MHA: Super My Hero Record

Chapter 6: Ch: 06

In a world where supernatural abilities have become woven into the fabric of society, known as the "Individuality Society", it is said that over 80% of the human population possesses some form of "individuality." This world is divided into two groups: those who wield their abilities to create evil, known as "villains," and those who wield theirs to create good, known as "heroes."

Some harbor resentment toward a society that generally prohibits the use of individuality, while others have faced persecution due to their unique abilities. Regardless of their circumstances, those who harbor dissatisfaction with the current order and spread malice and violence are labeled "villains."

Villains wield the power to destroy and kill without hesitation. People live in torment and terror of their malice.

However, just as there are those who spread malice, this world also has heroes who stand against the villains. Those who confront unrestrained violence head-on bring peace and security to the people.

"Don't come any closer! Stay back!! Bveera!?"

"Suji!? Damn it!! Gappe!"

"Taba's down too!? What the hell kind of strength is this!? There's no way this is possible!?"

"Mukuri!?"

"If it comes to this, I'll use the people around me as shields—Mukky!"

"Newgi-san!? No, no, you're too fast, I don't even have time to grab hostages... Abeji!?"

In a bank within a Japanese city, a group of villains who had attempted a robbery were wiped out in a matter of seconds. They collapsed to the ground without even the chance to use their unique abilities.

Looking down at the fallen villains stood a man with spiky blonde hair and jade-colored eyes. The man, who radiated an aura unlike that of any symbol of peace, was none other than Gogeta, the newly crowned No. 1 hero.

Within mere minutes of the villains' attack on the bank, Gogeta had arrived in response to the report and brought the incident to an end in seconds.

Faced with the overwhelming power of the current No. 1, the bystanders were left speechless.

These guys... I feel like I've seen them somewhere before. Maybe it's just my imagination?

Gogeta, feeling a strange sense of déjà vu toward the defeated villains, handed them over to the police waiting outside.

"I knocked them unconscious. Unfortunately, there was nothing nearby to restrain them with, so I left them as is. Please bind them before they wake up."

"Ah, yes. Gogeta, thank you for taking down the villains."

"Don't mention it. I'll leave the rest to you."

After handing over the villains, who had lost consciousness and had their very will to resist Goleta followed the instructions from his earpiece and took off from the scene.

Without time to accept gratitude or hear words of praise, he literally flew toward the next location.

Yet despite the relentless pace of his activities, there was no sign of fatigue. Gogeta arrived at the next scene within seconds and resolved the incident just as quickly.

His presence was truly reminiscent of All Might. Yet no one could truly compare to him. Because he was not just a "super" hero who supported people's peace and security, but someone who gave hope to people through his very existence.

His overwhelming power and speed, which no one could match, had already spread throughout Japan in an instant, becoming a deterrent against crime. But his appeal didn't stop there.

"Oh, looks like I beat you to it this time! Good work, partner!"

"You're the one who saved lives, partner."

Above all, the fact that he was now teamed up with the former No. 1 served as a significant deterrent against villains. All Might, who had already finished disaster relief, smiled as usual, and Gogeta returned the smile to the symbol of peace.

"However, while splitting up is fine, this is the fourth time our locations have overlapped. Communication isn't flowing smoothly either."

"HAHAHA! We've only been working together for a month! These things happen! Let's take it slow and steady."

"No, I'm not blaming the administrative staff for the reports. It's my fault for not noticing you were already there."

"Ugh, you stoic man! You're still so cool!"

All Might and Gogeta had been working together for two weeks now. Their strength and reliability had spread throughout Japan, and the news had crossed the seas to resonate around the world. With power that could stand shoulder to shoulder with the symbol of peace, mobility that sometimes even surpassed All Might, and strength that needed no introduction, no one dared question Gogeta's abilities just two days after they'd teamed up.

"This is incredible! Way too awesome! Gogeta, if it's not too much trouble, could you sign this for me—"

"Hey, me too!"

"Me too!"

"Is this okay?"

"What the—!? When did you—!?"

Additionally, despite his awkwardness, he never failed to provide fan service, immediately responding to anyone who asked for an autograph. He signed so quickly that some fans couldn't even perceive when he'd written it, and their excitement and joy left them acting strangely.

"Hey, Gogeta, if you're going to sign autographs, you need to let them see you do it properly. You'll confuse them."

"What? Really? I thought they might have other plans, so I wanted to finish as quickly as possible..."

"Hmm, good intentions gone awry!"

And then there was this naturalness. Goto Shintaro, the introverted personality within Gogeta, tended to overthink things and occasionally ended up doing odd things out of consideration for others. However, such misplaced consideration, combined with Gogeta's cool exterior, created a gap that had begun to be accepted by the public as a kind of natural charm.

"Well, time to wrap up the chatter. Gogeta, the biggest battle of the day is here!"

"Yeah, I got the message too. There's been a major passenger ship accident off the coast."

"That's right. I'm sure you know..."

"Pivot point, fulcrum, and point of action, right?"

"Exactly. There's nothing we can't do if we work together, but we need to be careful and thorough!"

"Bold and swift, right? Then..."

"Let's go."

They took flight. All Might used his leg strength while Gogeta used his own flight ability, both heading toward the scene. Their figures seemed to point toward the future, and those who witnessed it filled their hearts with anticipation and hope.

"—Wait, we appreciate the help, but—"

"Could you ease up a bit?"

The other heroes were overwhelmed by the sheer power of the two top heroes.

"So All Might didn't just form a team with Gogeta, he formed it to teach Gogeta what it means to be the No. 1 hero?"

"Even though he's called the No. 1 hero, Gogeta is still a rookie. Even if his abilities are sufficient, there are people who feel uneasy due to his lack of experience. Many seem to recognize this team-up as a temporary measure to give Gogeta the presence befitting a No. 1 hero."

"I see. So the true test for Gogeta will come after the team-up dissolves?"

"That will be the moment when we witness his true mettle. Well, I'm not too worried about that."

"What's that supposed to mean? Who do you think you are?"

"I'm just watching from the back row."

"You're more shameless than I thought! You were an anti-Gogeta fan just the other day, weren't you?"

"I don't know anything about that. I just jumped on the bandwagon because my daughter is a Gogeta fan."

"You're such a person!"

"...What is this? A comedy sketch?"

The conversation was supposed to be about Gogeta and All Might, the two top heroes, but somehow it had devolved into a comedy routine.

Ignoring the chaotic banter between the announcer and commentator on TV, Gogeta... Goto Shintaro greeted the person entering through the door.

"Welcome back, Yagi-san. How was the diagnosis?"

"Well, the doctor was amazed. He said that an organ that had been completely destroyed is starting to recover, albeit slightly. Both the stomach and lungs are small but functioning properly, and if things continue to progress smoothly, he might be able to recover to the point where it doesn't interfere with daily life!"

"Is that so? That's wonderful."

Goto Shintaro also breathed a sigh of relief as All Might, now Yagi Toshinori, smiled and shared the diagnosis from the hospital. The hospital where Yagi goes is reputable, with many skilled doctors who are extremely discreet.

With the hospital's endorsement, Yagi Toshinori's spirits were higher than usual. Thinking that he might be able to return to the diet he'd given up on, depending on how his recovery progressed, he began to feel excited about the future.

"It's been so long since I've looked forward to tomorrow like this! Thank you, Goto-kun!"

"We're here for each other during tough times. In fact, I practically hand over all the administrative work to you."

Currently, since he was teamed up with All Might, most of Gogeta's administrative matters were sent to All Might's office. All that remained for Gogeta was writing a few reports on the day's incidents. From Gogeta's perspective, it was like getting most of his work done with minimal effort.

The people working at All Might's office were also top-notch, as they supported the work of a symbol of peace. From their perspective, the documents All Might brought were no different from what they usually handled, so they could process them without much trouble.

In fact, as their combined efforts became more widely recognized, the number of crimes had been decreasing, so the overall workload had also diminished somewhat.

Such was the so-called win-win relationship between the two, but All Might seemed somewhat dissatisfied.

"Hey, hey. Comparing human organs to paperwork? That leaves me with no dignity! At least accept my gratitude when I offer it, partner!"

"Alright, alright. I understand. Go wash your hands. I got some delicious eggplant from the vegetable shop today and made some easy-to-digest simmered eggplant."

"Really!? Can I have some too!?"

"From what I heard, it's easy to digest, so a small amount should be fine. I think the doctor probably said something similar."

"That's right! Wow! You're pretty considerate when you're being yourself!"

It had been a while since he'd had a proper meal, and even though it was a small portion, knowing he could eat something normal lifted his spirits. Even in the countryside, he lightly warned not to disturb the neighbors as he headed to the kitchen to prepare the meal.

"Still, I'm surprised you're such a good cook. Did you learn from the staff at the facility?"

"Yes, the food made by the people who took care of me had flavors I loved, so I asked them to teach me whenever I had free time. Thanks to that, I can stay healthy, and once my life settles down, I plan to visit them again."

"I see. That's good."

"How about you, All Might? Have you gotten used to life here?"

"Ah, it's different from the city center. The quietness of the countryside was a bit unsettling at first, but now I'm completely relaxed here."

All Might's office had become cramped due to Gogeta's paperwork, so he was currently living with Shintaro as a temporary roommate. The house was originally designed to resemble a traditional samurai residence, so it had many rooms, most with tatami flooring, creating a calm environment where he could truly relax.

"Since I've been staying here, I've been sleeping deeply and waking up energized in the morning!"

"That's good. Come on, it's ready, let's eat."

"Yes!"

"Oh, All Might, here's your rice porridge."

"...Okay."

"I made sure to add dashi and season it properly, so please eat it all."

"Got it!"

Is he a child? The symbol of peace, with sparkling eyes before the served meal, made the 'super' hero smile wryly.

As they enjoyed their meal, the conversation shifted to their hero activities. The main topic was how their media exposure had exploded since they'd started working together.

"Still, even though we had some expectations after teaming up, it's really increased, the media-related work."

"Hmm... Yeah, to bring peace and security to people, it's important for them to understand the existence of heroes like us. Making people think, 'There are heroes like this,' is also an important role of a hero."

"Well, that might be true, but... the other day, we were photographed after swapping costumes. What on earth is that going to be used for?"

"Apparently, it's for a trading card game. Some game company is developing a card game, and they're going to release it as a limited-edition item."

"...I feel like I've glimpsed the dark side of corporate culture."

When that card was released, many All Might fans would probably travel across the country to find it. Imagining that scene made him feel like he'd witnessed the shadowy underbelly of corporate machinations.

"Get away! Don't come any closer! Do you want this kid to die!?"

In a society where heroes had become commonplace, even with numerous heroes serving as deterrents to villains, crime still occurred. Even in Japan, where top heroes like Gogeta and All Might existed, disasters caused by villains still happened.

A man with the ability to grow gigantic rampaged through the streets. No one could intervene because he held a young girl in his massive hand.

"Ikka! Ikka! Someone, please save my daughter!"

"Mom..."

The girl, her neck gripped tightly by the man's hand, hung her head. The pain and suffocation spreading throughout her body caused her consciousness to fade, and she couldn't even call for help.

However, the girl couldn't help but wish: Someone, please help me. She shed tears of regret and pain, and in that instant, she felt her body grow light.

When she came to, she found herself freed from the man's grip... no, thrown away.

Everyone stared in amazement. The massive body of the rampaging man was bent into a twisted shape by the kick of a single human being. The impact knocked the man unconscious, and his grip on the girl loosened, causing her to be thrown into the air.

She was thrown high enough to see the entire city spread out below. But the girl felt no fear.

Because the strongest hero, enveloped in golden flames, was already holding her in his arms.

"Are you okay?"

"Huh? Oh, yes! I'm fine!"

The shock and the events that had just unfolded caused the girl, Kenji Ikka, to freeze in place. It wasn't embarrassing to stutter in front of the hero who was looking down at her with concern.

But this wouldn't do. As someone who aspired to be a hero, it was unbecoming to remain silent without even saying thank you.

At least, at least say something.

"I see. That's good."

With a gentle smile, the girl found herself unable to speak. If it were a villain, he'd be glaring with furrowed brows, but with a child, he smiled like this?

The natural smile of Gogeta, different from the defiant grin seen in the media, made Kenji Ikka unable to look directly at his face any longer.

Before she could think further, they landed on the ground. Now, all that remained was to return this girl to her parents... but just as he thought that...

"You damn hero! Don't you dare look down on me!"

The giant man stood up again and charged toward him. It seemed that in his eagerness to rescue the girl, he had misjudged his strength.

Should I have used more force? No, if I had used any more, I might have blown him to pieces... Hmm, this is difficult.

Feeling the weight of his own inexperience, he still didn't forget to prepare for the attack. He felt sorry for the girl he was holding, but she would have to wait just a little longer.

Just as he braced himself for the villain charging at him, spitting foam from his mouth...

"Ugh!!"

Something dropped from the sky and kicked the villain's skull. Knocked unconscious, the villain collapsed to the ground.

Dust swirled around, obscuring the girl's vision, but Gogeta kept his eyes fixed on the figure.

The figure who had kicked the villain down landed on top of him. Looking down at the fallen man, the figure had distinctive features.

Her skin was a radiant brown, and her eyes were a blood-red color. Her ears, as long as a rabbit's, never missed a single sound from the crude villain.

"Hey, it's been a while, Gogeta. You're still as arrogant as ever, which is reassuring."

"Mirko... senpai."

The figure's name was "Rabbit Hero" Mirko. She had appeared in the previous Hero Billboard and was the only female hero ranked in the top 10.

Facing such a fierce hero in every sense of the word.

She looks really annoyed!

Kenji Ikka witnessed Gogeta's true face for the second time that day.
