Chapter 240: Chapter 239: Finally Meeting
After hearing the situation clearly, Kaminari nodded and replied, "Alright, I understand."
"Boy, just be patient," Mitsui Buntais said with calm confidence. "I promise you, you'll be out of there within three days at most!"
Despite his composed demeanor, Mitsui exuded certainty. In Japan's capitalist society, the combined influence of two top conglomerates and a prestigious university was a force that even the prime minister couldn't ignore.
For ordinary people, the deaths of more than a dozen individuals would mean despair. But for those with enough power and connections, it was merely a troublesome matter to clean up.
"Hah… I didn't think I'd ever become someone with this much privilege," Kaminari muttered with a wry smile after hanging up the call. Unknowingly, he had amassed significant resources and connections.
"But why does someone like him value me so much? Did I do something extraordinary before?"
---
Outside the golden sand dome, the police, Midnight, and other Pro Heroes watched as the shimmering barrier began to dissolve. The sand reformed into several golden Poké Balls floating in mid-air.
But just as everyone's attention was fixed on Kaminari and his surroundings, the golden Poké Balls silently disappeared, vanishing without a trace.
---
"Finally, it's time to meet him… Kaminari-kun."
From the top of a nearby building, All For One gazed at Kaminari and the carnage surrounding him. He murmured to himself with great satisfaction, waiting until Kaminari and Snatch were placed into police custody. Then, his figure dissolved into the night, leaving no trace of his presence.
---
Clang!
Kaminari watched as the cell door was locked and the police officer left. He shrugged indifferently and began surveying his surroundings.
Yes, he had been detained. This was something entirely new—something that hadn't happened in either of his lives.
His father and Snatch, however, were not detained. His father was a victim and had no suspicion cast upon him, while Snatch, as a Pro Hero, was immune to such charges even if he had killed someone.
Kaminari, on the other hand, had no Hero license—temporary or otherwise—and the burns on the bodies of the deceased were clear evidence of his involvement.
Because it was already late, the police had decided to hold him overnight at the local station. In the morning, they would transfer him to the Saitama Police Headquarters for further processing.
After all, this was a case involving "unauthorized use of Quirks resulting in deaths," and the deaths of more than a dozen individuals at that. The matter was far too serious to be handled lightly.
---
"So this is what a detention room looks like… it's surprisingly cozy," Kaminari thought as he sat on the iron bed pressed against the wall.
The room was small but tidy. The floor was covered in tatami mats, a small LCD TV hung on the wall, and there was even a table and chairs, likely for eating.
"This must be a single room. Looks like Midnight pulled some strings for me. That's good, less chance of any unnecessary trouble," Kaminari mused, leaning back.
---
Outside the police station entrance.
"Well, Kaminari Denki is in your hands now," Midnight said, addressing two Pro Heroes standing before her. She was reluctant to leave, but the station staff had refused to let her stay due to her close relationship with Kaminari.
Instead, the duty of watching over him had been handed to the Pro Heroes "Rope-Man" and "Flash Man."
"Don't worry, Midnight-senpai," Flash Man assured her enthusiastically. "We'll make sure Kaminari Denki stays safe. If anything happens, we'll notify you immediately!"
As Midnight left, Flash Man couldn't help but let his thoughts wander. They say Midnight likes flings… If I'm lucky, maybe she'll pick me next!
Barely half a minute after Midnight departed, Rope-Man scoffed loudly. "Has the hero world fallen so far? We're protecting a demon who killed more than a dozen people?"
The bitterness in his voice was unmistakable. He held a deep resentment toward both Midnight and Kaminari, and the latter's current predicament brought him a twisted sense of satisfaction.
"Huh?"
Flash Man, clad in a tight white-and-green suit, frowned at Rope-Man's remark. He turned to his colleague with a look of clear disapproval.
"Listen, I don't know if you have issues with Midnight or U.A. High School, but let me give you some advice," Flash Man said coldly. "If your problem is with her, fine. But if you're badmouthing U.A., I'd keep it to yourself."
To Flash Man, U.A. High School represented an unshakable beacon of justice, an institution that had stood tall even during the darkest times. He wasn't a U.A. graduate himself, but he deeply respected its legacy. Hearing someone insult it struck a nerve.
"What did you just say?!" Rope-Man snapped, his anger flaring.
"You heard me. And let me make one thing clear: if you insult U.A. again, I'll report you to have your license revoked. Maybe then I'll teach you a lesson," Flash Man shot back, his voice laced with contempt.
To emphasize his point, his body began to glow faintly, radiating a soft white light.
"You think I'm scared of you?" Rope-Man sneered, activating his Quirk. The alloy ropes wrapped around his body began to move as if alive. "You're just some overhyped rookie!"
The tension between the two was palpable, but it was suddenly interrupted by a low, hoarse laugh—a sound that sent chills down their spines.
"I didn't expect to witness such a fascinating scene," a voice said, calm yet menacing. "Unfortunately, I have more pressing matters to attend to, so I'll have to cut your performance short."
"Who's there?!"
Rope-Man and Flash Man's expressions changed immediately as they turned to face the source of the voice. What they saw made their blood run cold.
The figure before them wore a black suit and hood, his imposing presence amplified by the lifeless bodies of the officers who had been stationed nearby, now lying silently on the ground.
"Kaminari Denki is inside, isn't he?" All For One asked, his tone polite yet dripping with malice. "I've been looking forward to this meeting for a long time."
Both Heroes recognized the danger immediately. Without hesitation, they activated their Quirks, preparing to attack the intruder.
"Rope Binding!"
"Here Comes the Flash!"
Several alloy ropes, glowing with brilliant white light, shot toward All For One. At the same time, Flash Man charged forward, his armor designed to counter blinding light, moving at breakneck speed.
---
"How unimpressive."
All For One raised his hand slightly. A surge of immense pressure burst forth.
"Shockwave."
"Boom!"
The attack hit both Heroes like a freight train, shattering their armor and uniforms. Each collapsed with gaping wounds in their chests, leaving behind pools of blood as the air filled with the smell of iron.
---
Inside the police station, more officers rushed toward the scene, alerted by the noise. But before they could step outside, another shockwave blew them back. Blood and debris scattered in every direction as they were torn apart.
---
Tap. Tap. Tap.
In the detention room, Kaminari had already risen to his feet, his body tense. The sound of slow, deliberate footsteps echoed down the dark corridor.
Soon, a tall figure emerged from the shadows, his face obscured by a hood.
"First time meeting, Kaminari-kun," All For One said, his voice calm but heavy with intent.
"Crack!"
Golden sparks flickered as Kaminari activated his high-voltage mode, entering his enhanced mode. His hair stood on end as his body glowed with golden light.
"You're here to see me?" Kaminari asked cautiously, his tone low and measured.
