Chapter 15: Defending Mewni Castle
The mess in the dining room was nearly cleaned up. After sending Hooty to the nurse's office, Anne and Luz were assisting in cleaning the mess made by the fight, alongside everyone else, apart from Sasha.
"To think one little frog girl can cause so much damage," Sasha said. "She's going to be a strong fighter when she gets older. I'd say she can probably join Grime's Army."
"Uh, maybe less talking and more helping?" Anne said.
"I am helping, watch" Sasha gestured to the corner. "Luz, you missed a spot to your right. Take care of that, thanks." She turned back to Anne, "See? Helping."
"Eres tan buena para nada chica!" Luz angrily stated.
"Hey! Just because I can't understand you doesn't mean I don't know when you're insulting me!" Sasha warned.
"Also there's no way my sister is working for Grime! Or the Toads!" Sprig said.
"Hey that was meant as a compliment," Sasha said, then found herself being presented a broom by Amity.
"Less talking, more cleaning," Amity said. "Get your butt in gear."
"Oh fine, if it will get you all to stop whining," Sasha said.
"Come on Sash, this can be fun," Marcy said. "Just think of it as the next part of the date. Cleaning up is important."
"A clean castle is a happy castle," Marco said.
"More importantly, my mom won't flip out when she sees the mess," Star said. "But to Marcy's point, we can still treat this like the date, I mean passing the time through conversation helps."
"I don't know, sounds like something parents say to trick kids into doing chores," Sprig said.
"My mom tricked me into doing chores, that's how I learned martial arts," Ivy said, throwing a punch near King to exemplify her point.
"Geez! Don't startle me like that!" King shouted.
"Oh you're fine," Ivy said. "If you're that worried, maybe your new little girlfriend can help you learn some fighting moves."
"Why does it sound like you're saying that in a mocking tone?" King annoyingly pointed out. "Also, who says Polly is my girlfriend anyway? Just because we went on a date doesn't mean we're a couple, otherwise Anne is Sasha's girlfriend."
"Anne puede conseguir una mejor novia o novio," Luz commented.
"She did it again," Sasha said, gesturing to Luz. "I swear she's insulting me in Spanish! Luz, speaking Spanish doesn't make you cool! It just makes you seem like a show-off! If you have something to say, then speak English!"
"I'll speak whatever language I feel like," Luz said. "Así que lidia con eso."
"What I would give for a translator," Sasha said. "But hey, if speaking another language makes you feel all special, go ahead. Personally, I find talk cheap, if you can't back up what you say, in any language, then you might as well be speaking gibberish."
"Oh I can back it up," Luz said, pulling out a glyph card. "Remember, I'm a witch in training."
"Must you two be so tense with each other?" Marco asked. "Sasha, I know Luz is flexing her bilingual skills but you shouldn't let it get to you. I don't know why you two don't like each other but this needs to end."
"I'll just say that she's the one who started it," Sasha said.
"Not important," Marco said, then turned his attention to the other girl in this argument, "As for you Luz, maybe you can chill out too. Sassing Sasha isn't doing you nay favors."
"Honestly, I'm with Marco, hearing you two bicker for a while was kind of funny but it's really getting old now," Sprig said.
"Funny how!?" Sasha asked.
"Focus here!" Marco said.
"Honestly Marco, I wouldn't waste my time," Amity said. "Luz and Sasha just don't like each other, I can't see that changing."
"I wish they would," Anne said. "I really don't want to ever have to choose between them, that would be awkward."
"Awkward for Luz maybe, I mean you would never pick her over me, right Anne?" Sasha asked. "After all, we've been friends since childhood, you and Luz have only been friends for like, what? A week or something?"
"Wow, way to put the pressure on Anne," Luz said. "Also it took me less than a week to bond with Eda and King, some friendships happen fast. It's like Love at first sight."
"Did you REALLY need to phrase it like that?" Amity said.
"I don't mean romantic love..." Luz said, feeling a bit awkward now. "I'm just saying that it's possible to bond really fast. I bet it didn't take Anne long to bond with Sprig and Polly."
"Polly took a bit of time," Anne said.
"Yeah, the first few days, I was convinced that Anne would try to eat us or something," Polly said. "But she didn't so it's all good."
"We're getting off track here," Marco said.
"Marco, just forget it," Luz said. "It doesn't matter if you try saying anything, or Anne, or Marcy, I just can't get along with Sasha."
"You know what, that's fine, not everyone's gonna be friends, that doesn't mean we can't coexist," Marco said. "I don't like all of Star's friends, and things work out fine."
"Wait, which of my friends do you not like?" Star asked. "Pony Head? I told you her sassing and insulting you is just part of her personality."
"Well pardon me if I get annoyed from being constantly disrespected!" Marco said.
"See, you know exactly how I feel!" Sasha said.
Marco groaned in annoyance, "Thanks a lot, Star."
"Hey you opened your big mouth, not me," Star said.
"Seriously?" Marco said in annoyance, the boy feeling only at peace once Marcy placed her hand on his shoulder.
"You did your best to help," Marcy said.
"You know, when Star said we would have a chance to bond, this is not what I had in mind," Tom said.
"Look, maybe we need time apart, I guess we're all still a bit high strung after breaking up a fight," Marco said.
"You didn't do anything to break it up though," Star said. "You and Marcy ditched us, probably to start making out."
"We weren't making out...the whole time!" Marco said. "And we came right back, it's just that..."
"I had something to tell Marco, it was kind of personal and I didn't want to say it in front of everyone," Marcy said.
"Personal? Wait, you told Marco a personal problem about you?" Anne asked.
"Well, yeah," Marcy said.
"Oh, I cannot believe this!" Sasha shouted. "First Anne, now Marcy."
"You know Marcy's my girlfriend, if she wants to tell me something private, she's allowed to," Marco said. "I mean I'm willing to bet you have secrets you haven't told your friends yet."
"Excuse me, I happen to be very open and honest with my friends," Sasha said.
"Qué montón de mierda," Luz said.
"Enough with the fucking Spanish already!" Sasha shouted. "If you have something to say to me, grow a pair and say it to me in a language we both speak!"
"ENOUGH!" Marco shouted, loud enough to startle everyone in the room. "This is getting us nowhere. Marcy had something to tell me because there was something she wanted to talk to Anne and Sasha about and needed to run it by me first."
"Why would she need to do that?" Anne asked. "I mean, I get that you're her boyfriend now but she should know she can tell us anything without running it by someone."
"Anne, tell me, hasn't there ever been something you've been hesitant to tell your friends? Haven't you felt the tiniest bit of worry about how your friends would feel if you told them?" Marco asked.
"Well...I mean..." Anne nervously rubbed her head. She couldn't deny there were times she wanted to keep her mouth shut about something, especially when it came to Sasha.
"Anne, at least remember the time you were mad at Hop Pop because he hid the Calamity Box at one point," Marcy said. "You know how hard it is for someone to be honest with you about something that's happened."
"I guess you have a point," Anne said.
"Did you forgive Hop Pop?" Marco asked.
"Well, I did...but I still felt mad," Anne said. "It took a while to really get over it, even now I'm still kind of mad that he did that."
"Why would he do something like that?" Star asked.
"He did it to protect us," Sprig said.
"Yeah, Hop Pop feels like it's his fault that our parents died, he did everything in his power to make sure nothing bad happened to us," Polly said.
"Oh yeah, I remember Hop Pop talking about that," Luz said.
"I guess the point is that we all have something we're worried about telling our friends about, and Marcy's no exception," Marco said. "You understand now Anne?"
"Yeah...I do," Anne said. "Marcy, if there's something you want to tell me and Sasha, we're all ears."
"Yeah, we're pals, you can tell us anything," Sasha said.
"Well, I'm just worried because, I don't want you to be mad," Marcy said.
"We won't be, promise," Anne said.
"Anne, not to tell you how to be a friend but, you can't promise you won't be mad, because you can't always predict how something will make you feel," Marco said. "If she says something that makes you mad, and you bottle it up to prove you aren't mad, it's just going to tear you up inside."
"I guess you have a point," Anne said. "Alright, let me put it like this. Marcy, I'll try not to get mad, but even if I do, you're my friend and I care about you. I'll forgive you eventually."
"Yeah, same," Sasha said. "Now spill girl, what happened."
Before Marcy could explain, they heard a voice call out, "Star!"
"Huh?" Star turned to the door. "Mina? What are you doing here?"
Everyone turned their attention to Mina Loveberry, arguably Mewni's strongest warrior. "There you are, I've been looking everywhere for you!"
Sasha whispered to Marco, "Is that Mina Loveberry?"
"Yeah, that's her," Marco said. "Mina, it's been a while, where have you been?"
"Uh, in the castle, where else?" Mina asked.
"Huh? I haven't seen you in forever though!" Marco said.
"Hey I've been busy keeping Mewni safe from witches! Hekapoo warned me to keep a close eye out for any intruders from the Boiling Isles, and I may have found a few," Mina said, gesturing to the door. "Behold, an all-powerful witch!"
"Former All Powerful!" came a voice. "For now"
"Wait, isn't that Eda?" Star asked.
True to her theory, Eda had come through the door alongside Hop Pop, using her Palisman to carry Lilith, "Star! Big problem!"
"You two know each other?" Mina asked.
"Yeah I know her! I'm a guest at the castle!" Eda said. "Star, you really need to work on the communication between your soldiers, they seem a little inept."
"HEY!" Mina shouted.
"Eh, what can you do?" Star said. "Anyway, what's wrong?"
"It's my sister," Eda said, holding up the woman.
"Lilith?" Luz said, the girl concerned for the witch.
"Let me see," Star made her way over to check on the woman, though one look at her face told the story. "Holy crab cakes!"
"Star, what's wrong?" Luz asked.
"She lost her soul!" Star said.
"She what!?" Luz asked, rushing over with Amity and King. "Eda, what happened! Who did this to her?"
"Eclipsa's freakish daughter!" Eda said.
"Wait, you found Meteora!?" Star asked. "Is she alright?"
"Alright!? That crazy bimbo attacked us and took my sister's soul and you're worried about her!?" Eda shouted.
"Now, now, Eda, lets not lose our temper," Hop Pop said. "I mean, there is more to this story."
"Well tell us, what happened, where did you find Meteora and..." Star looked around. "Wait, where's my mom? And where's Eclipsa."
"I...don't know where your mom is," Eda said. "She took a blast from Meteora and left in some portal right afterwards. Her face though, it looked a little messed up."
"Wait...messed up how!?" Star asked. "What did Meteora do to my mom!?"
"Star, I know you're worried, but try to keep a cool head," Marco said.
"Yeah, you're right," Star said. "First tell me, this portal. What did it look like? Like how big was it?"
"Well, big enough for a grown woman to enter," Eda said. "Not too different from those scissors you kids use."
"What color was it?" Star asked.
"Uh...rainbow I think?" Eda said, scratching her head.
"It was really swirly," Hop Pop said.
"Hm, alright then, so my mom went through some weird portal huh?" Star asked, rubbing her chin. "Right after she took a blow from Meteora?"
"Yeah, pretty much," Eda said. "She was so close to bringing that monster down too, but Eclipsa just had to mess everything up."
"Eclipsa? Wait, what did she do?" Star asked.
"Moon was about to unleash this big attack, then Eclipsa jumped in, messing the attack up, and leaving Moon open long enough for Meteora to get a good clean hit on her!" Eda then turned to her sister. "If that wasn't enough, she did this to my sister!"
"I see...and where is Eclipsa now?" Star asked.
"We ditched her, it's her fault that Moon got hurt and that my sister got her soul stolen," Eda said. "I know she's a relative of yours Star but, I can't say I'm too fond of that woman after today."
"Perfectly understandable," Star said. "Listen, my advice, take Lilith to the infirmary for now. We're gonna have to find a way to reverse this. It's possible since this happened to Hekapoo and her boys once, but it will be pretty tough."
"Wait, The Commission had their souls stolen?" Hop Pop asked.
"Didn't think Hekapoo had one to begin with," Eda sassed.
"You won't be dissing my girl Hekapoo once she fixes your sister up," Sasha said.
"Noted kid," Eda sarcastically said.
"Tom, do me a favor, find the guards, and give them an order from me," Star said.
"Sure, what do you need me to tell them?" Tom asked.
"Tell them that when they see Eclipsa, to cuff her and send her to the dungeon," Star said.
Tom's eyes widened in shock, "Wait, you want them to do what!?"
"You heard me, if what Eda said is true, then Eclipsa going to be a liability during this Meteora situation," Star said.
"I mean...I guess that's a good point," Tom said. "Still, it seems kind of harsh, she's your great grandmother."
"I really don't freaking care right now Tom, just do what I told you to do!" Star said. "Eda, I'm going to prepare. Mind making sure Tom follows through on my order?"
"You don't even have to ask," Eda said.
"What about me?" Mina asked.
"See if you can block off Meteora, grab some soldiers if you need to," Star said. "There should be a Newt girl from Ampihibia named Yunan, she's pretty strong, see if she can help too."
"Sure..." Mina said. "Also, been meaning to ask, who are all these other kids? Are they humans?"
"Name's Sasha Waybright, First Lieutenant of the Toad Army and a good friend of Hekapoo," Sasha said.
"Right, I think I've heard your name get passed around, you sound strong," Mina said.
"Oh I am strong, I'd love to show you first hand just how much of a punch I can pack," Sasha said.
"Flex later Sasha," Marco said. "Anyway Mina, to answer your questions, they are humans. In addition to Sasha, meet Anne, Marcy and Luz."
"The girl with the crossbow is Marco's new girlfriend," Tom said.
"Crossbow? Is she a warrior?" Mina asked, analyzing Marcy. "She looks so scrawny though."
"I'm tougher than I look, though I fancy myself as more the brains of the team," Marcy said.
"What about that one?" Mina pointed to Amity.
"That's Amity, a witch," Marco said. "She's friendly though."
"Well I like her hair color, purple's a good look," Mina said, fluffing her own hair. "Well, I'm off to defeat a monster."
"Oh wait, do you want to meet the rest of our friends?" Marco asked, gesturing to Sprig and company.
"I'll see your pets later, right now, I'm off!" Mina said, making her leave.
"Pets!?" King asked. "I'm not a pet!"
"Yeah, neither are we!" Sprig said. "The nerve of that all-powerful warrior lady!"
"Hopefully she can bring down Meteora, meanwhile we need to figure out this situation with my mom," Star said, making her exit. "Let's go Marco."
"Uh...sure, but what about everyone else?" Marco asked.
Star groaned in annoyance, "If anyone wants to come, let them."
"You all go, I want to check on Lilith," King said. "And Hooty for that matter."
"We'll join you," Sprig said. "Catch up with you later Star!"
"Sure thing Sprig. Now let's go everyone!" Star ordered again, the rest of the kids following.
"Wow, she's not happy," Eda said. "Not that I blame her."
"Well for now, let's get Lilith checked up on," Hop Pop said.
"Sure, sounds good," Eda said, making her leave with the other kids following her and Hop Pop.
"Well, I have something unfortunate to tell the guards," Tom said, floating off.
In the halls, Star walked off with Marco and the others.
"Hey Star, are you taking this situation well?" Marco asked. "I mean, with your mom not around, you're technically going to be Mewni's new Queen."
"Acting queen," Star emphasized. "My mom's still out there."
"Right, of course, Acting Queen," Marco said. "Still, how are you doing?"
"How do you think I'm doing!? I'm freaking out here!" Star said.
"Hey it's fine, I'm actually worried too," Marco said. "I mean, this makes me the Queen's squire."
"Marco!" Star scolded.
"I mean Acting Queen!" Marco said.
"Squire?" Sasha asked. "Like a Knight?"
"I don't want to get into that Knight debate again but, yes, I'm Star's squire," Marco said.
"That's pretty amazing. Wow, Squire to the Que-" Luz noticed Star's annoyed expression. "I mean, Squire to the Acting Queen."
"This is so frustrating, with my mom not around, that means I have to make all the decisions in her place!" Star said.
"Wait, what about your dad?" Marcy asked. "Isn't he still King?"
"Not how it works, there needs to be a Queen in charge," Star said.
"Oh, right, matriarchy," Marcy said. "Still seems so flawed, I mean it's like the patriarchy, but reversed. Where's the equality?"
"NOT! THE POINT!" Star shouted. "I have to be the Queen but I am not ready for that type of responsibility!"
"I can be Queen if you want," Sasha said.
"Sasha, Seriously?" Marco scolded.
"Just an offer," Sasha insisted.
"Ugh...what would mama do right now?" Star wondered as she stared at portrait of her mother, as if expecting a sign.
After a few seconds, nothing happened, much to the confusion of the other teens.
"Star? What are you doing?" Sasha asked.
"Shh, I'm waiting for an answer," Star said.
Amity raised her eyebrow, then whispered to Marco, "She knows that's just a portrait right? Or is this some Mewman magic?"
"No, it's just Star being...Star," Marco said. "Look, maybe we should-"
Suddenly a trumpet went off, startling and annoying everyone present.
"DUDE!" Anne shouted.
"Way too loud!" Amity complained.
"Your trumpet skills suck!" Sasha said.
The trumeteer Sanfred paid little mind, "Queen Star!"
"Acting Queen!" Star corrected.
"We have a situation that demands your attention," the trumpeter said, gesturing to a man. "May I present Mr. Bugbert Swampington." He gestured to some floating relatives. "And his family."
"Oh boy...um, was this the work of a giant monster perhaps?" Marco asked.
"On the money there boy," Swampington said.
"The Butterflies are on the job sir, we will have this fixed," Star said.
"Oh, alright," Swampington said.
The trumpeteer blew his horn again, promting Sasha to grabbed it, slam it on the ground and stomped it flat. "That's for giving me a headache!"
"You owe me a new horn," Sanfred said. "Moving on, Queen Star, the scouting Raven has returned with news of the monster."
"The monster...it approaches...THE CASTLE!" The raven said, then immediately flew off.
"Well that was super creepy," Anne said.
"Eh, pretty tame compared to Amphibia," Marcy said.
"And the Boiling Isles," Luz added.
"Well, what shall we do?" Sanfred asked.
"We'll figure it out, let's go team," Star said, leading her friends off.
"Bless you my queen," Sanfred said.
"She's Acting Queen!" Marcy called.
Star had led her team into her council room where many of Mewni's guards had gathered, alongside General Grime, Raine and Amber. This being right after dramatically kicking the door down just because. "Alright everyone, hi, nice to see you. Now, onto the sour news. My mom is gone, but just for now! She'll be coming back soon! We'll just need to work on that."
"A lot of work," Sasha muttered.
"Sash, not the time..." Anne whispered.
"Until she comes back, we need to...heeeeey!" Star frowned upon noticing the Magic High Commission. "What are you three doing here!?"
"We're counseling you?" Hekapoo pointed out, albeit somewhat sarcastically.
"No! Uh-uh! I don't think so! No liars allowed!" Star shouted, using her magic to open the door behind her. "Out! All of you! Right now!"
"Star, you can't be serious. Aren't they like, super important!?" Sasha asked.
"Meteora is coming after us because they decided to trade her away when she was a baby! I am not letting them make this worse!" Star shouted. "So long as I'm Acting Queen, they will never be part of any of this!"
"Big mistake," Rhombulus said.
"You're gonna need us!" Hekapoo said.
"Omnitrax Prime has-"
"QUIET!" Star shouted, her eyes glowing. "Get out of my council room!"
"Ugh, lets go boys," Hekapoo said, pushing Omnitrax Prime's cart. "Sasha, come meet me later, we'll figure this out ourselves if we need to."
"You got it," Sasha said. "You know I'm always by your side."
"Oh, you wanna be by her side, then you can leave too," Star said.
Sasha raised her eyebrow, "You're joking right?"
"Do I look like I am joking!?" Star said, trying to look intimidating, though Sasha couldn't fully take it seriously.
"Kind of...?" Sasha said, making the situation somewhat worse for herself. "For real though, I thought you and I were cool! Now you're turning against me for siding with Hekapoo!?"
"GO!" Star demanded, freaking Sasha out.
"Ugh, fine," Sasha said, turning around. "Some Queen you're turning out to be."
"ACTING QUEEN!" Star emphasized.
"Whatever, I'm out. Let's go Grime!" Sasha said.
"Me?" Grime asked. "Shouldn't I be here since..."
"No, you leave too," Star said. "I know you're a traitor to your Kingdom, I am not taking any chances around you!"
"Well, that's rather harsh," Grime said, making his way out. "Your call though, but you're missing out on having a bit of muscle on your side."
"Come on Grime, we'll go find Mina Loveberry, she'll appreciate what we have to offer," Sasha explained. Grime began to leave alongside a muttering Sasha, "Acting Queen...more like Acting Bitch."
Star immediately slammed the door, focusing back on the meeting at hand. Anne and Marcy looked visibly concerned, they wanted to speak up for Sasha but didn't want to risk upsetting Star. Luz seemed satisfied, something Amity had noticed. While the young witch didn't care that much for Sasha, it did bother her a tiny bit to see Luz seemingly happy at someone else's misfortune.
"Uh, Star, I know you're stressed out but was it a good idea to just kick everyone out like that?" Marcy asked. "I mean they can still be useful."
"I have plenty of useful people right here," Star said.
Marcy turned to those in the room, a few of them didn't exactly spark any confidence within her, "Are you sure about-"
"Okay," Star said, interrupting Marcy. "Here's the situation. Meteora is on her way here right now, and no one's been able to stop her yet. Mina's out there but she's with another who, while talented, and a general, is not as experienced with this stuff. Sooooo, I'm opening the floor for any ideas you got. Don't be shy, there are no dumb suggestions."
"Unless it involves doing something to endanger yourself or others," Anne said.
"Alright, there might be dumb suggestions but a little brainstorming doesn't hurt," Star said. "How about you Sir Scarsbard? You've led the Mewi army against Marauding Monsters for three generations! You even taught me how to wield a sword. In this time, your skills would-"
"What'd she say?" Scarsbard asked, holding a hearing horn to his ear.
"She said there's a monster you need to fight!" an old woman said.
"Uh, what?" Scarsbard asked.
"There's a monster!" the old woman repeated.
"Still can't hear you," Scarsbard said.
This back and forth went on a bit, Anne quickly nudging Star, "I think your old trainer's way past his prime here."
"Unfortunately," Star said, moving on. "Sir Muscleton!"
"What's up, Baby Girl?" The knight asked.
"Ugh, he's one of those, huh?" Luz commented.
Star meanwhile looked displeased, the princess slowly standing up, "What did you just call me?"
"I believe I called you...Baby Girl," Muscleton said, this earning himself a blast from Star's wand.
"Alright, so Sir Dashing of Muscleton will not be able to help us," Star said, her actions freaking everyone out. "Raine, any suggestions?"
"I don't know enough about this monster to offer meaningful advice," Raine said. "I'm sorry I can't be of more assistance."
"That's fine...at least you're honest," Star frustratingly said. "Marco, Amity, Earth Girl Trio, what do you got?"
"Earth Girl Trio?" Anne asked. "You know, come to think of it, we need a group name."
"Yeah, plus it's a quartet with Sasha around," Marcy said. "She's technically still part of our gruqp."
"Sasha's already looking for Mina. Plus if she wants, she can team with Hekapoo, I mean she clearly likes her more than she likes you," Star said, surprising Marcy.
"Star!" Anne scolded.
"Eh, ella no esta mal," Luz said, earning a glare from Anne.
"Your Spanish quips were somewhat cute with Sasha, but I'm getting a bit annoyed with this too. Now repeat what you said, in English," Anne said.
Luz, feeling somewhat intimidated, not for fear of Anne, but fear of upsetting her, obliged, "I said she's not...entirely wrong."
"Luz...that is not an appropriate thing to say," Anne said. "Honestly, even when Sasha's not here it seems like you have to take a shot at her. I know you think she's been a lousy friend but please let me and Marcy get angry if we need to. I'm getting tired of having to tell you this Luz, and I know you're a better person than how you act."
"Sorry Anne," Luz said.
"I know you're sorry, but please act like it too," Anne said, then turned back to Star. "Sorry for going off track, you wanted a suggestion from us too, right?"
"Just spitball, I mean you have experience with monsters, right?" Star asked.
"Yeah, just not a lot when it comes to magic monsters," Anne said.
"Well what about you Luz? You've dealt with magic and monsters," Star said.
"I might be able to come up with magic to slow her down as well," Luz said. "And I don't think it's going to be that hard to beat her. Sure she sounds strong but your mom almost won, with help from Eda and Lilith. The only reason they ended up losing is because of Eclipsa."
"Yeah, you're right," Star said. "Eclipsa screwed them over. All we need to do is combine our abilities and we have a better chance to win!"
"King Andrias's army is still available," Marco said. "Plus thanks to Belos being forced out of power, and The Boiling Isles currently liberated, maybe we can get allies from there."
"That I can help you with," Raine said.
"Great...we still need a solid plan," Star said. "But with Mina out there, hopefully she can weaken or even beat Meteora."
Suddenly two chefs came through a door, "Queen Star!"
"ACTING Queen!" Star said.
"We need to know what to make for dinner tonight," a female chef said.
"Just pick something yourselves!" Star said.
"Queen Moon usually decides what we eat though," the chef said.
"Well time for you to take some initiative," Star said. "Surprise me."
"Sure...what would you like to be surprised with?" the chef asked.
Star slowly turned to her Earth friends, "You see what Queens have to deal with?"
"Don't you mean...Acting Queens?" Marcy joked. Star's glare made her regret her choice of words. "I'll shut up now."
"I gotta go..." Star said, making her way out of the room.
"Star, wait up!" Marco said, about to follow.
"Marco, wait, maybe she just needs a bit of time to think," Anne said. "This has got to be really stressful for her. Between that monster coming, her mom missing and being Acting Queen, this all fresh off a war against Emperor Belos."
"Yeah, not a lot of breathing room," Luz said.
"Well while we're still here, we can still come up with something. It would really help Star out if we did a little thinking for her," Marcy said, then turned to everyone in the room. "That goes for all of you, put your heads together."
"We'll do our best," a guard said.
"I make no promises," Lady Scarsbard said.
"Let's get to it, pretty ladies," the recovered Muscleton said.
"Also, don't flirt with us," Marcy said. "Especially me, since I have a boyfriend."
"Pfft, who? I bet he's not the man I am," Muscleton said.
"Dude, I'm right here," Marco said.
Muscleton took a good look at Marco, seemingly analyzing him, "Yeah, she can definitely do better."
Amity used her magic to grab Muscleton and throw him out the window, "What a jerk."
"I could have handled that, but I appreciate you wanting to help Amity," Marco said.
"Sure thing, buddy," Amity said. "Alright, lets get to planning."
"Oh, before you do, can you relay a message to Queen Star?" the chef asked.
"Acting Queen, and sure, what is it?" Marco asked.
"...What do you think she'd want for dessert?" the chef asked.
Anne looked visibly annoyed and was the first to speak up, "I know you're just doing your jobs, but consider this. Star's mother, your Queen, disappeared. I don't think she can be bothered with trivial matters right now. If you really need some type of authority, why don't you talk to King River or something. Matriarchy or not, he was still in power and might have a better idea of how to handle things in the absense of your Queen!"
"Right...thing is, the Queen usually makes the choices though," the chef said.
"Cheese and Crackers..." Anne lamented. "Is this what Queen Moon had to put up with on a regular basis? Does King Andrias go through stuff like this? Being King or Queen seems like a pain in the butt."
"Look, maybe we should find Star and check on her, but not to ask her about dessert, just so we're clear," Amity said.
"Yeah, if you want dessert, just make cookies or something," Luz said. "Lets go everyone."
Later in her room, Star was seen with her face buried against a pillow, still lamenting the unfortunate situation she was in. Marco and his friends had come in to the room, checking up on the girl. "Hey Star...how's it going?"
"How does it look like it's going?" Star asked. "I can barely do any Acting Queen related stuff because I have to think for all of these Cornheads now! It's like this entire Kingdom was dependent on my mom's word. I know she's Queen but would it hurt for someone to take initiative?"
"Well maybe this is hard for them too, I mean this is the first time in a while Mewni's had a shift in power," Luz said. "Your mom was your age when she became Queen, right?"
"Yeah...wonder if she felt like this too?" Star said. "Difference is, her mom wasn't coming back, so it must have been so much harder on her."
"Good day, Acting Queen Butterfly" came the voice of an oncoming knight, bringing in a rack of clothes.
"So glad he got it right," Star said.
"Who's that?" Marcy asked.
"Sir Lavabo, he handles most of the cleaning," Star said.
"I have your laundry, freshly pressed," Lavabo said. "I have them sorted from favorite to least favorite. I also removed some stains and dyed some items to better compliment your skin tone."
"Oh wow, thank you," Star said.
"I also ironed your socks, and re-hemmed your favorite dinosaur skirt," Lavabo said.
"Aw, that's cute," Marcy said.
"Wow...that's amazing," Star said.
"Sounds like you take a lot of initiative," Anne said.
"The way I see it, it's better to take on the problem before it gets worse," Lavabo said.
"Oh wow, why didn't I see it before!" Star said. "Lavabo! You're the answer to my problems!"
"Uh, what problems?" Lavabo asked.
"Sir Lavabo, Brave and Courageous Lavabo, I have a task for you," Star said.
"Anything for you, my Queen," Lavabo said, kneeling to the girl. "Just say the word and-"
"No!" Marco said, shoving the knight out the door. "Give us a second please." He slammed the door turned to Star. "What are you thinking!?"
"Whoa, Marco, that was kind of mean," Luz said. "I mean, he looked ready to help."
"But she can't send him, he just does the laundry!" Marco said. "Send me and the girls out there."
"No, bad idea," Star said. "Marco, your Red Belt isn't going to do much. Luz is still a witch in training, Anne is a bit scrawny..."
"I had...a swordfight!" Anne pointed out.
"You're talented, but I need experience too," Star said. "I mean, the most experienced out of all of you is probably Amity."
"I have been doing magic longer," Amity said. "But Star, Luz has a lot of amazing potential as a witch."
"Potential usually means power that hasn't awakened, and unless something's going to happen where her power suddenly emerges and gives you all the strength you need to win, I can't bet everything on that," Star said.
"It works like that in anime," Luz said.
"This isn't an anime, Luz!" Star said.
"Yeah, if anything this feels more like a medieval fantasy RPG," Marcy said. "Which means we'd be better off grinding, maybe find realms with monsters to practice."
"Marcy, this is NOT a game either!" Star said. "It's not safe to just run out and look for smaller monsters to fight."
"They don't need to," Marco said, tying his hoodie to resemble a fantasy warrior. He then punched a wall to summon an axe and a mace. "I have sixteen years of experience fighting Hekapoos. How about I show you what my training amounted to in the Neverzone."
"Wait, are you asking us to spar with you?" Amity asked.
"Sure...unless you don't think you have what it takes," Marco taunted.
"Oho, so that's how you want to play it," Amity said, readying her magic. "I have been interested in testing my power again you, and Star."
"Hey I'm not in the mood to fight anyone," Star said.
"It'd make for good training," Anne said. "Lets do teams. Me, Marcy and Marco against Star, Luz and Amity. Team Magic vs Team Brawler."
"Seems like a disadvantage," Amity said.
"Yeah, for you," Marco taunted, leaning against his axe. "Just admit you don't think you can win."
"I don't know about you Star, but I'd like to take Marco down a peg," Luz said, readying her spells.
"Just try it, we're about to remind you just how us humans have survived in magic realms," Marcy said.
"Uh, you know I'm a human too," Luz reminded.
"Yeah, but you're surviving with magic, not all humans can," Marcy said. "Humans like me, Anne and Marco needed to find other ways to adapt using our regular human skills."
"Alright then, show me what you got!" Luz sent her ice magic at the trio, but Marco was quick to slice the oncoming block while Marcy jumped in with a kick that Amity was quick to block with her magic.
Anne rolled in with her racket and went for a strike but Amity used her magic to parry as Luz used her plants to grab and throw Anne.
"I got you!" Marco leapt up to grab Anne, bringing her down safely as he rushed in with a kick that knocked Luz back.
Amity went to use her magic against Anne, but the girl parried and did an elbow strike to her stomach while Marco went for a kick.
"Nice moves Anne," Marco said.
"Muay Thai Lessons come in handy," Anne said.
"Super Strawberry Shake Quake!" Star said, blasting Anne back with Strawberries.
"What in the world?" Marcy said.
"Blueberry Cupcake Bazooka!" Star said, blasting Marcy with cupcakes.
"Wow, now I'm feeling hungry," Luz said, getting back to her feet. "Hungry for battle!"
She sent more ice magic at Marco, the boy leaping aside and going for a punch that Luz barely dodged.
"Don't hold back against me!" Marco said, throwing a kick that connected with the size of Luz's head.
"I certainly won't!" Amity used her abomination magic to punch Marco aside. Marcy then used her crossbow to swing in for a kick to Amity's chest.
Anne used this moment to sneak up on stat, throwing a vicious knee strike that the Princess barely dodged.
"Narwhal Blast!" Star said, sending narwhals at Anne, the girl narrowly dodging out of the way.
"Did you come up with these attacks yourself? Gotta say they're weird but clever," Anne said.
"It's all in the wand," Star said. "I learn the spells, and I use them."
"Take this!" Marco went for a kick to his friend, but Star blocked with her wand, leaving her open for Anne to knee her from behind and elbow her away.
"Time for a flurry of destruction, Snow Spell!" Luz said, combining some glyphs to form a makeshift blizzard.
"Gonna need more than snow to stop us!" Marcy said, charging through and knocking Luz off her feet to break the spell.
Amity tried attacking Marcy but Marco was quick to shoulder ram her, the girl cartwheeling back onto her feet.
"Not bad," Amity said, striking again.
"Time for my ultimate move," Star said, readying her want. "Spider With a Top Hat!"
A spider emerged from a her wand, using his hat to fire some bazookas at the trio of enemies, but Marco was quick to destroy them with his axe and mace, then rolled in to hold his weapon against Star, who had her wand aimed against him.
Amity was about to use her magic, but Anne aimed her racket against her while Luz had her Glyphs aimed against Marcy.
"We'll call this a draw," Star said. "Well Marco, maybe you can lead us to victory."
"You bet," Marco said. "Me and the girls will get this under control."
"Luz! Amity!?" Came Willow's voice.
"Willow's back," Luz said, taking note of her oncoming friend, joined by Gus and Maddie.
"Hey Star, some of your guards just tried arresting Eclipsa," Gus said.
"Yeah, I know, I told them too," Star said.
"You what!?" Willow asked.
"All this is her fault! I made my choice," Star said.
"Well, it didn't work out because she got away," Maddie said. "The moment the guards tried taking her in, she blasted them and flew off on her umbrella."
"Ugh, dang it," Star said. "Does Eda know? What about Tom?"
"I don't know where Tom was, but Eda went after her," Maddie said.
"Fine by me," Star said. "Marco, I'm gonna go find my mom."
"You don't know where she is," Marco said.
"I have an idea, I'm going to check The Realm of Magic," Star said. "It's probably the only place where mom might have retreated to."
"The Realm of Magic!?" Marco asked. "But, it's dangerous there, you could lose your memories."
"I'll take precautions," Star said.
"I don't think you should go alone though," Marco said.
"We'll go with her," Willow said.
"Wait no, it might be too dangerous for them, they've never seen this place," Star said.
"Hey, I'd love to see how the Realm of Magic would look," Willow said.
"Same, I can only imagine the possibilities," an eager Maddie said.
"Plus, it's better to travel in a group," Gus said.
"...Fine, but you have to stick close to me, no wandering off," Star said. "That place can really mess with your head if you're not careful."
"We'll be fine," Willow said. "Lead the way."
"I'm gonna take the girls into town," Marco said. "Who knows, we might run into Sasha and Hekapoo. They can help."
"Alright, get ready for battle," Star said.
Meanwhile Meteora had gotten closer to Mewni's castle, and was ready to take back what she felt was rightfully hers.
Mina, Sasha, Grime, Yunan and The Commission waited nearby.
"There she is," Grime said, turning to the others. "Be ready to attack."
"I'll lead the charge, it's kind of my thing," Mina said.
"Ah yes, you are a legendary warrior here," Grime said. "All this talk, I should hope you live up to your expectations."
"I've seen her in action for years, she's got this," Rhombulus said.
"I am intrigued myself to see the best warrior from this dimension," Yunan said.
"Alright Sasha, pay close attention, you're about to see a true warrior in action," Mina said.
"Oh I am fully locking my sights on you," Sasha said. "I want to see how well you live up to your legacy."
"Queen Solaria doesn't pick chumps to join her army," Mina said, readying her chump. "For the Butterfly Family!"
Mina rushed in after Meteora, though within seconds, she took one blast and was floating helplessly in the air.
"...What the hell!?" Sasha asked.
"Wow...that's just sad," Grime said.
"Did not see that coming," Rhombulus said.
"Fine then, I shall fight instead!" Yunan said, leaping into action. "For King Andrias!"
Suddenly Yunan too was zapped, floating away herself.
Meteora spotted the others, "Well now, if it isn't the Magic High Commission."
"What should we do now?" Grime asked, then took a blast himself, immediately floating away.
"To my Dimension!" Hekapoo said, opening a portal and led Sasha inside. Rhombulus and Omnitrax tried going in as well, but took a blast themselves just as the portal closed.
"Well that plan went to shit," Hekapoo said, then turned to Sasha. "Seems like Meteora is going to be trouble."
"It'll be fine, we just need a new plan," Sasha said.
"Yeah, maybe...but we won't last long alone," Hekapoo said. "We gotta meet up with Marco."
"Ugh...that dork?" Sasha said. "Well if you say so. Still, I say I can do it. In fact, this is your world right? Time moves slowly here, doesn't it?"
"Yeah, what about it?" Hekapoo asked.
"Give me a few years, I'll get stronger," Sasha said, grabbing her sword. "Now, where's the nearest monster sighting?"
Meanwhile Star arrived in the Dimension of Magic alongside Willow, Gus and Maddie, the latter three amazed by what they were seeing.
"This place is so pretty..." Willow commented.
"Not bad...too pure for my liking though," Maddie said.
"You really think your mom might be here?" Gus asked.
"Worth a shot," Star said. "Remember to stay close. This world plays tricks on your mind and makes you forgetful, especially the unicorns."
"Unicorns?" Willow asked. Her question was answered when one came surfing in.
"Oh hi, it's you! And you brought friends!" the unicorn said. "Wanna play with me?"
"I don't think so, if we do, we'll be stuck here forever," Star said. "Right everyone?"
"Right," Gus said.
"Totally," Maddie said.
"Uh-huh..." Willow replied, too distracted by the unicorn. "So cute..."
"Willow!" Star scolded. "Focus!"
"Right, sorry," Willow said.
"Gus, keep an eye on her, and be careful," Star said, then brought out a pager. "Fortunately I am prepared."
"You are Star Butterfly, you must find your mom and bring her home," the voice said.
"With this, it should keep me focused," Star said. "I'll keep you all focused too, but do your best to resist."
"Sure thing," Gus said.
"Let's move," Star said, leading her team away as the unicorn waved goodbye.
Meanwhile with Marco, he and the remaining teens were seen having gathered a group together, "I called you all here because you're the most cunning, agile and most hard-hitting wahoos I know. All handpicked for your specific set of skills."
"This is quite a line-up," Anne said.
"Got that right," Marco said, gesturing to his first ally. "Hekapoo is basically a One-Woman Army, and she's also on fire." Hekapoo demonstrated this by cloning herself, and raising the power of her flame.
"Wait, where are those other two guys?" Luz asked.
"They're with Mina...she did not do too well against Meteora," Hekapoo said.
"Ooooh, bummer," Anne said.
"It's fine, because we have Sasha," Marco said, gesturing to the girl in question. "She's no Mina, but she's got amazing sword skills herself, being the First Lieutenant of the Toad Amy."
"Gotta say, slightly disappointed by Mina, she seemed all talk," Sasha said. "But I guess after a few hundred years of fighting, you just lose your touch. Meanwhile I'm younger and hungrier."
"Well next we have Talon," Marco said, gesturing to the bird man as he put sunglasses on, and did another pair for his fox hoodie. "He's really big, and I think Hekapoo has a crush on him. Probably because of his nice body."
"Wait, what?" Talon asked, getting a shrug from Hekapoo.
"Well...that's a bit freaky," Luz said.
"Next there's Jorbie and Kelly," Marco said, the Woolett girl sharpening her sword on her pet's teeth. "Well, Kelly's got a lot of swords."
"Marco, you're not exactly inspiring hope here," Amity said. "Are they really that tough or are these just friends you made and think they can help?"
"Talon does not appreciate your sass, purple hair," Talon said.
"...Did you just speak in the third person?" Amity asked.
"Focus girls..." Marco said. "Besides Amity, you know Kelly's strong, she helped bring down Belos."
"Actually, Hekapoo and I did most of the work," Sasha said.
"Sasha, I like you and all, but we'd rather not have any tension here," Marco said. "Fact is, you're all part of my Marcnificent Twelve."
"Marcnificent?" Sasha asked.
"Also there's only like ten of us here, two short for twelve," Kelly said.
"He forgot about me!" Came the voice of Pony Head.
"What in the world!?" Amity asked.
"I didn't forget about you, Pony Head, you're just late," Marco said. "Also is that an axe on your horn."
"Well yeah, it's my battle axe, I'm basically a cyborg," Pony Head said. "Also, who are these other girls?"
"They're friends from Earth, and one Witch from the Boiling Isles," Marco said.
"You brought more Humans? Some army this is turning out to be," Pony Head said.
"Wow, harsh," Anne said.
"Humans just don't get any respect," Luz said.
"It's fine, it just means more for us to prove," Marcy said.
"Yeah, more for...Talon, what are you doing?" Marco asked.
"Handing out shades for our group victory photo," Talon said.
"Shades? Awesome, toss some here!" Anne said, Talon obliging as the girl placed her shades on. "These shades make me look, Anne-mazing..."
An awkward silence followed the girl's terrible pun, even Marcy and Luz looked a bit embarrassed, while Amity smirked a bit, mostly from Anne's embarrassment rather than finding her comment funny.
"That aside...we're not going a victory photo," Marco said.
"Every group I've run with does a photo!" Talon said, showing off some prior pictures.
"Is that a little league team?" Marco asked.
"Little!? There's nothing little about them!" Talon shouted.
"Yeah there is, they're clearly little kids," Amity said.
"That's strike two, purple hair," Talon said.
"My name's Amity, and strike two for what!?" the young witch asked.
"Can we please stay on the same side here!" Marco said.
"Yeah!" came the voice of Tom as the demon flew in. "Let's try listening to our commander."
"Tom, you made it!" Anne said.
"See! Twelve!" Marco said.
"Yo, Earth Turd, you gonna tell us the plan or what?" Pony Head asked.
"Sure, the plan is simple. We're gonna build...The Doom-Knut," Marco said, Tom using his fire to add a dramatic flair.
"Dork," Sasha commented.
"Ignoring that..." Marco pulled a sword out and began drawing the plan in the dirt. "Jorbie and Kelly, you'll be making a dugout circle. Talon and Pony Head will fill it with wood. Once Meteora steps inside, Tom will set the wood on fire and trap her in a flaming prison."
"Oooh, I get it, Doom Knut sounds like Donut," Pony Head said. "Wow, Earth Turd guys are clever, I am so into this plan."
"Seriously? This plan has holes," Sasha said. "And no, that wasn't a donut pun, that was legit criticism!"
"What's wrong with it? This is a decent way to trap her," Amity said.
"But what about after? Lets say this plan works, what is she meant to be stuck in a ring of fire?" Sasha asked. "What about going for the kill?"
"Well I'd rather we didn't need to kill her, trapping her is enough," Marco said. "Besides, after she's caught in the fire, I figured that Luz can use her ice magic to encase her in a large cube, and Amity can use her abomination to pull her into town where she can be incarcerated in a really strong cell."
"Eh, I still say we kill her," Sasha said.
"Gonna have to agree with Sasha on this, Marco," Hekapoo said. "After what Meteroa did to Queen Moon, we can't take any chances."
"We're not killing her, end of story," Marco said. "Hekapoo, this is a good opportunity for you to get back in Star's good graces, I mean until Moon comes back, she's the Queen now, and if you don't do something to impress her, you're gonna be out of a job."
"Pfft, she'll come to realize that me and my team are way too valuable to dispose of," Hekapoo said.
"Hey if Star does fire you, I wouldn't sweat it, your skills would do well in Amphibia," Sasha said. "Better yet, imagine ruling over The Boiling Isles too."
"I don't think King Andrias has any interest in taking over Belos's throne," Marcy said.
Yeah, guess you're right Marcy," Sasha said. "Oh well, maybe someone else can."
Luz raised her eyebrow in suspicion, "That was...odd."
"Let's stay focused here, now does anyone have any questions about the plan?" Marco asked, leaning on his sword. "Or anything else? Like what I'm holding in my hand."
"You mean your sword?" Marcy asked. "What about it?"
"Great question oh glorious girlfriend of mine," Marco said, getting a blush from Marcy as he raised his sword. "This...is El Choppo."
"El What-Oh?" Sasha asked.
"I got this sword from the mists of the Neverzone," Marco said. "It's pretty awesome, took down a ton of monsters with it too."
"And you gave it that stupid name?" Sasha asked. "You're so immature."
"Hey I was in my early thirties when I got this sword," Marco said.
"And you clearly haven't aged mentally," Sasha said. "Then again, from my experience, time just moves fast in there."
"Sasha, you've been inside the Neverzone?" Anne asked.
"Of course, Hekapoo showed me around, I did plenty of training too," Sasha said. "Years of training in a matter of minutes in fact, I've gotten stronger."
"Do you remember everything?" Marcy asked.
"It's a bit hazy but it's all muscle memory," Sasha said, then brought out her scissors. "We got time, you girls want to try it out?"
"I think we're good right now," Anne said. "I don't think I can handle being in that place too long."
"Same, not by myself at least," Luz said.
"Then train together," Sasha said. "Anne, Marcy, Luz and Amity. You girls need to work on your muscles, especially after getting your asses kicked by Hekapoo a few days ago."
"Sasha, we're about to team up against a monster, try to show a little comradery," Anne said.
"Yeah Sasha, that includes being respectful of Marco's plan," Marcy said.
"Actually...I kind of have to agree with Sasha on something," Kelly said. "This plan might not work out. I mean, how are we even going to get Meteora into what's an obvious trap?"
"We use the best bait of course," Marco said.
"Who? Luz?" Sasha asked, to the teen's annoyance.
"NO!" Marco scolded. "I'm talking about me. Meteora hates me for ruining her school, so I'll use myself as bait to bring Meteora into this trap."
"Wait, Marco, that sounds dangerous, what if she hurts you?" Marcy said.
"That won't happen, we'll keep an eye out for Marco, " Amity said. "In fact, while everyone else is preparing for their part, why don't you and Anne keep a distance and be ready to intercept should something go wrong."
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Marcy said, readying her crossbow. "Let's get to work then."
Before long, everyone had gotten to work on the trap that Marco had planned out, with Kelly and Jorbie digging the hole as everyone else chopped down the trees and placed them in position.
Marco continued looking over his plan with Marcy by his side, the girl adding pointers where she could.
"When Tom sets the fire, remember to account for wind direction, if done right, it could burn her a little to reduce thoughts of escape but still leave her mostly uninjured," Marcy said. "Once she's trapped, Kelly and her pet can make a mad dash for Butterfly Castle and get the necessary restraints needed."
"Hopefully there is some," Marco said. "Though maybe Boiling Isles magic can help too, we can get help from Raine since that's the only witch left that seems to have strong enough magic."
"You know, we might have some time left, I can ask Sasha to send us to Amphibia and have King Andrias ready," Marcy said. "We can even bring his army now."
"If we bring an army, it might spook her, keeping our ally count low gives us the element of surprise," Marco said. "Once we have Meteora trapped, then we can call for King Andrias to help keep her contained. As long as he watches out for her magic."
"He should be fine," Marcy said, then noticed Tom sitting nearby. "All done Tom?"
Marco turned to see that he was chugging down a canteen, "Hey, don't drink it all!"
Tom awkwardly looked to Marco, checking the canteen afterwards, "Eh, sorry, too late."
"Eh...no big deal," Marco said, still somewhat annoyed.
"So, Marcy, how you liking Mewni so far?" Tom asked.
"Well it's a nice Kingdom, and I like the adventure it brings," Marcy said.
"You're one brave girl," Tom said, taking note of the busy Anne, Sasha and Luz. "Gotta say, humans are much more resilient than I've given them credit for. Makes me ashamed for not liking them once."
"Oh, not a human fan?" Marcy asked. "Or rather, you weren't one, once?"
"Totally, I mean, I used to hate Marco, treated him badly too," Tom said. "I did so many terrible things to him in the past too, like I was a complete jerk."
"Well I like to believe in second chances, and it seems like you and Marco are friends now," Marcy said.
"Sure are, gotta know when to put the past behind you," Marco said.
"Yeah, that's important," Marcy said, turning to Anne and Sasha, the latter barking out orders, irritating Luz and Amity. "You think that's something my friends can do one day?"
"If they put the work into it," Marco said.
"I hope so," Marcy said.
"Oh, just to give you a heads up about something," Marco said. "Remember back on Earth, how I said I was disgused as a princess?"
"Yeah, what about it?" Marcy asked.
"Well, to really sell this bait, I need to become what Meteora hates so...you might see a different side to me," Marco admitted.
Marcy could immediately figure out what he means, "Oh...wow. Well, whatever you're planning, I'm all for it. I won't think any differently of you."
"Cool, thanks," Marco said.
Before long, it was time, everyone readied for the coming battle. Kelly and Jorbie had armored up, Tom changed into a battle wardrobe, Talon gave corn soda to the dragon cycles and gave Pony Head her helmet.
"Uh...I cannot see! Can anyone else see!?" Pony Head asked.
Sasha had sharpened up her sword, doing a few test strikes against the air, "Speed and precision, that monster is going down."
"Remember, we're not killing the monster," Amity said. "Stick to Marco's plan."
"Yeah, I got it," Sasha said. "But if the time comes, I'm taking liberties."
Anne placed on her golden armor while Luz placed on a her wool cape, both girls ready for action as well.
"You ready for action, Anne?" Luz asked, holding up her glyph cards.
"You know I am," Anne said, readying her sword and tennis racket.
"Alright, time to march into battle," Sasha said, pointing her sword. "Forward men!"
"Uh, some of us are girls," Kelly said. "Also, you're not the leader, Marco is."
"Is Marco even ready?" Sasha asked.
"Sure am," Marco said, now appearing in a purple dress with a clip-on ponytail as he got on his dragon cycle. "I'll be back soon Marcy."
The young girl couldn't believe what her boyfriend was wearing, while he warned her, seeing it up close was different. "Yeah, I know you will. Good luck."
Marcy shared a kiss with her boyfriend, Marco revving up the cycle afterwards, "It's go time."
Marco rode off, leaving everyone behind for a quick second.
"Wait, who was that?" Talon asked.
"That's Marco," Tom said.
"Wow...Marco was not kidding about that Princess look," Anne said, awkwardly scratching her head. "I mean, props to him for being man enough to wear that but...holy smokes."
"I mean, it's a symbolism thing, right?" Luz said.
"Yeah, and I've dressed masculine in the past," Anne said.
"Same, sort of," Luz said. "I'm not one to judge."
"Me neither," Anne said. "Right Sasha?"
"Hey he pulls it off surprisingly well, I mean, he really looks like a girl," Sasha said. "What do you think, Amity?"
"Uh...Yeah, sure. Totally feminine," Amity turned away, hiding her blush. "Do I actually find him attractive? That's definitely the first time I thought a boy was cute, but only because he looks like a girl."
"I'm just surprised Marcy still kissed him," Hekapoo said.
"What? He's still my boyfriend, it takes a real man to wear a dress," Marcy said.
"...Right, of course," Hekapoo said.
"Look, let's just get into position!" Kelly ordered, everyone moving out.
Meanwhile in her other dimension, Star was still searching for Moon, though the trip was not easy. Even with her buzzer, she found herself getting distracted a lot, same with her team. Willow had wandered off a few times, Gus wasn't sure what was real or fake, and Maddie was too fascinated with some black parts of the water.
"Everyone hanging in there?" Star asked.
"Yeah...I'm fine, how about you Willow?" Gus asked.
"Uh...who's Willow?" the girl said, finding herself unfamiliar with her surrounding.
"You! You're Willow! Willow Park!" Gus said. "And I'm...wait who was I again?"
"Gus, Willow, snap out of it!" Maddie said. "Ugh, the sooner we find that...thing Star's looking for, the better."
"What are we looking for again?" Gus asked.
"Mom, we need to find my mom, she's somewhere..." Star finally spotted her. "There she is!"
In the distance, Queen Moon was bathing herself with the magic water. To the surprise of the other kids, especially Gus, she was completely nude, her hair being the only thing covering up her body.
"Uh...I feel weird now," Gus said.
"Mom!" Star hugged Moon. "I finally found you!"
"Oh, hello," an oblivious Moon said. "Who are you?"
"You are Star Butterfly," came the voice of Star's buzzer.
"I am Star Butterfly?" Moon asked.
"What? No!" Star pulled her pager to show Moon a picture of herself. "You're Queen Moon Butterfly, this is you!" She changed the image, "This is your husband." She changed again. "And this is me, your daughter. We're a family!"
"You are Star Butterfly," the pager said again.
"Dang it!" Star tossed her buzzer away and dragged Moon off. "Come on we're leaving!"
"Where are we going?" Moon asked.
"We're going..." Star then began to forget everything. "I have no idea."
"Star, we need to go back to...go back to.." Gus held his head. "Ugh, I can't remember."
"Neither can I," Maddie said. "Who am I again? And why am I so much smaller?"
Willow looked around, pointing at some floating jellyfish, "Balloons!"
Later, after getting Meteora's attention Marco immediately jumped on his dragon-cycle and drove off, "Let's ride!"
As he tried getting away, Meteora had zapped Nachos, leaving the beast defeated as Marco fell from the sky. Fortunately Kelly and Jorbie weren't too far away and managed to catch Marco, but unfortunately Kelly's comrade also found himself in a bad situation, having been zapped by Meteora as well.
"NO! JORBIE!" Kelly shouted.
Meteora lunged in again, but Marco gave the signal, "Tom! Luz! Go!"
Meteora found herself in the middle of the circle as both Tom and Luz set fire to the wood, leaving Meteora trapped in the middle.
"Looks like you're trapped!" Tom taunted.
"Wow...I think we did it," Marco said. "Everyone, we won!"
Sasha however looked unsatisfied, "That seemed too easy though."
"Not everything needs to be complicated Sash, let's just be happy everything worked out," Anne said.
"No time to waste," Marco said. "Use your scissors to reach King Andrias and-"
Meteora used her tail to immediately do away with the fire, much to the surprise and worry of everyone present.
"Wow...that didn't even take any effort from her!" Sasha said, grabbing her sword. "Screw this, we're doing things my way!"
"Sasha! Be careful!" Marco said.
"This behavior isn't very LADYLIKE!" Meteora tried zapping Sasha, but the young teen rolled out the way and rushed in to strike Meteora's leg, barely scratching it.
"Seriously!?" Sasha grabbed some daggers and started tossing them at Meteora's face.
"Hey careful! Someone can lose an eye like that!" Meteora scolded. Then found herself under this receiving end from Kelly and her swords. "Enough!"
Meteora blasted at both girls, the two leaping out of the way, while Amity rushed in with her abomination magic to grab Meteora by her arms. Luz used her ice magic to blast Meteora in the chest as Anne rushed and slid up to attack with her tennis racket.
"Little brat!" Meteora whacked Anne away, Luz using her planet magic to provide a soft landing for her friend.
"Talon! Launch me!" Pony Head said, the bird man throwing the floating head to Meteora, the attack doing nothing. "She scared yet?"
Meteora effortlessly zapped her, leaving her useless.
"Is it me, or are her tricks kind of hacks?" Sasha said, rushing in to swipe at her legs, finding herself kicked away.
"Dang it Star, where are you!?" Marco asked, unaware that Star was stuck parading around with her mother and her team.
"I'm done waiting around," Meteora said, stomping over and raising her foot. "It's over Turdina!"
Suddenly Meteora got blasted with a storm of fire, courtesy of Luz, "You're not hurting anyone, you monster!"
Sasha jammed her sword into Meteora's leg, hurting the monster as Tom flew in to blast her again.
"Luz! Try binding her with your vines!" Marcy said.
"Yeah, on it!" Luz said, grabbing a stick. "Bigger circle means more magic, the vines should be able to hold her."
Meteora whacked Tom away, same with Sasha and focused back on Luz, "You're next!"
"Take this!" Anne rushed over and jumped on her back, climbing up as Meteora tried to grab her.
"Hey! No fair! Don't climb where I can't reach you!" Meteora whined.
"Not my fault your arms are so stubby," Anne said, leaping higher with her sword and racket. "Now, I just have to-"
"Got you!" Meteora said, grabbing Anne and throwing her against Tom, knocking the demon out of the air.
"Anne!" Marcy went to help but Meteora was ready to attack.
"Marcy, watch out!" Sasha leapt in to push the girl out of the way before either got stomped on. "Whoa, you alright Mar-Mar?"
"Yeah, thanks Sash," Marcy said.
"No problem, I just gotta-" Suddenly Sasha got blasted, the girl now floating away.
"No! Sasha!" Marcy shouted.
"Sasha?" Anne said, too distracted by her friend to notice that she was in Meteora's sights.
"Anne! Watch out!" Luz jumped in front of Anne, taking a blast that was meant for her, the witch girl now floating away as well, much to Anne's worry.
"No..." Anne said.
"LUZ!" Amity became furious, her eyes seemingly glowing red as she glared at Meteora. "You bitch! I'll show you what a true monster looks like!"
Amity's abomination began to grow, her own monster lunging at Meteora. The former princess tried zapping it, but it did nothing, much to her annoyance. "This thing means nothing against me!"
The two beasts struggled, Amity doing her best to overpower Meteroa, but was for nothing as her monster was destroyed, the girl briefly open.
"Amity! Watch out!" Marco ran to pull her away from the eye lasers.
"Ready to fight me now, Turdina?" Meteora said.
"Hey, ugly!" Came the voice of Eda flying in with Hop Pop behind her. "Remember me!"
"You two again?" Meteora asked.
"Thats' right, and we're not alone," Eda said, gesturing to another Palisman with King, Sprig, Ivy and Polly.
"Told you we'd be in on the action!" Sprig said, loading Polly onto a slingshot. "Take this! Little Sister Cannon!"
Polly was flung at Meteora, punching the monster in the eye as she was quickly caught by Kelly. "Booya!"
"Ow! How improper!" Meteora said, then saw King flying around like a fly. "Come here you!"
"Ivy, go for it!" King said.
"Karate kick!" Ivy leapt up and kicked Meteora in the other eye, the monster temporarily blinded.
Eda landed beside the others, immediately taking note of her student's condition, "What happened to Luz!?"
"Same thing that happened to your sister," Amity said.
"It's my fault, she ended up like that trying to protect me," Anne said.
"Don't blame yourself, she protected you because she cares about you," Eda said. "If anything I blame that tall monstrosity. Hopefully we can restore everyone to normal after we beat her."
"Before she got zapped, Luz was working on a spell to bind Meteora with vines," Anne gestured to the ground beside them. "She wanted something big."
"Well I'll finish what she started," Eda said. "The rest of you keep that monster busy."
"No problem," Marco said, leading the charge. "Attack!"
"Lets go Hop Pop!" Sprig said, running in with his friends.
"That boy's crazy, but I gotta do something too," Hop Pop said, running in. "Be careful Eda!"
"Pfft, where's the fun in being careful?" Eda joked. Suddenly she felt a light behind her, "Queen Moon?" She turned to see who it was, and was surprised by the new arrival, "It's yo-"
Suddenly she got knocked aside as the newcomer marched toward the oncoming battle.
"Keep on her!" Marco ordered as everyone attacked, with Talon using his bazooka, Kelly attacking with her sword, Hekapoo using her scissors, Tom blasting with his magic, Amity fighting with her abomination, Anne using her sword and racket, everyone doing what they could to weaken Meteora.
"Enough!" Meteroa whacked everyone back, sending out lasers, one of them hitting Talon, another hitting Hekapoo.
"Take this!" Tom flew in and took a blast himself. Though it did not permanently stop him. "That was weird." He took another, then came back. "Gonna have to do more than-"
Meteroa used her magic to steal as many of his souls as possible, the woman gaining more power.
"Tom! You're making her stronger! Move out the way!" Amity said.
Marco leapt in to kick Meteora in the face, knocking her for a loop. "Ha, graceful as a-"
Meteora then blasted Marco, leaving him floating, much to everyone's worry.
"MARCO!" Marcy shouted, the girl glaring at Meteora as her eyes glowed green. "That's it!" She used her crossbow to latch onto Meteora and pulled herself in to punch the monster in the jaw.
"Whoa..." Amity said, amazed by Marcy's power. "Didn't know she had it in her."
"My turn," Anne said, her eyes briefly glowing blue and jumped in to kick Meteora herself, stumbling the monster.
"Awesome!" Kelly said. "Keep it up and-"
Meteora sent a blast at Kelly, it going right over her head, but taking off a chunk of her hair. "Dang it!"
"Kelly..." Came a voice familiar to her.
"Tad?" Kelly turned to see her ex-boyfriend. "What the? You're still here!? I told you to move out months ago!"
"Uh...who is that?" Polly asked.
"Her ex-boyfriend," Tom said.
"I've had just about enough! I am not letting you stop me from taking back what rightfully belongs to-" Suddenly Meteora found herself latched on with some strange magic.
"Eda!?" Anne excitedly turned around, hoping to find Eda, but found someone else instead. "Huh!? Who are you!?"
Amity turned around as well, her pupils shrinking in shock and surprise, "Emperor Belos!?"
Indeed, the evil emperor of The Boiling Isles had returned alongside Kikimora, Hunter and Ludo.
"Pardon me, I couldn't help but notice your monster problem, so I thought I'd lend a hand," Belos said, latching more magic onto Meteora. "My, that's a lot of power."
"Belos! I don't know what you're planning, but it won't work!" Amity went to attack but Hunter stood in her path, aiming a sword. "Out of the way!"
"Sorry, I can't let you stop my uncle," Hunter warned.
Amity used her magic to attack Hunter, the boy narrowly avoiding it and attacking with magic of his own, knocking her back. Anne tried to attack from behind, but Hunter elbowed her away.
Kikimora used her magic to bind everyone else, "Lets cease this useless fighting."
"Wow, you work fast," Ludo said.
"Ludo! What's going on!?" Tom shouted.
"Don't worry, we're not here for you, we just want Meteora," Ludo said. "Better hurry Belos, I don't see any of the Butterfly Family here, we don't want to be ambushed."
"Do not worry," Belos said, maintaining his hold on Meteora.
"What...what are you..." Meteora glared at the evil Emperor. "Who are-"
Suddenly she seemed to explode in a flurry of magic, all of her stolen power scurrying away and back to the original owners.
Talon, Hekapoo, Pony Head, Jorbie, Nachos, Sasha, Luz and Marco all went back to normal and fell from the air, crashing down.
"Ow..." Marco opened his eyes, "What in the-"
Belos used his Dimensional Scissors to pull in the magic that remained and make his escape, "Until we meet again."
"B-Belos?" Luz said, seeing the Emperor make his leave. "BELOS!" She lunged after him, but it was too late, Belos and his team were gone. "Ugh, great!"
"What just happened?" Kelly asked. "Did he...kill her?"
"I'm not sure," Anne said.
"Then what happened?" came a new voice, that of a distraught looking Eclipsa. "What did he do to my daughter!?"
"Where'd you come from?" Hekapoo asked, trying to stand.
"I want answers, what did Emperor Belos do to my daughter!?" Eclipsa shouted. "Answer me!"
"I...I wish I knew," Marco said.
In another Dimension, Belos was seen walking away from his portal alongside his team, powered up with a new set of leftover Mewman magic from what he did to Meteora. Fortunately for her, she wasn't dead. Rather, she took on a new form, that of a newborn infant.
Belos looked down at the girl, cracking a smile at the innocence on her face, "This is quite the surprise. I didn't expect to destroy you, but I also didn't expect you to be reborn. Perhaps this can be of use to me, having an heir would be nice."
"Huh?" Hunter had overheard Belos, wondering what he meant. "An heir? What's going on?"
"Guess Belos is thinking about the future," Ludo said. "With a Butterfly as part of his new lineage, things are about to get a lot more interesting."
"Yeah, sure," Hunter said, following his uncle to the next part of the big plan.
