Chapter 238: Chapter 237: All For One’s Expectations
"Boom!!!"
A ball of golden light erupted at Nicholas Fu's location, blasting apart the concrete floor and sending sparks and debris flying everywhere.
"This kid… he's so fast," Nicholas Fu thought, his casual attitude evaporating in an instant.
"But why are lightning-type Quirks so fast?!"
"Crackling!"
"Whoosh!"
Kaminari gave him no time to dwell on the question. His entire body transformed into a streak of lightning again, exuding an unrelenting, aggressive posture that screamed he wouldn't stop until the fight was over.
"Don't get cocky, brat!" Nicholas Fu snarled, the cruelty in his eyes intensifying. Turning to his gang, he barked, "What are you idiots waiting for?! Take him down!"
Even if they couldn't beat Kaminari outright, they could at least create enough distractions for him to exploit.
As for their safety, Nicholas Fu didn't care. He was already considering the possibility that he wouldn't escape unscathed today, why should he concern himself with their survival? After all, weren't underlings there to be sacrificed?
"Boom!"
"Whoosh!"
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Without needing further orders, Black Cannon and the others sprang into action. Those with firearms opened fire relentlessly, while those with long-range Quirks unleashed their abilities.
The others, lacking either firearms or suitable Quirks, charged forward, hoping to overwhelm Kaminari with brute force. Most of them had mutant-type Quirks, with alien or animal-like features.
Take, for example, a man whose upper body resembled a bright red lobster but whose lower half was entirely human. His Quirk was virtually useless in combat, but his body was tough enough to make him effective as cannon fodder.
These individuals were often physically strong, with thick skin and high endurance, making them ideal for close combat.
---
Faced with this onslaught, Kaminari made a sharp turn, leaping into the air to avoid the barrage of bullets and shells.
His "High Voltage Mode" could provide some degree of defense, but it wasn't enough to withstand sustained gunfire or explosive attacks.
"He's in the air!" Black Cannon shouted, tracking the golden blur with his sharp eyes.
The rest of the gang quickly adjusted their aim, redirecting their attacks skyward. But Kaminari moved first.
"Electric Flash!"
A blinding ball of golden light erupted from Kaminari's body, so bright it almost turned white. For a moment, it was as if a miniature sun had risen within the golden dome, flooding every corner with light.
"Ahhhh, my eyes!"
"I can't see! I can't see anything!"
The gang members screamed in pain as the intense light robbed them of their vision. For most, it was as if dozens of flashbangs had exploded at once. Even those with heightened reflexes or sixth senses were caught off guard, leaving only a handful who managed to close their eyes in time.
"Skreeeee!!"
At the same time, an ear-piercing sound, like the cries of thousands of birds, tore through the air. It was so sharp and grating that it made the gang members clutch their ears in agony.
But soon, they had far more pressing concerns.
"Ahhhh!"
"Pfft—"
"Argh!!"
Screams of pain and the sickening sound of bodies being struck and broken echoed through the space. The once-overconfident gang members now realized the true terror of their opponent.
From Pikachu's vantage point on the distant Lightning Bird, the scene was clear. Kaminari, shrouded in golden lightning, was mercilessly cutting through the Black Tiger Gang.
The dark-gold lightning blade in his hand glowed with a dangerous brilliance, but it wasn't as terrifying as the cold, expressionless look on Kaminari's face.
Every strike drew blood, and every wound inflicted sent crimson arcs splattering into the air. But none of it reached Kaminari. The high-voltage current surrounding him burned away any blood that dared come near, giving him an almost divine, untouchable aura.
"Stop!!"
"Kaminari, stop!"
Nicholas Fu's enraged roar was drowned out by Kaminari's father's desperate cries.
Compared to Fu's loud, guttural shouts, Kaminari's father's voice was softer, but it carried deep worry and shock.
He barely recognized the young man before him. Was this really his sunny, kind-hearted son?
What Kaminari's father didn't know was that Kaminari's brightness and warmth existed only for his family. He was willing to become their perfect son, but to protect them, he would cast aside everything else.
---
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Nicholas Fu bounced rapidly between the dome's walls and the ground, using his spring-enhanced legs to chase after Kaminari.
"Damn it! Damn it! I'm just a hair's breadth away! Why can't I catch him?!"
Fu had always prided himself on his speed, even fantasizing about competing with All Might one day. But today, reality crushed that delusion mercilessly.
---
Outside the dome, the scene was already chaotic. Police had cordoned off the area, and several Pro Heroes had arrived. Midnight, dressed in her iconic outfit, approached alongside five other Heroes.
The moment Midnight saw the massive golden dome, she paused, her eyes narrowing. It looked eerily familiar.
After a moment, recognition dawned on her. She remembered the display during Kaminari Denki's fight with Snatch just a few days prior.
At that moment, a police officer approached Midnight. "We've pulled surveillance from nearby streets and identified some of the individuals involved," he reported, summarizing the situation.
Midnight frowned. A bad feeling settled in her chest. "This is going to be trouble," she muttered under her breath.
"What's the plan? Should we try to break in?" one of the Heroes asked.
Midnight shot him a sharp look, her irritation evident. "Break in? With what? None of us here have the kind of destructive Quirks or tools needed to penetrate that dome."
"What do we do, then?" the officer asked, his brow furrowed. He thought he could hear faint screams coming from inside.
"What else can we do? We wait," Midnight replied curtly. She stepped aside, pulling out her phone.
After a few rings, someone answered on the other end.
"What's the matter, Midnight?"
"Mr. Principal, it's Kaminari," Midnight said grimly, quickly explaining the situation.
There was a long silence on the other end before Nezu replied.
"I understand."
---
After ending the call, Nezu, still at U.A. handling school matters, immediately made another call. This time, he sought backup, realizing that U.A. alone might not be able to suppress the fallout of this incident.
"Kaminari must be saved," Nezu thought to himself as the phone rang. "No matter what. If we lose him now, he'll fall into the abyss."
There was no way he would let a group of petty criminals destroy Kaminari Denki's future.
---
Meanwhile, on a nearby high-rise about 100 meters away, a tall man in a black suit and mask observed the scene. He stood over two meters tall, his figure imposing even from a distance.
His gaze remained fixed on the golden dome, the light reflecting ominously in his dark eyes.
"Finally... It's finally time," the man murmured. His voice was deep and sinister.
"Don't be afraid, Kaminari Denki. When you jump, I'll be waiting below to catch you… and I'll never let you go."
