Mr. & Mrs. Saison-Monsour: The Mafia & The Slayer Married Life

Chapter 25: Pt. 4 [Dealing With Ex-Lover]: 24: Meeting With Ex-Lover

Skylar kept her involvement with a myth hidden from her husband, and their couple routine continued as usual: humorous banter about their shortcomings and being a wonderful pair once again. Despite the irritating calls they had recently received, the couple continued to ignore the calls and lavished each other with delight and love. But their good mood was short-lived when Skylar's ex, Gregory Sterling, showed up at the La Luna Perfume & Jewelry company without an appointment.

"Ahm, boss, your ex—I mean, Mr. Gregory Sterling is here for a meeting." With disgust, Medina informed Skylar, who had been having a warm break with her husband. "Should I kick him out?"

"You can do that because ever since the gala, he's been annoyingly calling me. But Medina, we don't want that kind of reputation circling out of the blue. And besides, I want to play hard-to-get in his eyes and see what he'll do." Sinisterly, Skylar smiled amusingly and cracked her fingers, and Medina knew that gesture well.

"Wifey…" Vincencio warned, snapping her from her grim desire.

"Don't be afraid; you'll be around whenever I'm with him." Immediately, she sweetly smiled at her husband, making Medina shake her head.

"If that's what you want, but if he goes another way around you, I won't hesitate to protect what's mine." He reminded his wife of what he could do if things didn't feel right to him.

"And I'm not stopping you from showing it." With a seductive smirk, she winked at him before seriously turning to her secretary and Vincencio. "Med, you know what to do. Let him in, and Hubby, don't leave, and keep eating."

"Should we be sweet in front of him?" He suggested.

"We definitely could; we're married, after all." She responded amusingly before capturing his lips.

"Lovely," he said between their kisses until there was a knock. "Wifey, we've got company now…"

"Argh…wait a minute." Annoyed, Skylar responded but still kissed Vincencio again—deeply and marking—before she pulled away with mischief. "Let the game begins."

"I'll support." Vincencio helped his wife fix her hair and put on her dark eyeglasses.

"I know you will." Skylar sweetly smiled and pecked his lips before responding to the knock. "Come in."

Medina entered first, and she notified her boss with distaste about the person who came to meet her. Vincencio snickered in his seat after hearing Medina's tone while enjoying his meal—waiting to see how things would unfold. Then, in a second, Gregory Sterling emerged from Medina's back and entered with a smug look, completely ignoring Medina's presence.

"It's a pleasure to meet you in person, Ms. Saison." With confidence, Gregory politely greeted Skylar, who wasn't looking his way and focused on the papers on her desk.

"Correction, I'm Mrs. Saison-Monsour, and please don't be rude to my husband and greet him too." With a stone-cold attitude, Skylar firmly corrected Gregory, ignoring him.

"Oh, I didn't see him. Hello, Sir Monsour." Annoyed, Gregory faked his smile as he greeted Vincencio, who finished his meal.

"It's Mr. Saison-Monsour for you." He coldly corrected, which Skylar secretly smirked at.

"Well played, Hubby. Keep going," Skylar cheered in her thoughts while keeping her usual cold facade.

"Pardon me, then. Can we have a moment for a business meeting?" Gregory hid his dismay and carefully asked.

"That's why you're here. Let's hear it." Skylar coldly answered while finishing reading the file before her.

"But…" he tried to reason, but Vincencio quickly interjected.

"What? My wife's business is mine too. So go on, I'll listen." Feeling protective, Vincencio quickly intercepted what Gregory attempted—he wouldn't let him get on his way easily, particularly around his wife. Gregory was fuming and could not say anything about that, which Skylar liked.

"If you aren't going to start, then leave. Don't waste my time here." Skylar rested her back on her chair as she sinisterly watched Gregory like an open book.

"Okay, I'm here to propose a collaboration with your hotel and restaurant. It piqued my interest in how you managed it within just a year or two, and I would like to learn from you since I'm starting to manage a family business, a beach resort hotel." Gregory composed himself as he swallowed the annoyance in his chest and handed over a file about his proposal. Skylar began checking the proposal when Vincencio spoke.

"Don't tell me, it's the Aquatica Sterling Resort?" Vincencio guessed, making Gregory nod.

"You know that, Hubby?" Skylar wondered.

"Yes, I performed there at the wedding reception, but sadly, the management changed." Vincencio smiled as he gently replied before asking Gregory. "Do you happen to know about it?"

"Well, no one in the family was willing to inherit it when my parents decided to retire and attempted to close it down, but I stopped them. After my work overseas contract expired, I inherited it, hoping to bring its glory back." With a composed attitude, Gregory managed to brief them about their resort hotel before adding, "My wife suggested changing the name and having a fresh look over the hotel. It was working somehow but still not enough."

"It was a nice idea, but changing the name might cause doubt among their loyal customers," Skylar thought while listening to and reading Gregory's proposal. But she got curious about what made him unsatisfied. "Not enough? In what way?"

"Have you checked the customers' reviews about your hotel?" Vincencio quickly followed up.

"Yes, they all returned positive, but I know something is lacking around the hotel. I had been checking the beach resorts and hotels but could not figure out what it was." Gregory honestly answered what troubled his business.

"That's why you asked my wife's help?" With calmness, Vincencio guessed, making Gregory glare at him.

"Yes. Also, please, don't rub it in my face that she's your wife." He spat, making Vincencio grin.

"Well, she's legally my wife," he corrected.

"She knew me first." Annoyed, he spat again, and Vincencio was not backing down.

"And I held her through life till we die," he teased, making Gregory almost lose his cool if not for Skylar's interjection.

"That's enough, boys, and focus on business matters, please." Skylar coldly stopped the two quarreling men before her.

"Yes, wifey." With a sweet smile, Vincencio obeyed his wife's request, making Skylar blush and annoyance for Gregory.

"As I was saying, our partnership will restore my family business's glory," Gregory simplified while hoping to work with Skylar. Skylar knew it, but she wouldn't play nice with him.

"I see. Okay, based on your concept, it is appealing for business purposes, but I don't see any growth in the process. For example, what was the Aquatica Sterling Resort before it was renamed JohnSling Resort Hotel? You did not include the hotel's background so we could examine the modifications that occurred at your resort. Also, you did not include the futuristic proposals you wanted for your resort in the future." Skylar responded firmly to his proposal, making Gregory look upset. He knew he lacked in that part.

"I can't come up with anything. My wife suggested I ask opinions from the hoteliers who knew how to run a resort like ours." Gregory sadly replied, and Vincencio understood where he was coming from. Gregory was a newbie.

"Well, that's a legit suggestion. Resorts and hotels may provide a similar level of tranquility. But my wife wanted to know what kind of resort hotel you want. What do you want your customers to feel? What service do you want to offer to them?" Vincencio asked firmly on behalf of his wife, and Gregory still could not come up with anything.

"Hubby, he seems clueless about what he wanted," Skylar teased.

"You. I wanted you." Gregory snapped as he voiced what he wanted, and Vincencio didn't like it.

"Let me remind you, Mr. Sterling, you are here for business purposes only. So, because you're seeking our help, I suggest you speak to my wife professionally." With firmness, Vincencio coldly reminded Gregory how he should act during a business meeting.

"Thank you, Hubby. So, what do you say about my husband's questions? You need to know why you're determined to recreate your family business. What makes you continue the family business in the first place?" Skylar smiled sweetly at her husband but quickly turned serious as she asked something.

"I want it to keep going because of you. I…propose to you there and…I want to manage it with you…that's the plan, and you're the only missing piece there." Gregory can't take it anymore and honestly gives his biggest reason for keeping their resort hotel going—because of their memories there. Vincencio was ready to counter it, but Skylar stopped him, sensing a little lie in them.

"Mr. Sterling, you are getting out of the topic here, but since you keep bothering me with the same question, I'll give you a firm answer," Skylar spoke bluntly and coldly before popping the dreamy bubbles in Gregory's mind. "Again, I don't know you. You're just a stranger, and a businessman to me. You have mistaken me for someone else. I'm not Skylar Saison you were once engaged to like you were saying. Yes, we had the same name when I was single, but it doesn't mean I know you, Mr. Sterling. I'm contented and happy in love with my husband. So, let's keep this meeting purely business, are we clear, Mr. Sterling or else, the door is open, you may leave."

Skylar's warning and firmness, her words resonated with Gregory like a lightning bolt, popping his hopeful bubbles. In defeat, he nodded and didn't utter any words about it.

"So, about your resort hotel, my suggestion is to know what you want to do with it, or if you still can't come up with something, you better close it down." Skylar returned to their topic and gave her honest suggestion.

"But I don't want to; I just don't know what to do next. That's why I needed your help. I admire your hotel, that's why…please, Mrs. Saison-Monsour." He pleaded, making Skylar nod and look over her husband, patting his thigh.

"If you still want to proceed, please speak with my husband. He's willing to give you suggestions and advice for the sake of your resort hotel. I have a meeting to attend, so, excuse me." Skylar grabbed her coat as she excused herself.

"Update me later, Wifey," Vincencio said as he stood up.

"I will. Take care. I love you." Skylar nodded and pecked his lips.

"I love you too." He smiled and watched his wife leave the office before he seriously turned to Gregory for a discussion.

Meanwhile, Skylar released a heavy sigh before she went to Medina's desk to activate her CCTV footage within her office and stayed with her secretary. She decided to eavesdrop on her husband's conversation with her ex. She could not breathe well inside the office because of her ex's presence, and with business matters, she trusted Vincencio to handle that part.

"Seriously, you could have stayed there," Medina amusingly commented while typing on her computer.

"And breathe the same air with him? No, thank you," Skylar sarcastically responded.

"But Vince is in there, and who knows what he might do to your ex?" She reminded her about Vincencio's jealousy over the man.

"I don't care what he'll do to him, but I'm more intrigued by how they'll set aside personal matters for business." She grinned slyly, making Medina chuckle.

"You sly fox," she commented.

"I know, right?" She winked and checked the men inside her office.

"Be grateful you don't have any meetings today, or else you won't be able to do this," Medina reminded her, and Skylar hugged her.

"Thank you, Med. You're the best." She even kissed her cheek, making Medina shake her head.

"Whatever, boss. Just don't get caught." She reminded her, and Skylar nodded.

"I'll hide here." With a whisper, Skylar winked and hid under Medina's desk while watching the CCTV footage on her work tablet. No CEO would do such a thing—only Skylar would dare to do it, and she was not afraid to do it.

"Unbelievable." Amused, Medina chuckled as she focused on her job while her boss hid under her desk, eavesdropping.
