his breath.

Shino, walking behind, noticed the subtle shift in expression.

'He's troubled by something…'

'Of course. The higher one climbs, the more burdens they carry.'

Shino thought quietly to himself.

Someone like him probably has dozens of ideas weighing on his mind every day.

"We're here," Hyakusa said, stopping in front of the lab door. "This is the experiment room."

"Understood."

"Oh, right," Garou added casually. "You're close to graduation, right, Shino?"

Shino adjusted his sunglasses slightly, contemplating whether to ask for guidance.

If anyone could help him, it was Garou.

His reputation as a prodigy extended even to the upper echelons of the Aburame Clan.

But in the end, the words came out far simpler than he intended. "Two months left."

"Two months, huh? Time flies. The Chūnin Exams will be starting in the second half of the year. This time, it's being held in the Sand Village, so expect a bit of travel."

Garou stretched lazily as he spoke.

Konoha often co-hosted the exams with allied villages.

The location rotated, last time was in the Land of Fire, so naturally, this time it would be somewhere in the Land of Wind.

The next one… should be Naruto's batch, if he remembered correctly.

Time really did fly.

'No time to waste…'

The urgency welled up in his chest.

In the lab, Hyakusa began prepping materials, fetching a fish for testing.

"Shino."

"Yes, senpai?"

"You and your kikaichū co-exist via a kind of contract, right?"

"That's correct. We supply them with chakra, and they live inside our bodies in return, aiding us in battle."

Shino answered plainly.

"Good. In a minute, try having them absorb medical chakra and then store it. Don't let them digest it."

"My father already explained. It should be manageable." Shino remained calm as always.

"Great," Garou nodded. "Hyakusa-senpai, I think Shino's got this. No need to be so nervous."

"Nervous? Who's nervous?" Hyakusa laughed awkwardly.

Still, she breathed a little easier.

Anyone capable of early graduation had to be talented.

She brought over a test subject, a fish that had accidentally ingested a small dose of poison. "Think you can detoxify it?"

"Of course." Shino flicked his finger, and a faint black mist seeped from his sleeve, darting toward the fish.

A moment later, the fish began flopping around vigorously.

Hyakusa blinked in shock.

That level of control was insane.

You couldn't even see the insects unless you were really paying attention.

And they obeyed his commands flawlessly.

"Hyakusa-senpai," Garou said softly, "you've probably misunderstood the kikaichū after that surgery incident, haven't you?"

Shino spoke as well, deadpan as ever. "I apologize if our clan caused any distress."

"Ah, no, no, it's not like that." Hyakusa scratched her head sheepishly.

"Surgery?" Garou raised a brow.

"Yeah," Hyakusa replied. "We used your pathogen detection technique to treat a poisoned Aburame. But during the operation, his kikaichū went wild. They were flying all over the place! I nearly had a heart attack."

"Unusual behavior," Shino murmured. "They're typically very disciplined."

"They must've been reacting to the poison," Garou concluded. "Anyway, let's continue."

Hyakusa rolled up her sleeve. "Here. Let the kikaichū absorb my medical chakra."

Shino nodded and sent a group of kikaichū toward Hyakusa's outstretched hand, sneaking another glance at Garou.

Shino continued his commands quietly.

"You done?" Hyakusa asked, trying to hide the tremor in her voice.

"Not yet," Garou said before Shino could respond.

Shino looked surprised.

'Can he sense the insects' actions?'

"Looks like a full generation has adapted," Garou noted, eyes narrowing slightly. "We can proceed."

He formed a thin chakra needle at his fingertip and sliced into the fish's belly with surgical precision.

The fish spasmed, flopping wildly.

"I've severed its internal organs. Shino. Command your kikaichū to repair them."

"Understood." Shino took a deep breath, focused, and sent his chakra-laden kikaichū through the fish's mouth, gills, and other small openings.

To be honest, the sight was unsettling.

Watching bugs crawl inside a living creature to repair it from within, but as a trained medical ninja, Hyakusa suppressed her unease and focused on observing.

Moments later, her eyes widened.

The fish... was healing.

"It's working," she gasped.

"It's unbelievable."

Hyakusa was stunned.

Even Shino, usually composed, looked slightly impressed.

Though he quickly added, "But... can't a skilled medical ninja do this too? Isn't that standard practice?"

"Human cells have a limit to how many times they can divide," Hyakusa explained. "The fewer times we need to cut someone open, the better."

Shino blinked in realization.

Garou chimed in, "That's only part of it. Imagine if one day we manage to create portable chakra storage tools, or maybe sealing scrolls filled with healing chakra."

"Then," Garou said with a small smile, "you'd be half a medical ninja."
