MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1564: Exploring Ecalos (2)

"Here we are."

"The west wing."

Hearing Ryvrthe say those words, Valyr went ahead and took a look at his surroundings, only to notice that the general layout of the place wasn't all that different from the main corridor he was in when he first entered Ecalos.

However, as he continued to look at his surroundings for a bit more, he eventually noticed that almost half of the corridor was occupied by rooms that were at least four times the size of the large rooms in the corridor he traversed back then.

As for the remaining half of the space, all of them were occupied by rooms of varying sizes, reminding Valyr once more that the old Veldanyr did everything it could to fit as much people as possible underground.

Pushing the grim memories Vaughn shared with him in the past to the side, the young man took in a deep breath as he asked Ryvrthe, "So, why are we at this corridor and not the other ones?"

"The west wing is a special corridor," the man explained as he began to scan through the various rooms embedded on the walls. "Well, now that I think about it, each of the four main corridors are special in their own way."

"The east wing is where you'd find most of the residential areas, while the north wing takes care of most commercial and industrial spots."

"The south wing takes care of education and research, while the west wing…"

"…is responsible for all the power generation in this complex."

"…I see." Feeling Ryvrthe's words briefly reverberate throughout the massive corridor, a faint smile appeared on Valyr's face as he began to scan through the rooms they came across. "Are we trying to look for a specific room in this corridor?"

"Yeah." The man nodded. "We're trying to look for the rooms that used to serve as the main generators after the fusion reactors ran out of fuel."

Valyr raised his eyebrow at those words. "This place used to be powered with a fusion reactor."

"A main fusion reactor, four back-up fission reactors, and eight back-up alternators, to be more exact," Ryvrthe clarified, only to let out a sigh soon after as the words reminded him of a certain time from his past.

"Now that I think about it, we forgot the fission reactors existed until the very last minute," murmured the man to himself as he continued to walk through the corridor. "By then, the radioactive material we prepared beforehand had already decayed into stable isotopes."

"…" Sensing Ryvrthe's mood becoming somber all of a sudden, the young man took it upon himself to give the former some alone time as he thought of going through each room and checking each one in detail.

Whoosh!

Giving the man a heads-up in advance, Valyr went ahead and pushed both his agility and perception to their utmost limits, activating his ocular skills after that in order for him to scan each room without entering.

Fwoosh!

With that, the young man was able to check the insides of at least a dozen rooms in a few seconds. Then, taking a brief pause, he noted down all of the rooms in his mind that still looked to have surviving electronic appliances inside them.

Swoosh!

Continuing to repeat this routine over and over, Valyr was eventually able to record almost all of the rooms that were part of the west wing, only excluding the ones that were far too big for him to check.

Going through the list of rooms he had collected in his mind thanks to his sudden idea, the young man eventually made his way to one of the rooms near where Ryvrthe stood, recalling that the place had a few devices that might possibly have a stator within them.

Creak…

Forcing his way into the room by relying on his absurdly high strength, Valyr eventually found himself inside what was previously once a one bedroom apartment.

Slowly scanning the room for the electronic appliances he took note of, the young man also took note of the other amenities within the room, each one allowing him to form a rough image of the person that used to occupy the room in the past.

"They seem like the frugal type," murmured Valyr to himself, noting how most of the amenities the person owned focused more on function than form.

In fact, thanks to that person's decision to choose function-forward appliances, the young man eventually found an appliance that looked to have a stator inside it.

"I have no idea what this thing could be," Picking up an appliance that looked like a cube with a massive dent on one of its corners, Valyr went ahead and used his ocular skills on it.

Whoosh!

With both skills activated, the young man was able to barely make out an image of the components contained inside the cube, giving him the opportunity to cross-reference what he saw to the various stators he'd come across in the past.

"Hmm…" In the end, after going over the cube's components a couple of times, Valyr wasn't able to find any part that looked anything like a stator.

Though, just as he was about to put the cube back down to where he picked it up, the young man got the feeling that the cube he picked up was probably special.

Deciding to follow his instincts in that regard, the young man went ahead and chucked the cube into his spatial bracelet, only to check through the other electronic appliances the room had that were still intact.

Unfortunately, just like the cube he picked up, none of the appliances he checked looked to have any stator within them whatsoever.

'It's just the first room,' thought Valyr to himself, psyching himself up as he headed out of the room he just entered. Brought to you by MV6LEMPY6R.

'With how many rooms there are in this corridor, I'm sure we'll eventually find a stator or an alternator somewhere.'

"Valyr?" Just as he was about to head to the next room he had in mind, the young man stopped in his tracks as he heard Ryvrthe call out to him.

"What is it?" he asked, moving closer to where he heard the latter's voice.

"Come here," said the man in response, his tone containing a hint of excitement.

Taking note of that slight excitement in Ryvrthe's voice, the young man decided to speed up his pace a bit, eventually finding himself in one of the larger rooms within the corridor.

Walking around the large room for a bit, he soon found Ryvrthe standing in front of a large machine with his eyes gleaming.

"Take a look at this." Sensing that Valyr had arrived, the man beckoned the young man to come closer as he pointed at the machine's center. "What do you see?"

"A bundle of wires and components?" said Valyr in response, giving Ryvrthe a look of slight confusion.

"Wait…" Though, once he took a look at the thing the man was pointing at once more, the young man began to recognize a few of the parts making it up.

With that, it did not take long for Valyr to understand why Ryvrthe called for him.

"Is that… what I think it is?" he asked, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

"It is, indeed," said Ryvrthe in return, grinning as wide as he possibly could.

"I didn't know it was possible…"

"But that's a fully-intact alternator right there."
