Chapter 403: The Angel’s Worst Nightmare
While the warlock's party and the angel were transported to the Jade Palace, Camille gave them a brief summary of her world.
It wasn't the kind of material that she would have ready at any moment. Still, after Dante's arrival, Camille wanted to make sure that she could accommodate any otherworlders that could arrive in the future.
With the help of Paige, they managed to create a pamphlet with all of the most significant changes between Earth and Terra, with one of the main points being that "magic did not exist."
Of course, the pamphlet was in English, so Wolfram had to translate the contents to the group.
Faelyn was curious to know how Camille and Dante knew each other, and with Wolfram translating for her, she replied honestly and said that they had met almost a year ago, on the same day that the warlock arrived in their world.
"We are friends," Camille said, making Gabriel's eye twitch with jealousy and indignation.
As the vehicle kept moving, Camille talked a little about the problems they were having with demons, and she knew that without Dante, they would have had a much harder time dealing with them.
When the handler mentioned Netherius, the entire group shuddered in unison. Even Gabriel was well-acquainted with the necromancer, and it was clear by their expressions that they didn't want anything to do with him.
"*Tch* Dante was fighting Netherius while we were walking around!" Soren exclaimed, confusing Camille, who couldn't understand why the warrior looked so angry.
"I know you are frustrated, but we literally had no other choice," Sylas calmly replied.
After Wolfram translated their words, Camille chuckled as she found it endearing that Dante had a group of friends who cared about him that much. Then, she talked about Asphodel's support during the battle.
"*Gasp* Asphodel is here too!?" Faelyn wondered aloud, as she believed that the vampire had been assassinated a long time ago.
Their conversation still wasn't over. There were still many things left unsaid and many questions on the otherworlders' minds. However, they had to stop when they arrived at the Jade Palace.
Camille explained to the group that Dante wasn't home, as he had gone to the Siberian forest to complete a mission, but she still urged them to socialize with the people at the base.
While the group stood in the center garden of the house with Camille giving them a set of rules to follow, Lilith walked past the hallway adjacent to the garden, munching chips from a bag and utterly ignoring the people around her.
'Huh, was that-…?' Faelyn pondered when she saw the frame of the Succubus Queen, getting interrupted by the angel.
"DEMOOOON!" Gabriel shouted, taking out his sword from his back and glaring at Lilith in the distance.
Lilith turned around when she felt the hostility aimed at her, raising an eyebrow and continuing to eat her chips.
Not even a second after she acknowledged the angel's presence, Varamor, Saris, Isidor, and Alice landed in the center garden and surrounded Gabriel.
Seeing not only Lilith and a banshee, but also the Dragon King of Hell himself, Gabriel believed that it would be better to retreat, but when he gazed at Isidor in his cyborg body, the angel could recognize the energy flowing within him.
"You… Why is a Holy Knight fighting alongside demons!?" Gabriel asked, his golden aura starting to become visible.
"Lord Gabriel, as a former Holy Knight, I recommend that you stand down…" Isidor said with a cold tone, keeping the tip of his sword aimed at the angel.
"So, you know who I am and you still raise your weapon against me!?" Gabriel asked, a vein of anger appearing on his forehead.
"I do not serve Aelara anymore, and I certainly don't serve you," Isidor continued, his tone concise and his posture firm.
Gabriel looked around him to see if there was at least one person on his side, but everyone glared at him with utter discontent, and when he saw Camille's look of contempt, he instantly lowered his guard.
"If you speak the Terran language, show them around the base… Except the angel, bring him to my office!" Camille said with a commanding tone, prompting everyone to disperse.
Seeing that Isidor was familiar with Gabriel, she asked for the holy cyborg's assistance when speaking to him.
The handler knew that having the angel around with them could be a problem in the future, but considering that the man was kneeling before her and seemed to revere her, for whatever reason, Camille thought she could take advantage of that.
However, she first needed to find the reason for the angel's infatuation with her, as it reminded her of Netherius and how he suddenly wanted to marry her when the necromancer had never shown an ounce of love for anything.
'Maybe Dante was right—Maybe there is something weird with me…' Camille thought.
When the handler recalled some of her conversations with the warlock, Dante mentioned that it was extremely unusual for a demon to listen to a normal human like Camille.
Nonetheless, Camille was able to tame the harpion twins to the point where they were almost unrecognizable from any other child.
It wasn't only the twins. Lilith, who was loyal to Dante, mostly due to her lust for him, also found herself wanting to protect Camille for no apparent reason.
After the most recent events with Netherius, even Varamor seemed to have an affinity for Camille, and the Dragon King of Hell was the type of demon who would only serve or listen to the people he considered strong.
'I'll question this angel guy. He might give me some piece of info that explains why this happens…' Camille thought as she made her way to her office, followed by Gabriel, Isidor, and Varamor.
'Well, in the meantime, this is going to be a great surprise for Dante, heh…' The handler continued, letting out a satisfied smile after knowing that Dante's old friends had been searching for him all along.
