Mr. & Mrs. Saison-Monsour: The Mafia & The Slayer Married Life

Chapter 27: Pt.4: 26: Finally Gave Up

The atmosphere in the seminar room has felt tense ever since the meeting began. Gregory Sterling indeed showcased his ideal resort for their family business. But what annoyed Vincencio was his side comments about his past relationship with Skylar that he kept bringing up as an example.

"Do you have any examples aside from your past failed relationship?" with an obvious annoyance, Vincencio bluntly asked him.

"I don't see anything wrong with using it as an example since it became memorable, and that's one of the ideas I came up with for the resort. It'll give our customers something to remember, such as when they propose to their partners, celebrate anniversaries, or simply, make new memories." Grinning, Gregory explained how sensible it was if it was only for business but the couple sensed it—fishy when he mentioned the last three words—'make new memories'.

"It's a nice idea, but it will depend on the customers' desire. So, aside from that, what else could your resort offer?" With an understanding nod, Skylar wondered.

"I came up with a few freebies, from relaxation to fun activities and food access." Gregory handed them a sample of simple flyers, posters, and creative brochures, making Vincencio meticulously study them.

"Aren't you worried that your resort could suffer from resource and profit loss if you go with these freebies?" Skylar coldly asked as she checked the samples.

"It's a selected freebie. The relaxation freebies were mostly for newly wedded couples, and the fun activities could only be obtained with a family gathering, friend bonding, or company outing. Food access will be determined by the package deal they reserved with our resort, and clients will have a limited time to access it. Then the rest will be payable." Gregory confidently outlined the operations of the freebies before smirking at Vincencio as if he had won.

"Putting them in a package deal isn't a bad idea, but you have to limit how many packs could accommodate those package deals you're offering." Skylar coldly suggested, making him feel like she was ready to agree to partner with him. "Anything else to add, Mr. Sterling?"

"Nothing for now, but since we're here, it's about a personal matter." Like a winning smile, Gregory responded, forgetting Vincencio's presence in the meeting room.

"Let's hear it since my husband is still checking something." Skylar sighed and let him speak about personal matters.

"Good, I mean, about personal matters…" Gregory rose from his seat and kneeled before Skylar, holding her hands. "…are you sure you don't recognize me, or are you just pretending not to know me because of the mistake I made behind your back?"

"I surely don't know you." Skylar wanted to throw up but still pretended not to know him.

"Skylar, when you left, I've been looking for you. I even went to your camp, but I found out that you were sent to the field. It crushed me. I prayed that you'll come back and still be with me." Gregory was pouring out his guilt and kissed her knuckles before continuing. "…I tried to focus on my work, but I'm worried since you're facing death even closer than before. I hate that I could not protect you. I hate that I could not be that man because you're a soldier. My manly pride ate me, and I hated it. I lost you."

"I'm not sure why you're telling me this, but release it if you want." Her kind heart listens, but her anger still burns in her throat.

"Skylar, if you can't remember our past, can we create a new one and be with me?" Gregory hopefully asked, and before Skylar could speak, Vincencio snapped.

"That's too much, don't you think, Mr. Sterling?" As a protective husband, Vincencio growled and firmly reminded him. "She's my wife, and she won't be yours."

"I'm not asking her to be mine. I'm asking her as a friend." Grinning, Gregory teased him more.

"You choose the wrong words, and when you look at her, it's like she's your lost love. And I'm not tolerating anyone getting what's already mine." With gritted teeth, he furiously refuted.

"Aren't you being too possessive? She's going to leave you because you can't trust her." Gregory taunted, but he made a wrong move.

Vincencio stood furiously and pulled him away from his wife. He grabbed his collar and slammed him against the wall, madly.

"I do trust her, but I don't trust you." Furious, Vincencio spat with venom. "I think, giving you a chance to speak about business or personal matters is wrong. I want you out."

"Hubby, calm down." Amused, Skylar went calmly to her husband's side, trying to calm the beast.

"HOW CAN I CALM DOWN WHEN SOMEONE DARED TO STEAL YOU IN FRONT OF ME?!" He shouted while flame burned in his eyes, making Skylar pull him away from Gregory.

"No one is stealing me from you." With sincerity, Skylar cupped his face and sternly looked at his eyes.

"You're making it hard to believe because you're letting him in." Trying to control his anger, Vincencio spat.

"I am not," she softly insisted while their gaze fixated on each other. "Damn, my hubby is so freaking hot."

"Bullshit! If this man gets in between us, I promise you, I'll bring nightmares, Wifey. I'll rip him apart so that nobody can remember his existence." With so much control, Vincencio ran his hand over his hair before glaring at him and left with a warning. "This meeting is adjourned, and be warned, one more advance, Mr. Sterling, and I'll open the gate of death before you."

"HUBBY!" Skylar shouted when Vincencio slammed the door, leaving them alone in the seminar room.

"Woah, that's quite a scene." Gregory tried to calm the mood, but it got worse.

Skylar might be professional, but since Gregory making it too personal and trying to sabotage their marriage, she forgot where they were. She snapped, worried Vincencio would leave her because of him.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU BASTARD!" Skylar gave him four hurtful slaps across his face while shouting her madness. "I'VE BEEN CONSIDERATE OF HELPING YOUR BUSINESS TO FLOURISH, BUT IF WORKING WITH YOU WILL COST ME MY MARRIAGE, I WON'T HESITATE TO DROP EVERYTHING FOR MY HUSBAND. IF HE LEAVES ME BECAUSE OF YOU, FORGET EVERYTHING. I'LL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL TO FORGET YOUR EXISTENCE. STAY AWAY. STAY OUT OF MY LIFE, MY MARRIAGE, AND OUR LIVES FOREVER."

Gregory run cold, realizing his mistake.

"Skylar, I didn't…" Gregory stuttered, feeling sorry since it was the first time Skylar showed her tears with anger.

"SAVE YOUR EXCUSES!" She exclaimed while crying in pain, Gregory couldn't tolerate hurting her more than he already did.

"NO! I'M NOT MAKING EXCUSES. I TRULY NEED YOUR HELP WITH OUR FAMILY BUSINESS. I CAN'T TOLERATE THE WHAT IF, IF THE SKYLAR I KNEW FOUND SOMEONE BETTER THAN ME," Gregory admitted the truth before adding, "You see, if you're her, I'm happy you're alive and happily married. I don't care if you don't remember me, but please, forgive me for what I've done. It has been eating me alive. Forgive me, even though you're not the Skylar I know."

"YOUR ACTIONS SPEAK OTHERWISE!" Skylar was still fuming but still listened.

"I know because I'm jealous. I'm jealous because I could not do it anymore. I betrayed her, hurt her countless of time and this time, I lost her for good. I took her for granted and I hate myself for it. So please, forgive me on her behalf, and I'm sorry for the trouble, but I needed help around the resort." With sincerity, Gregory kneeled apologetically at her, crying his truth. Skylar wanted to hurt him more, but something had been lifted around her chest, making her calm down.

"Then talk to my husband. I'm so done with you." With venom, she said coldly, looking away with arms crossed.

"Please, Skylar, forgive me." He groveled more on the floor, making her roll her eyes.

"Once my husband forgives you, you'll hear mine." She only said and walked out of the office, feeling relief from the painful past he left on her heart.

Meanwhile, Skylar found Vincencio standing in the hallway, waiting for her to exit the meeting room. He stood up, nervously stroked the back of his head, and apologized for his behavior in the room.

"Sorry, I can't hold it whenever he tries to claim you in front of me." With a soft, embarrassed tone, Vincencio sincerely apologized, but seeing Skylar standing frozen on her spot, he worriedly asked. "Wifey, are you okay?"

Skylar subconsciously placed her hand above her chest, making her tears fall, and, like on cue, her feet began sprinting toward her husband. Vincencio quickly wrapped his arms around her and worriedly caressed her.

"What's wrong, Wifey? I'm here. I'll listen." With worry, Vincencio cooed to his wife.

"What's wrong with me? Gregory…already apologized…" Skylar thought, wondering about the relief she felt around her chest while quietly crying in his arms before responding. "Nothing's wrong…I just…feel relief, and I thought you left me…"

"I thought you already knew I can't stay away from you that long." Amused, Vincencio assured his wife.

"Then why did you walk out?" She pulled away as she asked with a pout. Vincencio found it adorable while he wiped her tears away.

"Well, I might end up beating him up there, and you don't want that news circling the company," he admitted shyly.

"I know, but thank you for being here, for choosing to stay with me." She snuggled one more time in his arms.

"I love you, that's why." He kissed her temple dearly when they heard a fake cough behind them.

"I see that you two are okay now." Gregory genuinely smiled at them.

"You!" Vincencio protectively stood in front of his wife.

"Hey, I'm not going to take her. She already made it clear with four slaps." He raised his hands before caressing his cheeks where she received those slaps.

"Four slaps? Seriously, Wifey?" Vincencio glanced at his wife in disbelief. It's four slaps.

"Well, you left." She replied defensively as she rolled her eyes, crossing her arms.

"And I'm sorry. I sincerely apologize for that. I knew she was not my ex-fiancée ever since I saw how she looked at you at the gala. You're her equal, nothing like my ex, whom I can't keep up with." He sadly smiled as he sincerely apologized to the couple.

"And why are you persistent on making her yours?" But Vincencio won't let him get away easily and just asked him.

"Well, your wife reminds me of her. And being guilty of what I did to her, I wanted to apologize even though your wife isn't her. Sorry if I threatened your marriage." He briefly answered with an apology.

"Then for advice, if you know that you're not moving anymore, let go of what pains you and move forward as you find happiness that's rightfully yours." He firmly gave a piece of advice that lightened Gregory's mood. He was a relief. Vincencio is a protective but a kind man.

"Thanks, man, but setting personal matters aside, I still need your help with our resort, will you still consider it and start a fresh partnership?" Gregory took the opportunity and changed the subject to what mattered to him.

"I reconsider it if you change your design and layout, and you have to be directly simple but relaxing when you create these mediums." With a cold tone, Vincencio considered as he added his suggestion.

"You…" He was surprised at his suggestion.

"He's a meticulous design project manager." With pride, Skylar informed Gregory about Vincencio in her company.

"I'm meticulous because my boss is." He teasingly refuted, making Skylar slightly slap his arm for it.

"Then can I reschedule a meeting with you and maybe around our resort so you can check it too before we could finalize a partnership?" With a hopeful smile, he suggested gently, with no ill intention at all.

"I like the way you speak now. It's much better than before, and I agree." He grinned and added, "Just prepare three rough drafts of these pamphlets, we'll discuss the rest there."

"Thank you for this opportunity, and again, sorry." With gratefulness, he thanked the couple and apologized to them again.

"Don't do it again, or I'll give you your nightmare," he warned, making them laugh.

"Warning taken. See you around, Mr. and Mrs. Saison-Monsour." He responded politely before he left with a new opportunity for his resort.

"Seriously, meeting in the hallway." Medina teasingly interjected, making Skylar glare before proceeding and handing her work tablet to her. "Got something for you, and it's urgent."

"I could tell it's overtime," he assured when Skylar frowned before turning to his wife's secretary. "Just inform me, Medina, if she's coming home or not."

"Noted." Medina chuckled.

"YAH! Hubby, I'm here." She whined, making Vincencio kiss his wife's lips.

"Well, you might forget it. Anyway, see you around." He teased them and left them to do his job.
