Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Tsunade's Private Tutoring
"Nonō, you go on and get busy. I'll watch over Hagawa for you," Tsunade said casually with a wave of her hand after they finished eating.
"You can't take him to the casino," Nonō said, looking at her suspiciously.
"I won't," Tsunade said with her arms crossed. I won't take him, but if Hagawa wants to go, that's another matter entirely.
"Then I'll have to trouble you, Lady Tsunade," Nonō said, finally agreeing after some thought. Unlike Tsunade, she wasn't so free; there were many matters at the hospital that she had to personally oversee.
"Hagawa," Nonō said, holding the three empty bento boxes, "remember to be obedient and don't talk back to Lady Tsunade."
"Mm," Hagawa nodded乖巧地.
"One more thing," Nonō said, suddenly remembering something. "Don't leave the village for the time being."
"Why?" Hagawa asked, taken aback.
"There have been multiple cases of missing children around Konoha recently, many of them newborn infants," Nonō said directly, not hiding anything.
Missing infants? Hagawa immediately connected this to the surgery Tsunade had performed that morning and Inoichi Yamanaka's attitude. Coupled with the time period, could it be the Wood Release experiments? In the original series, Konoha had once conducted experiments using Hashirama Senju's cells to replicate his invincible Wood Release. The project was eventually halted by Hiruzen Sarutobi due to the countless deaths, but Danzo Shimura and Orochimaru continued it in secret, successfully creating a Wood Release user named Yamato.
"In short, just don't leave the village," Nonō said softly. "Konoha has many ninja; no one would dare to make a move inside the village."
"Okay," Hagawa said, suppressing the urge to roast her statement.
Nonō turned and left the office.
"Lady Tsunade, shall I begin?" Hagawa asked, placing his hands over the carp.
"Go ahead," Tsunade said, glancing at him. "I'll point out any mistakes."
Hagawa took a deep breath, and chakra flowed from his hands, emitting a warm, faint light. Tsunade's fingers tapped lightly on her thigh. She was thinking about where to borrow money. Although she was heavily in debt, with her titles as one of the Legendary Sannin and the "Sacred Hands of Medicine," she could always find a lender. In the war-torn ninja world, anyone could get injured, and that's when a good medical ninja was needed.
"I'll be right back," Tsunade said, having quickly found a target.
Hagawa nodded slightly. To his surprise, she returned in less than ten minutes, a smile on her face, looking to be in a good mood. You didn't need to be a genius to know she had found some money.
"Your posture is wrong," Tsunade said, walking up to him. She reached out and lifted his arms a little higher. Hagawa instinctively looked up, but his view was completely blocked by a pair of snowy mountains, and he couldn't see her face at all.
"Focus," Tsunade reminded him.
Hagawa turned off his aimbot and continued practicing. With Tsunade's help, his progress bar increased significantly. After two hours, it had reached 15%. Tsunade's private tutoring was truly effective.
"Are you still okay?" Tsunade asked, looking him over.
"My chakra is almost depleted," Hagawa said, putting away the scroll. "Let's go to the casino."
Tsunade's spirits lifted, her beautiful face full of eager anticipation. She led Hagawa to a ninja world casino. In two lifetimes, this was his first time ever stepping into one. Online casinos he had accidentally clicked on while Browse the web didn't count.
"Lady Tsunade," the young man at the casino entrance said, stopping them. "According to the rules, children are not allowed inside."
"Is that so?" Tsunade raised her hand and clenched it into a fist. The vibrating air scared the young man into taking a step back, his face pale.
"Please... please come in..." the young man quickly said, switching to an obsequious smile. He knew he couldn't block a punch containing thirty years of power.
The moment Tsunade entered the casino, she attracted everyone's attention. Their eyes seemed to flash with money signs. The reason was simple: she was the legendary "Big Fat Sheep." Anyone who frequented casinos knew Tsunade's reputation. As for Hagawa, he was automatically ignored. People came to the casino to win money; everything else was irrelevant.
Hagawa looked around. A ninja world casino was a bit like an old-school arcade. On the left were various electronic gambling machines. On the right were gambling tables where crowds gathered to place bets. It was just a pity there were no sexy dealers.
"Make way for Lady Tsunade," the young croupier said with a smile. The money delivery service had arrived. A dispute immediately broke out near the table as everyone wanted to be at the same table as Tsunade.
Crap! Hagawa realized a major problem. Due to his height, he couldn't see the table at all. Just as he was about to find a stool, he felt his body become light as he was lifted into the air. A faint fragrance filled his senses. Hagawa blinked. It was only when he was sitting on Tsunade's lap that he realized what had happened.
"Alright, let's begin," Tsunade said, holding Hagawa with one arm and leaning forward with a serious expression.
Is she carrying the ball and crashing into people? Hagawa felt a soft pressure on the top of his head. He composed himself and looked at the table, only to get a headache. This wasn't a simple game of high-low; it was a roulette wheel with thirty-seven slots. You could bet on a single number, red or black, odd or even, high or low, and so on. The payouts varied accordingly, with a single number bet yielding the highest return.
It all came down to luck. Hagawa felt his own luck shouldn't be too bad; after all, he had even experienced something as improbable as reincarnation. And no matter how bad it was, it couldn't be worse than Tsunade's. As long as he had normal luck, he shouldn't lose everything.
"Bet on black," Hagawa said quickly, seeing Tsunade place her chips on red.
"Alright then." Tsunade thought for a moment and moved her bet to a black square.
"No more bets," the croupier said, spinning the wheel. A few seconds later, the result was in. It was black.
"I actually won?!" Tsunade was stunned for a moment, then excitedly hugged Hagawa tightly.
"I... I can't... can't breathe..." Caught off guard, Hagawa felt as if two great mountains had suddenly collapsed on him.
"Again!" Tsunade released him and said confidently, "I'm definitely winning it all back today!"
No, Lady Luck is clearly smiling upon me.
Hagawa gathered his spirits. While enjoying the human chair, he helped Tsunade with her strategy. Although it wasn't a hundred percent success rate, after eliminating one wrong answer, the probability of winning was much higher.
Three hours later, the two had won a small sum of 300,000 ryō. It wasn't a particularly large amount—less than a third of the reward for an S-rank mission. But for Tsunade, it was the first time ever. Her luck, neutralized by Hagawa's, had become normal.
"Let's go!" Tsunade said, patting Hagawa's shoulder. "My treat! I'm taking you out for roast chicken!"
