Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Those Who Want to Approach the Sun
Hayama Hayato was feeling helpless.
One phone call from Yukinoshita Haruno, and he was dragged to the mall—where he ended up carrying all her shopping bags.
To an outsider, it might look like Haruno was interested in him, but Hayama knew better.
She had only called him out to ask about Yukinoshita Yukino.
Their sisterly relationship was poor.
Haruno never reached out to her directly—instead, she relied on Hayama to gather information about her sister's life at school.
Their connection wasn't a coincidence, either.
Hayama's father was the legal advisor for the Yukinoshita family's construction company, meaning he had always been positioned below Haruno since childhood.
But that wasn't what truly kept him in her orbit.
The real reason was simple—
He liked her.
From childhood, Haruno had always been exceptional.
To him, she was flawless.
It was because of her that Hayama worked so hard—because only by excelling could he hope to be worthy of her.
But after entering high school, he finally understood—
No matter how hard he tried, he would never be able to reach her.
So, he buried his feelings.
Just as he was lost in thought—
"Hayama-kun, do you know those students over there?"
Haruno's voice pulled him back to reality.
He followed her gaze and saw—
Yuigahama Yui and Su Yu.
Yui quickly averted her eyes, while Su Yu simply stared out the window.
"That boy is Su Yu, the new member of the Service Club," Hayama answered after a pause.
"Oh?"
Haruno's eyes sparkled with curiosity, and she walked straight toward them.
Hayama hesitated for a moment—then followed after her.
The Encounter
Step by step, Haruno approached their table.
"Mind if I sit next to you?"
She smiled as she looked directly at Su Yu.
Yui opened her mouth slightly, caught off guard.
"If you'd like to sit, please take the seat across from me. I have a slight aversion to strong perfume," Su Yu replied calmly.
"Avoiding perfume? That's an interesting excuse. Afraid your girlfriend will get jealous?"
Haruno turned to Yui, her smile deepening.
Yui's face flushed red, and she lowered her head—but deep down, she was secretly happy.
"Su Yu-kun, Yuigahama-san. Good evening," Hayama greeted them.
"Good evening," Su Yu acknowledged him with a glance.
Yui, on the other hand, remained silent.
She had always assumed that Hayama and Haruno were a couple, and that assumption made her reluctant to engage with him.
Haruno gracefully took a seat beside Yui.
Hayama had no choice but to sit next to Su Yu.
"I'm Yukino's older sister, Yukinoshita Haruno," she introduced herself while ordering a coffee.
"I called Hayama-kun out to ask about my little sister's school life."
She seemed to notice Yui's misunderstanding and clarified their relationship.
"Y-You're Yukinoshita-san's sister?!" Yui was shocked.
"Mhm." Haruno nodded with a smile.
"You two… feel like the sun and the moon," Su Yu remarked, studying Haruno carefully.
Haruno's eyes twinkled with curiosity.
"The sun and the moon?" she echoed.
"The moon is silent and distant, sometimes even cold and untouchable," Su Yu explained.
"But the sun is warm and radiant. However, if you get too close, it burns you."
Haruno fell silent for a moment—then smiled.
"Su Yu-kun, you're quite interesting."
Then, she looked toward Hayama.
"Hayama-kun, don't you think Su Yu-kun's words are fascinating?"
"…Yeah. Very," Hayama responded—though his gaze briefly lingered on Su Yu.
He wasn't sure whether Su Yu had spoken casually or deliberately, but—
It felt like a warning.
"Su Yu-kun, you're in the Service Club, right? That means you see my little sister every day. Don't you think she's adorable? Have you fallen for her yet?"
Haruno grinned playfully.
Yui, upon hearing that, lifted her head and stared at Su Yu.
"…Adorable?"
Su Yu looked genuinely confused by the question.
"Isn't my little Yukino cute?" Haruno pressed on.
"Do you know what your sister's nickname at school is?" Su Yu countered.
"'The Untouchable Flower,' right?"
"Exactly," Su Yu said.
"Most people don't see her cuteness—they see her as unapproachable."
Haruno wasn't satisfied with his answer.
"Is that what you think too, Su Yu-kun?"
Su Yu studied Haruno for a moment.
Then, he spoke.
"I admit—when I first met her, I was stunned by her beauty.
But after spending time in the Service Club, I've gotten used to the silence.
For me, the Service Club is a peaceful place—a place where I can eat lunch in peace and read quietly."
"She's so beautiful—I don't believe you haven't fallen for her," Haruno teased.
"I admire Yukinoshita-san," Su Yu admitted.
"But as for you, Yukinoshita Haruno—I prefer to keep my distance."
Haruno let out a mock gasp of surprise.
"Su Yu-kun, that's so harsh—saying that right to my face!"
She feigned a hurt expression.
Ignoring her, Su Yu turned to Yui.
"It's getting late. Let me walk you home."
"Mm!"
Yui nodded quickly and stood up.
Haruno didn't stop them.
She simply watched as they left the café, her smile deepening.
Her intuition told her—
Su Yu and Yukino's paths were bound to intertwine in interesting ways.
Outside the Café
As soon as they stepped outside, Su Yu naturally reached for Yui's hand.
Yui, feeling his warm grip, smiled softly.
She was satisfied with how Su Yu had talked about Yukino.
If he had spoken poorly of her, it would have felt insincere.
But his words were genuine—he simply admired her, nothing more.
After all, Yukinoshita Yukino was the most beautiful girl in school.
As they walked, Su Yu suddenly said—
"Hayama likes Yukinoshita Haruno."
"…Eh?"
Yui looked up at him in shock.
"My comparison of Yukino and Haruno was also a test," Su Yu explained.
"Haruno picked up on it—and used my words to remind Hayama to let go of his feelings for her.
Hayama understood that, too."
"Then… what about Yumiko?"
Yui asked hesitantly.
"Hayama has a lot of admirers at school," Su Yu said, gazing at the sunset.
"Miura-san is strong-willed—by staying close to him, she keeps other girls from getting too close."
"This… this is unfair to Yumiko…"
Yui trailed off, struggling to find the right words.
