Chapter 24: Pt.3: 23: Entangled With A Myth
"Hubby, can you tell me what triggered your anger earlier?" Skylar wondered teasingly as she pulled away from the kiss.
"Why do you ask when you know the answer to that? You saw it." Vincencio tried to dodge the question, but Skylar won't let him.
"Oh, come on, Hubby, do tell, please." Skylar pleaded teasingly, making Vincencio sigh in defeat.
"Fine, he kept insisting on having a personal discussion with you, a meeting that doesn't sit right with me at all." Vincencio's mood turned sour, and with gritted teeth, he answered.
"Hmm, admit something to me…what feeling was it?" she pressed with amusement, making him frown.
"I'm jealous, okay? I'm so fucking jealous every time they give you that look like they could have you and that man…I don't want to say it, as you already heard them." He growled as he admitted his feelings there.
"What?" She dared even though she already knew the answer.
"I'll bring them nightmares once they touch or even hurt you." He firmly responded while his eyes filled with determination and flame as their eyes met.
"This is not just the possessive and protective husband that he is. This time, he's owning me…" Skylar thought. She was able to sense Vincencio's emotions, including murdering for her, warming her up, and deepening her love for him. "I like it, Hubby. I love how you own me, but be sure to put them in the right place since they could only look at me but never touch or hurt me. But if they do, I won't stop you from doing that."
"Thank you for allowing me, and mark my words, I'll bring that to them." He captured her lips again as he marked his words that Skylar held dearly.
"I know you will, but now, let's enjoy the view." With a returned kiss, Skylar trusted him and enjoyed the rest of their night in the restaurant.
The couple enjoyed the view as they randomly talked about whatever came into their minds, yet their secrets remained unspoken until Skylar felt something strange. She decided to play music from her playlist on her phone called No One Else Come Close by Joe and invited Vincencio for a dance.
"Can I have this dance, Hubby?" Skylar asked sweetly.
"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" Vincencio teased, making them chuckle.
"Well, I asked first." She shrugged her shoulders and smiled lovingly at him.
"Okay, let's dance under the moonlight." He took her hand and joined his wife for a dance.
"Just you and me?" she asked sweetly as they swayed along to the beat of the music.
"Yeah, I love you and me, dancing in the moonlight. Where no one could see, it's just you and me tonight." He said teasingly, making Skylar chuckle.
"Why does that sound familiar?" Amused, Skylar noticed, making Vincencio shrug his shoulder.
"Maybe I get that from a song." Vincencio denied it, but Skylar knew he was lying.
"Are you a fan because I know those lyrics?" she teased.
"Not quite, but I love the beat," he admitted.
"Then perhaps we could jam," she said as she leaned her head on his chest, but Vincencio had to ruin it.
"You could sing?" Vincencio teasingly gasped, making Skylar frown before hitting his arm softly.
"Er, no? I'm tone-deaf, remember?" She defensively admitted, making him laugh. "It's not funny."
"It's adorable in its own way," Vincencio sweetly said, capturing Skylar's lips and letting the music swallow them.
With a piece of slow music playing in the background, the couple swayed smoothly as their foreheads touched each other and savored the moment of being together. They were in love. It was growing beyond what they had anticipated.
As they were enjoying their lone moment, something stirred around Skylar's sensitivity, and for some odd reason, she felt a strange vibe coming from somewhere.
"Are you okay?" With a sincere voice, Vincencio worriedly asked.
"I'm fine. Stay close, please," Skylar softly wished, and her husband nodded.
They kept the slow dance, but Skylar didn't realize something had shifted in her. Something lethal crept beneath her skin as she tried to locate the malicious energy sent directly at their position—her position.
"Who is it now? Who's trying to disturb my alone time with my hubby?" With annoyance in her thoughts, Skylar wondered as she kept dancing with her husband.
The dance became an excuse as Skylar squinted her eyes like she had the power to see things from a long distance. She was unsure what she was doing, but somehow, she could tell the malice was like a plea for help. It wasn't long before she found where it came from—somewhere within the woods beneath the mountain—and wished.
"Whoever it is, let me have fun with my husband. Die, vermin." Like a curse, Skylar deadly glared in the woods, making some bats fly away for their lives. And she just enjoyed her moonlight dance with her husband.

As the night ended at the hotel, the couple headed back home when Vincencio got an emergency call from a friend. Skylar saw the anger and worry written over him, making her cup his face before smiling with assurance.
"Go, your friend needs you. But promise to return to me and tell me the story afterward." Skylar requested firmly, letting Vincencio be a trusted friend and letting him excuse himself for the night.
"Okay, I love you, and lock the door." Vincencio smiled gratefully and kissed her temple before leaving their house again.
"I will. I love you too." She responded and prayed for his safety. "Be careful."
But as soon as Vincencio left their house's perimeter, Skylar quickly went to their bedroom. She removed her clothes but stopped before her wardrobe section and pressed a hidden finger scanner to access her dark secret room—her well-equipped weaponry office. Different heavy-loaded guns and types of knives were stored and displayed well. But on the aisle was a huge forty-five-inch screen with distinct angle views from venues and active detailed information of different people she kept eyeing.
"Access: Sky Lux Hotel & Gallery Hotel mountain view border branch." Skylar coldly commanded a well-maintained security system and showed her hotel branch before she added, "Navigation activates: check mountain northwest woods area."
As the screen showed the live captured footage of the area, Skylar took control of the camera angle hidden in the woods of the mountain. She checked thoroughly until she saw a trail of dead bats while a few flying bats hovered over something. She recalled the moment they flew out from the woods, making her check the flock of bats gathered. When she found the right spot, she saw a corpse—a decayed corpse.
"Decayed corpse? Medina might know something about this one." She mumbled to herself and quickly asked Medina to check something for her. "Med, kindly check the live footage around the northwest area of my hotel branch near the border. I want to be sure about something."
'Noted. Just give me a second.'
In reality, no woman could easily tolerate the hideous look of a decaying body. Anyone could throw up at how bad it looked, but Skylar was different. She was not surprised to see dead bodies or any decaying bodies in front of her—she was used to seeing one before she turned into a killer. She kept staring at the footage where the decayed corpse curled up like a mummy from a film, but instead of being wrapped by cloth, it wore something from the modern Victorian era and was badly drained.
"Blood drain? From what?" Skylar thought deeply when Medina rang.
'From our hidden cameras throughout the entire mountain's woods, there was no threat lurking around, but in the area you wanted to check, I found a dead body—a decayed body. And from how it looks, it seems dead for a month already, though I wasn't sure.'
"Can you clarify it?" In her usual cold voice, Skylar curiously wondered.
'Based on our DNA Identifier…'
"Medina?" Skylar called out since she was making it suspenseful.
'I'm here. It's just…I'm not sure how to say this, whether it's real or not, or maybe this DNA Identifier that Joey invented is broken, but based on what it says, it died last night, and it's a night creature, a myth…'
"Meaning?" Skylar's curiosity kicked in despite her gut telling her something hard to believe.
'Compare the live footage and the details I sent into your system. Be the judge since I'm not sure what to believe by seeing this.'
It didn't take long before Skylar read the DNA detail that Medina sent to her and began comparing it to the live footage of the decayed body. Somehow, the comparison made her heart react differently like she knew something but could not name it until her chest tightened. She lost her balance and fell on her knees while holding her chest.
"Argh, what the fuck…" Skylar groaned as she tried to ease the pain in her chest until Vincencio's face flicked into her mind, and somehow, it helped. "…what just happened?"
'Are you okay there?'
"I'm fine, just a headache." Skylar had to lie as she replied as soon as the pain subsided.
'So, what do you say? It's a vampire, right?'
"I wanted to say you're kidding, but when I checked it myself, the myth isn't just a bedtime story anymore." Calmed down, Skylar coldly responded before she stared over the DNA detail about the corpse. "Irina…Irina Real Draven…sounds familiar…"
'If this is real, Irina Real Draven was a noble vampire, a baroness that belonged to a long history of Avalon Kingdom when they encountered their kind. Also, this lady was still young.'
"How old?" Curiously, Skylar wondered about the age.
'Since she's a vampire, then her appearance hasn't changed much, and I think she's around eighteen if you look at it.'
"A teenager…" Skylar thought before asking something that got her curious. "Can you tell me what kills it?"
'Her blood was drained, and what should we do?'
"Like I thought. But from the looks of it, she got entangled with something, and with no animals or anything to feed on, it slowly decayed her. Meaning she's wounded." Skylar carefully guessed before she carefully decided. "Take the body into our custody. I want to check it myself."
'Do you hear yourself? If this is a vampire, we shouldn't get entangled with their world.'
"I know, and even if I wanted to leave the corpse behind, something in me can't leave that body be," she thought before she honestly replied. "I can't, Medina, and you know when my guts started working."
'If you put it that way, then there's nothing I can do since it saves us countless times. So, what do you want to do with it?'
"Take the body to my penthouse's hidden room. Make sure the AC is less than zero. I'll check her when I have time." With her cold tone, Skylar sternly commanded.
'Understood, but be careful; we don't know what will happen if we get involved with them once it wakes up.'
"I know. Let's keep her safe for now." She coldly responded as she checked the information once again.

"It's short but well-pointed." Skylar found herself smirking as she wondered about something. "How did Joey manage to create such a device? Well, they were useful."
'He's just having out-of-this-world creative bones. And Boss, I've got something.'
"Proceed." Skylar let Medina proceed with her report.
'I've got an added issue about our vampire's situation. She exists as Irina Real, based on the intel I've got about her. She worked at SR Night Pub as a bartender. According to the footage we have around the area, she was on the way home through her usual route, but last night, she got entangled in a gang fight. She was mistakenly stabbed in her abdomen, but since she's a vampire, she could not heal herself immediately.'
"Make sense of excessive bleeding. How about the gangs?" Skylar wondered about the gangs.
'Will you believe the gangs belonged to our two targets on the line?'
"Interesting. Who are they then?" She wondered sinisterly.
'The Presley Siblings and Gennie Gastro.'
"You mean, the Tiger Gang from the Presley Brothers and the Dragon Mirror from Gennie Gastro fought each other?" she repeated ecstatically.
'Affirmative. They fought over petty things about who would rule Night Street Ave.'
"Me," Skylar answered with a sinister laugh, which only meant death. "Make preparations; I'll bring them back to us."
'Affirmative.'
