Chapter 14: Emotional Strength and Weakness

The threat of the Emperor's Coven had dwindled as of the following day. Belos was still missing, and his Guards have not attacked since. Upon a search from Mewman Guards along with Forces provided by King Andrias, it was even discovered his entire castle had been abandoned.

No Belos, no Kikimora, no Darius, no Eberwolf, no Hunter, and no Ludo. All of them gone, disappeared without a trace. While many in the Mewman army wanted to consider this a win, Queen Moon had her doubts, worried their foes would just pop up again.

"Why is this still even up for debate?" Hekapoo said. "We searched Belos's castle, we searched all of The Boiling Isles. Raine's team confirmed it, that Yunan lady confirmed it. Belos is gone, and there's no indication of him coming back!"

"We can't just assume that the threat is over Hekapoo," Raine said.

"Even if Belos comes back, we have his castle sieged," Hekapoo said. "He has no army! If he shows up on his own, we'll finish him off for good, but he knows he can't win. Sasha and I made sure to let him know that he can't beat us!"

"Got that right," a nearby Sasha boasted. "Hekapoo's gone, his only heir was some bratty kid who knows better than to come after me. I say declare this a win for Mewni."

Also present in the room were Star, Marco, Anne, The Plantars, Luz, The Clawthornes, Marcy, Amity and Tom, each of them awaiting official confirmation of the war's end.

"Hekapoo, I know things are looking in our favor, but our past shows us that letting our guard down is detrimental," Moon said. "It nearly led to Toffee taking over, it nearly led to Ludo taking over. I would feel much more at ease if we knew where exactly Belos went."

"We'll keep searching if you want, but honestly, the war's over, we won," Hekapoo said. "Announce it to the world and give your people a relaxing state of mind."

"Hm...very well, I will declare our victory," Moon said. "River, come with me, we'll have the town rounded up to let them know of our decision."

"Yes my dear," River said, following his wife.

Hekapoo seemed more than satisfied, "And that's how you end a war." She turned to her close ally Sasha, "Great work these last few days, we put Belos away for good!"

"Got that right, no witch is a match for us," Sasha said, fist bumping Hekapoo.

Luz however couldn't shake the feeling something was off, "This seems too easy though."

"You alright Luz?" Anne asked.

"Sort of, it's just...I'm kind of with Queen Moon on this, I don't think this was that obvious of a victory," Luz said. "What do you think Eda? Would Belos go down this easy?"

"Doubt it, but whatever Hekapoo and Sasha did really has him licking his wounds," Eda said. "Hopefully Queen Moon and King River don't get too comfortable."

"Well I'd like to think they know what they're doing, and that they'll exercise caution," Hop Pop said. "I mean, King Andrias is still giving his support, two Kingdoms are better than one."

"Well, if the war really is over, where does this lead Anne?" Sprig asked. "You only agreed to stay until the battle was won. Now that it is, are you going home?"

"Yeah, probably," Anne said. "With the scissors, Sasha can just send me back, same with Marcy."

"Not yet for me, I still need to get the Calamity Box to King Andrias," Marcy said. "He mentioned wanting all of you to be there when he collects the box, probably to thank anyone who helped."

"Does that include me?" Luz asked.

"Well you did show up near the end, a late party member is still a party member," Marcy said.

"I guess we can deliver it to Andrias as a group first," Anne said. "Then I can finally go home."

"I've thought about going home myself," Luz said. "Only for a bit, just so that my mom knows I'm safe. I still want to do my witch training."

"I might head back too," Marco said. "Stick around my home for a bit and see my brother be brought into the world."

"That and you have something to tell your mom about," Anne said, grinning at the boy. "Or should I say...someone?"

"Oh yeah Marco, you're bringing home something extra special home," Luz said, with a snarky look of her own.

Marco began to blush a bit, knowing what the two were talking about, "Yes, I suppose I should tell my mom about me and Marcy."

"Oh right, I heard about that," Tom said, then turned to Marcy. "So, you got with Marco, did you?"

"Yeah...it just kind of happened," Marcy said.

"Good on you, Marco's a great guy, you two are gonna go so great together," Tom said.

"Thanks Tom, I just hope Marco's parents like me enough to be their son's girlfriend," Marcy said.

"My parents are very friendly and supportive of my choices, they'll definitely like you Marcy," Marco said. "Not that it matters, it's still my choice in the end."

"Yeah Marcy, you're a keeper," Anne said. "So, when's the first date?"

"It's gotta be someplace nice and romantic," Luz said.

"I mean, there's the Taco place from before," Marco said.

"Marco, that's not romantic," Luz said. "That's somewhere you take your friends, not a girlfriend."

"I used to take Jackie there all the time," Marco said.

"Isn't Jackie your ex-girlfriend though?" Tom asked, earning a glare from Marco. "What, I'm not trying to be mean or anything."

"Well Luz, where would you want someone to take you on a first date?" Marco asked, this question piquing Amity's curiosity.

"I don't know, probably a daring adventure full of action and peril," Luz said.

"That actually sounds fun," Marcy said.

"...Ok, how about we pretend for a second that we're normal kids on Earth, where would you go then?" Marco asked.

"Maybe a nice stroll down the beach," Luz said.

"Oh, perfect, now to find a beach, which given that we live in LA, shouldn't be too hard," Marco said.

"Or you can take her to Lava Lake Beach," Star suggested, earning a glare from Marco. "What? You liked that place."

"I'm trying to be a normal boyfriend, Star!" Marco said.

"Like there's anything normal about us," Sasha said. "Might as well go nuts Marco."

"I just want to do something nice for Marcy without risking her life, that's all," Marco said.

"I'm with Marco on this, if he wants to take her somewhere normal and safe, he should," Amity said. "If I had a choice to go somewhere, maybe a nice moonlit park, that's my ideal date spot."

"I'd be fine going to like a food court or something," Anne said. "I don't need fancy, just sincerity."

"Same, sometimes the simple pleasures are the most enjoyable," Ivy said. "What about you Polly? where would you want a guy to take you?"

"Well personally, I don't mind too much where, as long as the guy treats me like a Queen," Polly said.

"I just had an idea," Tom said. "To help Marco and Marcy out, they can do a double date with me and Star."

"Huh?" Star asked.

"It'd be perfect, we'd be able to show them the ropes on proper dating," Tom said. "Plus it'd be nice for me and Star to go out together too."

"Wow, that sounds pretty neat," Marco said. "I'm down for it if Marcy is."

"Sure, takes the pressure off a bit," Marcy said.

"Oh, lets make it a triple date!" Ivy said. "Sprig and I could come!"

"Me and you?" Ivy asked.

"Well yeah, who else is better to show Marcy around than one of her friends," Ivy said. "Assuming you count Marcy as a friend."

"I do, and she is Anne's best friend, just like I'm Anne's best friend, so that makes Marcy my best friend by association," Sprig said.

"Don't think it works like that," Tom said.

"Yeah, by that logic, Sasha is my best friend since I'm best friends with Anne," Luz said.

Sasha raised her eyebrow at the witch, "Uh, who made you Anne's best friend? You haven't known her as long as I have, and you can't just throw around the term 'best friend', otherwise it loses meaning."

"Well I like Anne, not often I see another human girl who doesn't think I'm a weirdo," Luz said.

"And Luz is one of the few who can hang with us, Sasha," Anne said. "It's cool if I call her my best friend."

"Yeah, we did agree to be a quartet," Marcy said. "Of course that was before we met Marco, Star, Kelly, Tom, Willow and Gus. Not sure where they fit on the hierarchy."

"There's a hierarchy now?" Tom asked, scratching his head in confusion.

"We're getting off track here," Marco said. "So, since Sprig and Ivy seem fine with it, then this can be a triple date," Marco said.

"Uh...mind if I join in on this?" Amity asked, surprising Luz.

"Amity?" Marco said. "Wait, you want to come on this date?"

"Wait, who are you dating, I don't recall you having a boyfriend," Marcy said.

"Actually, it's not a boy...it's a girl," Amity said. "Though, she needs to say 'yes' first."

"Oh, you swing that way?" Marcy asked. "And you have a girlfriend?"

"I do swing that way, exclusively," Amity said. "And I kind of do, but this would be our first date too."

"Well, whoever this girl happens to be," Marco briefly eyed Luz. "She's a lucky girl, and I'd be more than happy if you came along."

"Thanks Marco," Amity said, feeling a bit flustered. Marco's kindness made this much easier, though now Luz was feeling nervous because her own date was coming soon.

"Man, now I'm kind of jealous," Sasha said. "I'm gonna try to find a date myself, so this can be a five-couple date."

"Make it six-couple," Polly said. "This looks like it's going to be good, and I want to be part of it."

"Who are you going to date though, Polly?" Sprig asked. "You don't know anyone your age."

"Sure I do," Polly turned to the youngest demon of the group. "King, you're my date."

"Excuse me, I'm your what?" King asked.

"You heard right, you're taking me on a date with the rest of these chumps," Polly ordered. "Just remember what I said earlier, I want to be treated like a Queen, and given your name, I fully expect you to follow through on that."

"Wait, don't I get a say in this?" King asked.

"No, you will date me, or feel my wrath," Polly said, glaring intently at the demon. "Your choice."

"Excuse me, but I'm a Demon King, you're a tadpole with no legs," King said. "What makes you think you have any power over me?"

"...Um I suggest everyone clear out the way," Anne said, moving her friends back.

"Yeah, seriously, move," Sprig said, gesturing Ivy and the adults away.

"Now Polly, it's rude to force boys to be your date," Hop Pop said. "If King doesn't want to take you, he shouldn't have to."

"Yes, thank you Hop Pop," King said.

"Of course I don't know why he wouldn't want to take my precious granddaughter on a date, any guy would be lucky for that to happen," Hop Pop said.

King glared at the old frog, "Seriously!?"

"Yeah what gives Hop Pop?" Sprig asked. "You know how long it took me to make a friend close to my age? Now you want to send him to his doom?"

"Hey!" Polly shouted.

"Alright, let me," Eda said, kneeling beside the two. "King...Polly...have a damn good time out there kids, you deserve the happiness."

"What the heck, Eda!?" King shouted.

"What, I thought you liked Polly," Eda said.

"I do, but not that way," King said. "I'm not ready to date."

"Look, it's not hard," Polly said. "Just do everything I say and it will work out just fine."

"That's usually how a guy survives in a relationship," Hop Pop said.

"Pfft, that's an exaggeration, right Tom?" Anne asked.

"Yes, of course...Star doesn't control me whatsoever," Tom nervously said, Star raising her eyebrow at her boyfriend.

"Why are you talking like that!? Like do you actually believe that I'm controlling?" Star asked.

"No way! I don't think you're controlling at all," Tom nervously said, chuckling a bit as Star glared at him.

"Awkward," Anne said. "So, Sasha, who do you have in mind to date?"

"I'll think about it," Sasha said.

"Might not be much to think about, there aren't too many guys," Marco said. "Except Gus, you can ask him."

"Who's Gus?" Sasha asked.

"He's my friend," Luz said, getting Sasha's attention." He's the boy who came from The Boiling Isles."

"...You mean that short one?" Sasha asked.

"I mean, he's a little on the small side I guess, but he is a nice boy," Luz said.

"Eh, not sure about him, he seems like a dork," Sasha said, earning a glare from Luz.

"Well that rules out any of my school friends," Marco said.

"We'll go brainstorm," Anne said. "Hey, maybe this date thing should get back to Gus and Willow, they could go together."

"They don't like each other that way," Luz said.

"Willow's too nervous to date anyway," Amity said.

"Ha, she never stood a chance against me," Marcy boasted, earning confused glances from her friends.

"Wow, you got spunk," Anne said.

"Little mean to Willow though," Luz said.

"I mean, she'll be fine anyway, won't she?" Marco asked.

"Of course, now, we got ourselves a six-way date to prepare for," Star said.

"Where though?" Sasha asked. "We didn't pick a place yet."

"We'll do it here at the castle," Star said. "The guards can accommodate us and we'd get a feast worthy of Royalty."

"I'm down with that," Marcy said.

"Yeah same," Amity said.

"Let's do this," Polly agreed.

"Great, meet at the Royal Dining Room at Dusk!" Star said.

The kids immediately dispersed, preparing for their dates as the adults looked on in curiosity.

"Wow, busy night for those kids," Eda said.

"At least they're all having fun," Hop Pop said.

"Well while they're doing that, I should meet up with Raine, really confirm the end of this whole debacle," Eda said.

"Actually, Eda," Came the voice of Eclipsa. "I have a favor to ask of you. It's about that deal we made, regarding my daughter."

"Oh, any sign of her?" Eda asked.

"Possibly, though I myself am not a hundred percent sure," Eclipsa said. "It's still a chance I must take. I need to know that my daughter's alright.

"Hey that's fine, we'll run this by Queen Moon," Eda said.

"She knows, she is the one who alerted me," Eclipsa said. "My daughter was last sighted at the Pigeon Kingdom."

"Sure let's...wait, Pigeon Kingdom?" Eda asked. "Like the bird?"

"Yes, like the bird," Eclipsa said. "We must go and meet their Royalty."

"...Wow, I mean...I know I come from an Island of witches but...wow," Eda said.

"I can't judge myself," Hop Pop said. "After all, I do come from a land of frogs, toads and newts," Hop Pop said.

"Is anyone else coming?" Eda asked. "Like that crystal guy?"

"I'd rather no one from the Magic High Commission come, given my complications with them," Eclipsa said. "It would just be you, me, Queen Moon and your sister. Also Hopedia if he wishes to come."

"I still got a spring in the old step, after all I went with Anne to refill that Calamity Box," Hop Pop said. "I'm not too old for adventure just yet."

"Yeah, people like us age like wine," Eda said. "I'll go find my sister."

"Very well, we'll depart at once," Eclipsa said.

"Hey wait, how are we going to slip this past that Hekapoo lady?" Hop Pop asked.

"King River and General Grime will keep her and the Commission distracted," Eclipsa said. "Though I do feel like Grime would be more suited for this mission."

"No way, he's the type of guy who's quick to start a fight just to prove he's tough," Hop Pop said. "He might try that with that daughter of yours."

"Good point," Eclipsa said.

"Alright, enough talk, let's march," Eda said.

As they were leaving, Hekapoo pulled two of the Boiling Isles Witches aside, "You two, you're Gus and Willow right?"

"Yeah," Gus confirmed.

"Did you need us?" Willow asked.

"I need you to keep an eye on Eclipsa Butterfly," Hekapoo said. "She's been planning something recently and I want to make sure it isn't shady."

"Wait, you want us to spy for you?" Hekapoo asked.

"Yes, but that's all, if something bad is happening, do not engage, come let me know," Hekapoo said. "You two can fly on those broom things, right?"

"Yeah, our Palismen," Gus said.

"Good, keep a distance," Hekapoo said.

"Hey," Came Maddie's voice. "If you're sending them on a trip, count me in."

"Fine by me, just make sure you let us know if something shady is happening," Hekapoo said. "I'm counting on you three"

"Sure, alright," Willow said. "Gus, Maddie, lets get moving."

The day went by, while Moon, Eclipsa, Eda, Lilith and Hop Pop went to find Meteora, with Gus, Willow and Maddie following. Meanwhile the dates were underway.

The first to arrive at the dining room were the couple of Star and Tom, The two dressed up quite nicely for the occasion.

"This is gonna be so much fun!" Star commented. "Finally, a chance for all of us to be even more acquainted with one another! Through romance!"

"Hey is there gonna be enough food for everyone?" Tom asked.

"Of course, there's only twelve of us, and four of them are tiny, they don't need to eat as much," Star said. "Now go on, take a seat, everyone else should be here soon."

Right before the door leading into the kitchen, Marco and Marcy had stopped, the latter, while dressed nicely, still felt weird about this.

"You doing alright, Marcy?" Marco asked.

"I'm fine, I'm just a bit worried," Marcy said. "I've never been on a date before and if it was just the two of us, at least I'd be nervous alone. But now I'm worried about messing up in front of everyone."

"Hey come on, these are friends we're going with," Marco said. "Two of them are your best friends, you don't need to be so nervous. Besides, I have experience with dates, so you can leave most of the tough stuff to me and I'll get you through it."

"Aw, thanks," Marcy said, kissing Marco on the cheek. "Come on."

The two stepped through, immediately being spotted by Star, "Marco! Marcy! Our brand new couple!"

"You both look great," Tom said.

"Thanks bro," Marco said.

"Yeah thanks," Marcy said. "So...are we the only ones here right now."

"Yeah, but more should be on their way," Star said, gesturing to a pair. "Here come two more now."

Stepping into the room was the couple of Luz and Amity, the two looking formal as well, similar to how they looked at the recent wedding.

"Luz? Wait you're Amity's date?" Star asked.

"Surprise," Luz said. "Yeah, I'm Amity's date."

"How long have you two been a thing?" Marcy asked.

"Well, since the wedding," Luz said. "Maybe a little before that."

"I made a move one night, and well...due to Luz getting stranded in Amphibia, I couldn't really act on it right away," Amity said. "Now that things are calm, I finally worked up the nerve to ask Luz out."

"Wow, I'm a little surprised," Tom said. "Did anyone else know about this?"

"Marco, he's the only one who knew I had a crush on Luz," Amity said.

"So, Luz, you're into girls then?" Star asked.

"Yeah, guys too, I go both ways," Luz confirmed. "No big deal though, right?"

"I have no complaints," Tom said. "Two cute girls, being romantic, kissing under the moonlight."

Luz narrowed her eyes at Tom, "Hey, don't be treating us like something out of a yuri anime. Not unless you're willing to give us a show, and I don't mean with Star."

"Uh...never mind then," Tom said.

Even Marco felt weirded out by that, hoping he didn't get dragged into that mess. "Well, you girls look amazing, and I'm happy to see you two finally giving each other a chance."

"Thanks, I'm happy I made my move. Also it's good to still have these nice clothes," Amity said.

"Same here, it totally ," Luz said, showing off a bit. "You look great too Marcy. You too Star."

"Marco looks great himself," Amity said. "And Tom too, I guess."

"Hey come on, are you gonna hold what I said against me all night?" Tom asked.

"Maybe," Luz said.

"Come on, let's not start this off weird," Marco said. "Luz and Amity are just another couple like me and Marcy, along with Star and Tom."

"Hey I am more than fine seeing Luz and Amity together," Tom said, noticing the glares again. "And not in the way you think!"

"Heh, this is already entertaining," Marcy said.

"Lets lay off Tom, he didn't mean any harm," Luz said.

"I get it, not all boys can be as sophisticated as Marco," Amity said. "And I gotta say, you and Marcy look really cute as a couple."

"Thanks, not my first date, but honestly, fancy is not my usual thing," Marco said, checking out his suit.

"Same here, I know this is a castle but I would rather just wear my normal clothes," Marcy said.

"It's a special occasion though," Star said. "We should look nice."

"At least you all have something," King said, the young demon making his way through the door. "All I have is a bowtie."

"You look fine," Polly said, wearing a fancier bow on her head.

"Aw, you two look so adorable," Star said.

"Hey come on, I don't want to be adorable," King said. "I'm supposed to be a fierce and mighty king."

"But you are fierce and mighty," Luz said. "Fiercely cute and mighty adorable!"

"Come on!" King lamented. "This is not good for my image!"

"Don't worry about her, worry about keeping me happy," Polly said. "I am your date after all."

"Not by my choice," King said, regretting it immediately once Polly glared at him.

"Easy King, girls are a feisty bunch," Tom said.

"Damn right we are," Amity said, flexing her arm. "You're lucky I only go for other girls, I don't think any guy could handle me. Maybe a couple that I know, but still, miniscule amount."

"Uh, now you're making me kind of nervous," Luz said. "Can I handle being your date?"

"I wouldn't have asked you out," Amity said.

"I'm just glad you finally did, now I can stop listening to Luz wondering if she should go for it or not," King said. "I mean, she would go on for nights about it."

"King!" Luz shouted in annoyance.

"Oh, so I've been on your mind a lot then, haven't I?" Amity teased.

"Hey, clearly I have too since you told Marco about your crush," Luz said.

"I'm surprised, if I knew you liked girls, I would have suspected you had a thing for Anne," Polly said, much to Luz's discomfort and Amity's frustration.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Anne might not even like girls that way," Marco said.

"Plus, she's just a friend, that's all Polly," Luz nervously insisted.

"One who's unfortunately missing out on this event," Amity said. "Guess she couldn't find anyone to date her."

"Aw, be nice Amity, Anne's a great girl, and one day she'll find someone," Luz said.

"Yeah, don't ask her though, Hop Pop tried doing that and Anne kicked him off a cliff," Polly said.

"Oof, guess it's a touchy subject for her," Marco said, making a mental note not to repeat Hop Pop's mistake.

"Well that's four couples, where are the rest?" Star wondered.

"Did somebody say..." Sprig slid in wearing his own suit. "Awesome!?"

Everyone curiously glanced at Spring, then a little at each other, not sure what to say.

"Uh...no one said 'awesome'," Star commented.

"Oh...dang, kind of ruined my entrance," Sprig said.

"Ha, you're such a dork Sprig," Ivy said, making her way inside, also dressed well, despite hating it. "But that's what I like about you."

"Yeah, I'm pretty likable," Sprig said. "Kelly said I was cool too."

"This before or after you took Nachos on a joy ride?" Marco asked, earning a sheepish shrug from Sprig.

"To be fair, I did try to stop her," Sprig insisted.

"Sure you did," Marco said. "Anyway that's almost all of us, that just leaves Sasha."

"Did somebody mention me?" Sasha asked, peeking her head through a door.

"Wow, great timing," Marco said.

Sprig folded his arms in annoyance, "Anyone could make a perfectly timed entrance with just their name. No style in that."

"Stop worrying about it so much," Ivy said, playfully punching his arm before turning to the teen. "Hey Sasha, got your date?"

"Sure do, here she is," Sasha said, opening the door wider to reveal Anne. She was wearing a similar dress to the wedding, but this time with some added make-up, including blush, eye shadow and lipstick.

Luz looked in awe for a second, before getting elbowed by a jealous Amity, "Hey, I'm your date tonight."

"Sorry, you are it's just...I didn't expect to see Anne," Luz said.

"Anne, you're Sasha's date?" Marco asked.

"She talked me into it," Anne said, rubbing her face. "Then she made me wear this cruddy make up."

"You look fine," Sasha said, then glanced at Luz and Amity. "Anyway, looks like I'm not the only girl who brought another girl as a date."

"Oh Luz, you're Amity's date?" Anne asked. "Or is this just a pity thing like me and Sasha?"

"It's not...pity..." an unhappy Amity said. "Luz is my girlfriend."

"It's true, we had a crush on each other for a good while now," Luz said. "We hooked last night and today is our first official date."

"Well, good for you then," Anne said. "I'm here because Sasha wanted to be part of this, so she asked me to come along."

"She's partially right, but I wouldn't just bring anyone along," Sasha said. "You're a special girl Anne, that's why I wanted you yo look nice. I want to put all our past drama behind us, and what better way than to wine and dine you."

"Well not wine, we're all underage for that stuff," Marco said.

"Oh you know what I mean," Sasha said.

"Uh, if I may say something," Luz began. "I'm all for Anne doing this if she wants to, but Sasha, I hope you don't plan on making Anne do something she doesn't want to do tonight."

"Don't worry Luz, it's not a real date, despite Sasha making me wear this...ugh," Anne wiped the lipstick off. "I hate this stuff!"

"Hey you were planning on wearing make-up at the battle of the bands," Sasha said.

"Yeah, just some sparkles, not everything else," Anne said. "At the very least, I am not wearing lipstick, it looks so ridiculous."

"Alright fine," Sasha said. "Look, we're here so lets make the most of it. So what's for dinner?"

"A combination of dishes hailing from Earth, Mewni, The Boiling Isles and even Amphibia," Star said.

"Ugh, is that garbage from Amphibia?" Amity asked, gesturing to some bugs.

"That's not garbage, it's actually highly edible," Sprig said, grabbing it and shoving it in his mouth, grossing out Amity, King and Marco. Even Tom and Star seemed a bit uneasy but weren't too oblivious to this type of culinary experience.

"Hey save some for me, Sprig," Ivy said.

"Ahem," Star got their attention. "Lets try to be civil here. Grab your plates, grab your food, take your seats, and then eat."

"I call first dibs on the steak," Sasha said. "Gotta be strong after all."

"What's with all the corn?" Luz asked.

"It's very popular in Mewni," Amity said.

"Sweet, some burritos," Anne said.

"King, be a dear and grab that grub," Polly said.

"Uh, which one?" King asked. "Pasta? Jello?"

"No dear, the literal grub," Polly said.

"Oh right, makes sense," King said, grabbing the food for his girlfriend. "Hope you found my favorite dish."

"That apple looks weird," Sprig said.

"It's from the Boiling Isles," Luz said. "You should try it, it's not bad."

"I'm down for it," Anne said.

"You should try Amphibia's food Marco, it really is good," Marcy said. "The bugs add to the flavors."

"The nachos in Amphibia aren't too bad," Anne said.

"Uh, I'll give it a shot then," Marco said, grabbing some of the food.

Once everyone was satisfied, they began their meals, trying out foods different and familiar.

"Wow, this corn is great," Amity said, taking a few more bites. "I can see why Mewmans like it."

"And this apple isn't too bad either," Sprig said, taking a few bites.

"Mine has a worm in it," Ivy said. "Awesome!"

"And I really like these nachos," Marco said. "Almost as good as the ones at Britta's."

"You should try ordering at Stumpy's sometime," Polly said.

"Oh, maybe one day you can try the food my parents make," Anne said. "They did open a restaurant, pretty popular too. Hope you like Thai food."

"I'm all for trying anything new, as long as it's edible for humans," Marco said.

"So...how is everyone enjoying their date so far?" Star asked.

"Well, it doesn't feel too much like a date, more like a group gathering," Ivy said. "Which is fine, I do like you all in different ways."

"Yeah, this makes it feel so much easier," Marcy said. "Really takes the pressure off."

"You had nothing to worry about Marcy," Marco said. "Just being yourself is enough, it's one of the reasons I like you."

"Interesting, what do you like about Marcy if I may ask? Star asked.

"Well, she's fun to hang out with, she's really smart and she has a lot of energy but channels it well," Marco said.

"Just get to know her a bit more, she's quite a wild card," Sasha said.

"I'm used to it from Star," Marco said.

"Hey!" Star shouted in mild offense. "I'm not that wild." Tom's snickering did not help her claim, though her glare did shut him up."

"Also, she's very pretty," Marco said. "Looks are subjective but a nice bonus on a girl."

"Aw, you're sweet," Marcy said, kissing Marco on the cheek. "I think you're very handsome. You're a strong, reliable boy too."

"Wow, talk about mushy," Ivy teased. "But I respect that, takes a real girl to talk about her feelings."

"Aren't most girls like that?" Marco asked.

"You'd be amazed how shy some girls get when it really came down to it," Ivy said. "We put on a front but we can be hard to get emotions out of as well."

"Not me, I always say what's on my mind," Polly said. "King here has nothing to worry about."

"Say Polly, why exactly did you ask out King?" Marco asked. "I mean, I know you wanted to be part of this but why King?"

"I mean, who else would I have asked out? Maddie?" Polly said. "Sorry, but I fly straight when it comes romance."

"Surprised you were clever enough to make that joke," Sprig said.

"Put a sock in it," Polly said. "Also, even if I did like girls, no way I would date Sprig's ex-fiancé. If she was crazy enough to think he was cool, then she would not by my type."

"Wow, harsh much?" Sprig said.

"Anyway Marco, to fully answer your question, I didn't just pick King because he's the only boy close to my age," Polly said. "I picked King because...well, honestly, I think he's swell."

"Oh wow, really?" King asked.

"Yeah...you're cool in my book, and I want to get to know one of the only guys crazy enough to be friends with my brother," Polly said.

"So, you're cool with dating one of my friends, but not a former girlfriend," Sprig said.

"Well yeah, you never made out with King," Polly said.

"I never made out with Maddie either!" Sprig said. "I'm ten, I don't make out with people, I'm way too young for that."

"Yeah ten, but you'll be eleven soon," Polly said.

"Still too young," Sprig said.

"Eh, you can never be too young for stuff like that," Sasha said. "I mean, if you can go out and fight mortal battles, then kissing, making out and...other stuff...should be normal."

"What other stuff?" Polly asked.

"Whoa-hoo-kay...let's move on another topic, shall we?" Anne nervously insisted, all the older kids awkwardly agreeing. "So, Luz, tell me. Is Eda seeing anyone?"

"Well, she gets awkward when talking about Raine but...I don't' think the two of them are dating," Luz said. "If I ask her, she might deny it. If I ask Raine, I still may not get any results."

"Sucks for Hop Pop, I think he actually likes her," Polly said. "Imagine having to call Eda my grandma though."

"Actually that'd be cool, she's an awesome lady and doesn't take crap from anyone," Sprig said.

"Eda is a very prideful woman, but for good reason," Amity said. "She was at one point the strongest witch on the Boiling Isles. Shame that curse got in the way."

"Curse? Wait, she got cursed?" Sprig asked.

"It's a really long story, but let's just say there's a reason people call her The Owl Lady," Luz said.

"Isn't it because she lives in a house with that strange owl?" Polly asked.

"Did someone call for me?" Came Hooty's voice, the demon stretching in. "Hello!"

"Again with the name signal thing," Sprig mumbled.

"Hotty, what are you doing here?" Luz asked.

"I saw that you were all together, so I thought I could join too," Hooty said.

"We're on a date," Luz said.

"Huh? You're dating everyone here? You must have been really lonely," Hooty said.

"...No, I mean that we're all on a date with one person," Luz said. "It's a six-couple date. A Hexagonal Date, or something like that."

"You have a date, Luz?" Hooty asked.

"Yeah, with Amity," Luz said, the witch girl waving.

"Oh great! That's perfect, too bad about my plan but I can make use of it still," Hooty said.

"Wait, what plan?" Luz asked.

"Oh, King, you're dating someone too?" Hooty asked.

"Yeah, I'm with Polly," King said.

"Sup..." Polly greeted.

"Wow...poor guy, you could do so much better," Hooty said.

Polly slowly turned her attention to the witch couple, "Luz, tell Eda she's going to be needing a new owl soon."

"Whoa, let's not get carried away here," Luz worriedly stated. "Hooty just says things without thinking."

"All the time," Hooty said.

"Well, anyway Hooty, now that you know what we're doing, maybe you should head back, this is a couples' dinner after all," Luz said.

"Ooooh...wait, so everyone here has a date except me?" Hooty asked.

"Yes, seems like it! Now can you take a hike?" Sasha asked. "We're still trying to enjoy each other's company!"

"Sasha, don't be mean to Hooty," Luz said.

"Also, Hooty, do you even have a girlfriend?" Star asked.

"No, but I can get one, I'm quite the stud," Hooty insisted. "Maye I can get Lulu to join me."

"Uh, she's not here, she went with Eda and Queen Moon on a mission," Luz said.

"Oh, right..." Hooty said. "Well there's that Hekapoo chick."

"She is WAY beyond your league," Sasha said. "Also she's busy too."

"Oh, bummer..." Hooty thought again. "Well-"

"How about I save you some time, even if you found a date, you're not exactly invited, this is only meant for six couples," Sasha said. "Now, we'd like to get back to dating, and gossiping, preferably on this Eda lady."

"Wow you're rude, who's the dimwit who took you on a date?" Hooty asked.

"Hey, she took me!" Anne said. "Also I'm not a dimwit!"

"King, can you please get your friend to leave," Polly said. "It's ruining our evening."

"Hooty doesn't mean harm, he's just a curious guy, but alright," King cleared his throat. "Hooty, you can join us next time, right now we'd still like to hang out with each other a bit."

"If you'd like, I know a Pony Head who you might get along really well with," Star said, to Tom's confusion.

"Pony Head wouldn't like him," Tom whispered.

"Be quiet, I'm trying to get him to leave peacefully," Star whispered back.

"Is this Pony Head cute?" Hooty asked.

"Oh yeah, very cute," Star said. "And full of spunk if that's your type."

"I love spunky girls," Hooty said. "Guess me and Luz have that in common."

"King too," Sprig said.

"Yeah, she's spunky, but not as pretty," Hooty said.

"Alright, that's it!" Polly leapt to attack Hooty, freaking everyone out at the dinner.

"AH! GET THIS CRAZY FROG OFF ME!" Hooty shouted in despair as Luz, Sprig, King, Anne, Star and Tom leapt to help while Ivy cheered Polly on. Amity and Sasha just sat back and enjoyed the show, Amity out of empathy for Polly and Sasha out of pure entertainment.

Marco wanted to do something, but Marcy quietly pulled him away, leading the two out of the dining room while everyone worked to save Hooty for Polly.

"I don't think wre should leave them in there," Marco said as he got pulled toward a balcony.

"It's fine, Polly's strong but I don't think even she could hurt Hooty," Marcy said. "Anyway, I pulled you here because I wanted to be with you in private."

"Oh, is there something you-" Marcy then pulled Marco into a kiss, taking him by surprise. Marcy held the kiss for a good few seconds before pulling away. "Oh, wow."

"Just wanted to do that, preferably in private," Marcy said. "Ivy wasn't far off when she said girls can be a little shy about their emotions and I just wanted to give you something for only you to enjoy."

"It's very much appreciated," Marco said.

"You know, if you do want to take me to that Taco Place again, that's fine," Marcy said. "I don't care where we date, I just want to spend time with you. I want to get to know you more. I mean, earlier on, you said such nice things about me, despite what you know."

"I do think you're a nice girl, I don't agree with you tricking your friends, but I trust that you're going to make things right," Marco said.

"I am...I'll tell them everything later on," Marcy said. "I just hope they'll be understanding."

"Hey, I'll be right there with you," Marco said, gently stroking Marcy's face. "I promise you that I will be someone for you to hug for joy, or to help dry your tears."

"I just hope it's the former," Marcy said "I don't want to lose my friends."

"Marcy, as your boyfriend, I am going to be very honest with you," Marco said. "They're probably going to be mad. They might not forgive you right away. You're going to be sad and you're going to be heartbroken. This may put a strain on your friendship."

"Geez, I appreciate that you want to be honest with me, but this is intense," Marcy said.

"However...I believe they're going to forgive you, because I can tell they care about you," Marco said. "Am I going off from what I've known from them these past few days, maybe. But I can tell Anne cares about you a lot, I can tell that Sasha, arrogant as she can be, has a soft spot for you. You're going to be knocked down before you're built back up again, and I will be there to help you with that."

Marcy began chuckling to herself, "I just...really love your confidence. You're a strong man who's ready to stand by his friends, and his girlfriend, but you have that sensitivity to you. I mean, you got Amity to tell you that she has a crush on Luz, something she seemed reluctant to tell anyone else. I really lucked out getting a guy like you, Marco Diaz."

"We'll see how long that lasts," Marco said. "I mean, like I said, I've dated before. I thought I'd be happy with my old girlfriend Jackie forever, but I messed that up."

"You two probably weren't romantically compatible, I mean, why did you like this girl?" Marcy asked.

"Well, she's pretty for one, and she rides a skateboard which I think is kind of cool," Marco said. "Though I've always been too nervous to talk to her. It took one of Star's weird spells to get me to finally be honest with her."

"Well are there any notable differences between us?" Marcy asked.

"Well, you're more...um, well she's a jock and you're...not a jock," Marco said.

"I'm nerdy, you can say it, I take it as a compliment," Marcy said.

"You're so cool like that," Marco said. "Also, I guess, compared to Jackie, I feel like she picks me up but with you, I like helping pick you up. Not to say that you're helpless but you make me feel more...masculine. Jackie doesn't emasculate me but she's much more independent. Thing is, my dad, he's basically a wall for my mom to lean on and I want to do that for a girl, I want to feel like a useful part of the relationship."

"So basically, you just want to prove your masculinity, be the ideal man," Marcy said. "I get that."

"I hope this doesn't sound weird, I know you can be independent too and I don't want you to feel useless or anything," Marco said.

"It's fine, I know what you mean," Marcy said. "I'm not gonna be one of those girls who misunderstand the situation and slap you or anything. But wow, seems like you have worries of your own."

"Guess we both have issues," Marco said.

"Well, that's fine, because I want to be there for you too," Marcy said. "That's what makes us work, we're there for each other, we're each other's emotional strength. I want us to work, because I really feel something special for you and I don't want to let go. I don't know why Jackie let you go, but it's her loss and my gain."

"I'll do my best to be the best boyfriend you could ask for," Marco said.

"Same here," Marcy said, bringing Marco in for another kiss. "Anyway, lets go check on the others."

"Good idea," Marco said.

The two made their way back into the dining room, with Luz and Anne checking on Hooty, Star and Tom cleaning up and Polly looking distraught nearby while King comforted her.

"You don't think I'm ugly? Do you?" Polly asked.

"No way, you're adorable Polly," King said.

"You mean it?" Polly asked.

"Yeah, you're a cute little frog girl," King said.

Polly wiped her eye, looking up at King with a tint of a blush on her face, "Thanks, you're really nice King, I really appreciate that."

King turned away, feeling a bit awkward too, "It's no big deal."

"Aw, that's cute," Marcy said. "I think Polly and King look cute together, would you agree?"

"Yeah, I think they get along nicely," Marco said, placing his arm around his girlfriend. "A good man helps a woman feel great about herself."

"And a good woman is loyal to her man," Marcy said, placing her arm around her boyfriend.

Around this time, Moon, Eclipsa, Eda, Lilith and Hop Pop had found Meteora.

"Holy smokes that's a big woman," Eda said. "Guess those Pigeon people were right about her being around."

"Well, we found her, what do we do?" Hop Pop asked.

"I am going to talk to her, see if I can reason with my daughter," Eclipsa said.

"Wait, Eclipsa, are you sure that's a good idea?" Moon asked. "You might get hurt."

"I have to try something Moon," Eclipsa said. "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine."

Eclipsa emerged from the hiding place to approach Meteora, something Eda was concerned about.

"Look, I get that she's worried about her daughter and all, but that Meteora woman looks completely dangerous," Eda said.

"Come on Edalyn, it might be a misunderstanding, I mean you should be able to relate, you've become a monster yourself," Lilith said.

"Only because you cursed me," Eda said.

"I said I was sorry," Lilith said.

"Wait, she cursed you?" Hop Pop asked.

"Long story, but the difference with me is that I couldn't control myself and once I gained control, I sure as hell didn't go around causing destruction," Eda said. "Damn sure didn't steal the life force of anyone else either."

"Have faith in Eclipsa," Lilith said. "She's the best chance we have at a peaceful solution."

"I really hope you're right, Lil," Eda said. "Who knows, maybe a mother's love is all that monster need."

"Hello there," Eclipsa said, making her way toward the monster, nearly getting zapped by her eye lasers. "Wait, before you kill me! I have something for you!"

Eclipsa held up a stuffed animal, Meteora's eyes widened in surprise, spotting something very familiar. "Bobo!" She picked the now startled woman up. "Is it really Bobo?"

"Yes, it's Bobo!" A now nervous Eclipsa said.

"Bobo?" Eda asked, then turned to Moon. "What in the world is a Bobo?"

"Don't ask me, I'm just as confused," Moon said.

"But, mama made Bobo," Meteora said. "Are you mama?"

"I think I prefer to be called 'mother," Eclipsa said. Upon seeing Meteora's eye lasers being readied, she backed up on that notion. "Or Mama, mama works too. What shall I call you?"

Now calm, Meteora began rocking her mother, "Baby Smooth."

"What the f-" Eda was elbowed by Lilith.

"Don't blow our cover," her sister warned.

"At least she's calm," Hop Pop said.

"Where have you been mama?" Meteora asked. "Why did you leave me all alone?"

"Well some terrible people locked me away in an old crystal deep in the dungeon," Eclipsa explained. "They're a rather maladjusted people, especially their old queen."

"Does she mean me!?" Moon asked.

"No, she said old queen, so she probably meant your mother," Eda said.

"That isn't exactly better," Moon scolded.

"Quiet now, they're still talking," Lilith said.

"Now that we're together again, we can have everything that we missed out on," Eclipsa said.

"Like what?" Meteora asked.

"Well, how about ponies? Or bedtime past eight?" Eclipsa suggested.

"She knows that's an adult, right?" Eda pointed out.

"Oh, how about ice cream for breakfast!" Eclipsa said.

"Ugh, I hate ice cream," Meteora said.

"How could anyone hate ice cream? It's delicious," Lilith said. "Great snack, especially when you're depressed about how badly your life turned around."

"Gee, sorry I let you live in my house for free, that must really suck," Eda said, to Lilith's annoyance.

"What do you want then dear?" Eclipsa asked. "Name it, I'll do my best to get it for you."

"I want...The throne of Mewni," Meteora said.

"She wants what?" Moon asked.

"She said 'The Throne of Mewni," Eda said, earning a glare from Moon. "Ooooh, you were being rhetorical, never mind."

"That's not possible," Eclipsa said.

Meteora looked furious, the monster of a woman placing her mother down, "You told me I can have what I want, that you'd do your best to get it for me."

"But the throne is not mine to give," Eclipsa said.

"It's ours by birthright!" Meteora shouted, her eyes glowing yellow.

"Things are about to get bad Moon," Eda said. "If you have a way to take her down, I suggest you do it now while we still have the element of surprise."

"We can't, not yet," Moon said.

"Moon, that woman is clearly after your throne, sounds like she even did a lot to maintain that eternal youth of hers," Eda frantically warned. "You have to stop her before she destroys your Kingdom!"

"I...I suppose so..." Moon said.

"You don't need Mewni, Meteora!" Eclipsa said. "I'm sorry, but this is one thing I cannot and will not give you."

"Fine...I'll just take it for myself!" Meteora shouted, stomping off towards Mewni.

"Young Lady, you get back here this instant!" Eclipsa scolded.

"Hey! Big, purple and ugly!" Eda shouted, grabbing a glyph card and sending fire at the monster, which she immediately blocked with her arm, abliet painfully and sent an eye laser, Moon quick to pull Eda out of the way.

"Queen Moon!" Meteora shouted in anger. "Mama, did you set me up!?"

"Not quite," Hop Pop said, stepping out from behind the rock. "She came to plead to you, but clearly you weren't listening to reason."

"Meteora!" Lilith said, stepping out as well. "I know you're angry, but taking over Mewni is not the right thing to do. You still have a chance to make amends with all the things that's happened thus far in your life!"

"Who are these people?" Meteora asked. "A frog man and a witch? Did you bring them to trap me mama!?"

"No dear, I swear it, I just wanted my daughter back!" Eclipsa pleaded.

"Meteora, this must end!" Moon said. Meteora tried eye lasering her, to which Queen Moon activated her Mewberty Form, blocking the attack and surprising everyone.

"Whoa, didn't know you could do that," Eda said.

"That's enough, I do not want to have to hurt you Meteora," Moon warned.

"Wow, that's ironic," Meteora said. "Because I really want to hurt you!"

"Not happening!" Eda shouted, using vine glyph to wrap Meteora while Lilith used her fire to blast Meteora from behind.

"Wait, be careful, please!" Eclipsa pleaded.

Moon flew in and blasted Meteora, allowing Eda and Lilith the chance to use a dual ice glyph to freeze her in place.

However the monster of a woman broke free from her ice and lasered all three opposing women, knocking them to the ground.

"Hey, see here ma'am!" Hop Pop said, then found himself being grabbed and lifted by Meteora. "You know in hindsight, maybe it was a bad idea that I came."

Moon flew in to attack again but Meteora grabbed a nearby tree and whacked the Queen to the ground and then tossed Hop Pop aside, the frog being caught by the Clawthorne sisters as Meteora stood over Moon.

"This ends now!" Meteora zapped her eye lasers down at Moon, the Queen trying to block with her magical barrier.

"Someone stop her!" Hop Pop said. Before eithe witch sister could react, Eclipsa rushed over to Meteora's side.

"Daughter, I love you!" Eclipsa said, Meteora stopping her eye lasers as tears ran down the face of Eclipsa. "I know it's been too long since you heard those words, that's why I am saying them to you now. Please my child, come back to me. Come back to mama."

"I...I..." Meteora looked momentarily confused, something Moon took advantage of when she used her magic to hurl a boulder at Meteora's head, stunning her while Eda and Lilith attacked with fire.

"Moon! Girls! Stop!" Eclipsa shouted.

"Stay back Eclipsa!" Hop Pop warned. "You'll get caught in the crossfire!"

Meteora lifted a chunk of the ground and flung it, knocking the Clawthone sisters apart, but Moon flung more boulders at Meteora, then charged up her magic for one final attack. "I'm ending this!"

"NO!" Eclipsa pleaded.

Just as Moon unleashed her attack on Meteora, Eclipsa rushed in to block Moon's attack, redirecting her arms away. Meteora used this opportunity to zap Moon again, Eclipsa losing her grip and falling.

"Eclipsa!" Lilith shouted as she ran to the former Queen.

"Moon!" Eda called to the current Queen. Moon turned to face everyone, revealing one of her eyes to be black and her other eye having a yellow star in it.

"What in the world!?" Hop Pop said.

In her panic, Moon opened a dimensional portal and quickly flew away, Lilith calling to her. "Moon, come back!"

Eda glared at Meteora, "That's it, I'm taking you down!" She rushed in to use her magic again but Meteora flung a boulder at her, Eda narrowly dodging out of the way, preparing her eye lasers.

"Sister! Watch out!" Lilith quickly jumped in front of Moon, taking the blast of the eye lasers, the force knocking her and Eda back.

"Lilith!" Eclipsa ran to check on her friend as Meteora stomped away, bigger plans on the monster woman's mind. Eclipsa wanted to follow but did not want to leave Lilith behind.

Eda slowly sat up, Hop Pop assisting the woman to her feet, "Upsie Daisy."

Back on her feet, Eda felt nothing but pure annoyance towards Eclipsa, "YOU!"

"Huh?" Eclipsa found herself being grabbed by her shirt by a now furious Eda.

"Are you nuts! Your stupid stunt could have gotten us all killed!" Eda shouted.

"Eda, let her go!" Hop Pop scolded, Eda reluctantly obliging. "Look, lets try not to lose our cool here."

"You saw what she did? Because of her not only did Meteora get away, but now Moon's gone!" Eda shouted.

"I didn't mean any harm, I just wanted to protect my daughter," Eclipsa said.

"Your same daughter who enslaved other princesses, steals life force to stay young and wants to take over the freaking Kingdom!?" Eda shouted. "I'm sorry about your family trouble but now an entire Kingdom is in danger! Their Queen's gone and all that's left is a monster who's ready to storm the castle and...oh shit! Luz!"

"Anne!" Hop Pop equally worried. "We gotta warn them!"

"Lilith, can you move?" Eda asked, shaking her face down sister. "Hey Lil, come on, that attack wouldn't be enough to do you in. Lilith?"

She turned her sister to face up and to her horror, Lilith's eyes were completely black, Eclipsa covering her mouth in worry, "Oh my."

"No...NO!" Eda shook her sister. "Lil, you gotta snap out of it! Lilith!"

"Is she..." Hop Pop gulped in worry. "Gone?"

"No, she can't be, she's just hurt, some weird magic spell that can be undone can't it?" Eda said, frantically shaking her sister. "It's gotta be undone!"

"Eda...I'm so sorry," Eclipsa said. "There might be a way to help her, but-"

"Back the hell away us!" Eda warned.

"Eda, she says there's a way to help!" Hop Pop said.

"After everything that's happened today, I wouldn't trust her at all!" Eda said, a comment that was dreadful for Meteora to hear. "Lets go, we'll get to the castle and hopefully Star or the Magic High Commission know how to get Lilith back to normal."

Eda grabbed her Palisman, placed her sister on the end with Hop Pop right beside her to help keep her secured and flew off, leaving Eclipsa behind.

"What have I done?" the woman wondered.

"Eclipsa!" Came the voice of Gus, the boy flying in with Willow and Maddie. "What happened?"

"We have trouble, Mewni's in danger," Eclipsa said, looking to the distance. "Meteora is on her way!"
