My Lost Omega [BL]

Chapter 7: I Won't Agree!

"How about you invite Miss Celeste to come as your partner to grandmother's birthday party next month?"

Clang!

The knife slipped from Axel's hand, as he looked up at his mother with incredulity painted all over his face.

Was she really bringing it up again? They just had an argument in front of Ollie about his, well, dating life, if you could call it that, and now she was talking about his potential match again?

IN FRONT OF OLLIE?

He glanced at the boy, but Ollie had his eyes, still reddened, focused on his plate, as he clumsily tried to cut the steak. But Axel knew Ollie was listening, no matter how much he pretended not to.

So, Axel looked back at his mother with a sigh. "Mum."

"What? You don't have a partner yet, do you?" Mrs. Chandler wouldn't give up.

"What about Nasir Keller?"

"You can also invite Young Master Nasir, if you'd prefer."

Axel closed his eyes, holding back a sigh. He mentioned Nasir - who was yet another potential spouse for him - just to discourage his mother, but it seemed it wouldn't work this time.

"Don't worry, it's not anything binding yet!" Mrs. Chandler added, accurately guessing his thoughts. "I'm sure most Alphas will be bringing dates, even when they don't have matrimonial plans just yet."

"You should bring someone," Mr. Chandler spoke up as well. "You're 24 already. It's bad for your reputation if you're always alone at every event."

Now that his father joined in, Axel had no choice but to give in, at least a bit. "…I'll give it a thought, okay? But, if anything, I'd rather invite Miss Celeste."

He had gotten to know Nasir, a male Dominant Omega two years older than him, through multiple encounters and set up dates, and he wasn't particularly fond of the man. The Omega was haughty and cold, with a particular taste for everything luxurious, and disdain for anything 'below' him… Needless to say, they didn't get along.

So, with this comparison, it'd be hard for Miss Celeste not to come out on top.

Still, Mrs. Chandler took it as a good sign, and clapped her hands. "Excellent! I knew you would like her! She's a really nice Omega, polite and elegant, isn't she?"

"She's… not bad," Axel couldn't help but agree.

But that was it. She was nice, and pretty, but Axel had no intentions toward her. No special feelings. If he was childless, then perhaps he'd consider it, but with Ollie…

"Wouldn't she be a good mother for Ollie?"

Once again, Axel had no choice but to hold back a sigh.

"What do you say, Ollie?" With no answer from her son, Mrs. Chandler turned to her grandson instead, her voice sickeningly sweet, "Wouldn't you want that nice lady from earlier to be your mommy?"

…And she even had to drag Ollie into it.

Axel closed his eyes, taking a moment to calm down. But, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't curious at all about his son's reaction, as the boy rarely shared his thoughts - at least those regarding his 'mother', or rather lack thereof - with him. Was Ollie open to the idea of having a second parent?

Perhaps not, because Ollie lowered his head even further. "Um…" he muttered, not knowing how to respond.

Well, that was to be expected. Ollie barely knew Miss Celeste, and was still shy around the woman, so even if the possibility of him accepting her as a parent existed, it was too early to consider that.

"There you have it," Axel put his cutlery down. With all of this talk, he completely lost his appetite. "Since Ollie is not sure yet, let's drop the topic for now!"

Mrs. Chandler's brows furrowed. "Ollie is a shy boy, he always takes a lot of time to warm up to people. It would be much better if you got married first, with your future spouse around Ollie all of the time, he could adjust to the situation much quicker…"

"No, I'm not going to do that. Unless Ollie wholeheartedly wants to have a new 'mum', I won't agree to any marriage!"

At Axel's stern voice, Mrs. Chandler's frown deepened even further. Her son was always so obedient when it came to everything else, so why was he so stubborn on that? She wanted to argue some more, but her husband met her eyes, shaking his head lightly to signal her to stop, at least for now. And, as a well-mannered Omega from a respectable family, she knew to obey her Alpha.

So she backed out, even though her face was still sour.

"Marriage aside, make sure to make your decision regarding the party as soon as possible. We will need to get material samples from your partner ahead of time, so that we can coordinate your outfits," she only added, sipping on her wine.

"Yes, mum." Axel finally exhaled with relief. After such an argument, his mother would likely give him some peace for a while… Three or four days, maybe a week if he was lucky.

As for the party… He would just go alone. No matter what his parents said, he knew exactly how it'd go. The birthday party might have indeed not been a binding matter, but once he agreed to one thing, they would push for the next…

And then, before he realized what was going on, he would end up on the altar, with some 'proper' Omega hanging on his arm.

Not to mention, his rut was also about to happen around the same time, so he had to be extra careful! If an Omega were to use their pheromones on him then, he might lose control! And once he did…

Once again, the altar! If he ended up in bed with an Omega from one of the high-profile families, there would be no turning back! And, while he knew his parents would never set him up like that, he couldn't say the same thing about those who wanted to marry their children off into the Chandler family! Things like this happened, he knew at least two couples who were set up this way!

Alas, being from a rich and powerful family could also be hard sometimes.
