MHA : Rabbit & Spider

Chapter 5: MHA : Chapter 5 : Cell Mates II

Wait, wasn't that a thing Japanese people did when they were really good friends with someone? That seemed to be how it works, but he guessed he and Rumi were friends now.

Maybe.

He honestly didn't know.

The pair sat in the cell for at least half an hour, talking and getting to know each other. Peter asked her why she turned to underground fighting rings and she just told him 'I really like fighting, that's about it.' He could see that being her reason, from what she told him she didnt even take the cash from winning fights.

Well, the fights that she was actually meant to be doing, she didnt get paid for the ones she crashed.

At least he was pretty sure she didn't.

"What made you start in the ring? Everyone said you seemed like a bit of a pussy at times, ya' know?" She asked, chuckling a bit.

Ouch.

That may have hurt more than All Might punching him.

"I uh, needed some extra cash for me and my family, you know? Took me an hour to convince the guy to pay me without giving him my name." He responded, reminiscing for a bit.

The guy running the whole thing, a 6'7 dude with a shark quirk, was a bit of a dick at first but they ended up getting along. He even hired him to entertain at his daughter's birthday party for a bit of extra pay and gave him a goodbye card when he said he was leaving.

He misses that man sometimes.

"Too bad it got shut down, that was my favorite hang out spot in this wh-" Rumi stopped mid-sentence, her left ear twitching a small bit. Peter's Spider-Sense hummed lightly, warning him of someone coming close.

The cell door slid open slowly with a low clanging sound, the metal brushing up against the stone floor. In walked a man with the head of an orange cat in a police uniform.

Peter had to hold back a chuckle at seeing the bell the man had around his neck.

"Both of you, follow me please." He asked, more like ordered but Peter didnt care. Rumi hopped up and off her spot on the bed and stretched, the boy having more trouble getting himself going after being unmoving for so long.

The cat-headed officer calmly led the two teens down a maze of corridors, the sound of a bustling police station slowly starting to seep through the walls. The group walked until reaching a metal door with a window on it, Peter could make out 4 chairs and a metal table.

Peter and Rumi were led into the room, and told to wait in the chair until someone came and talked to them, the officer promptly left.

They didnt even try to make the same light conversation from the cell, they just waited in silence for what was to come. The sound in the room being Rumi rapidly tapping her foot until the metal door slid open once again and a man walked in.

...

"Scarf man!" Peter yelled at the sight of the hobo looking guy who walked in, she couldn't hold back the need to bark out a laugh.

The girl recognized the guy as that tired looking hero who had come into the fighting ring and shut it down, he better have a good reason to be here. She was still mad at him for that whole thing

Lazily walking forward, turning a chair around, and sitting on it backward all cop style, the black-haired man slapped 2 beige files onto the table. One had her name on it and the other had Peter's, this was getting a tiny bit more interesting.

"Rumi Usagiyama, also known as 'Tiger Bunny'. Age 14, born in Hiroshima, Japan, quirk: Rabbit. Guilty of illegal quirk usage and participation in several illegal underground fighting rings. Currently lives with her father, Daiki Usagiyama " The tired-looking man stated while looking at her, how'd they even get a file on her so quickly? She just got arrested today!

He then turned to the boy next to her, he seemed to have relaxed a tiny bit at seeing the man was gonna be who they had to talk to.

"Hey, man, I wanted to say sorry for calling you a hobo that one time you chased me around a couple weeks ago… We cool?" The boy apologized, giving an awkward smile at the man who didn't seem to be amused.

Rumi, on the other hand, was incredibly amused. She laughed loudly, having to hold her sides for a good minute while being glared at by the man in front of her.

Looking at him, Peter wasn't that far off the mark. Ragged and messy black hair along with I kept facial hair, bags under his eyes, and wearing a black jumpsuit? One couldn't tell this guy was a hero from a glance.

Scarf man groaned in annoyance before continuing to read from the other file. If he was gonna interrogate them, they were gonna annoy the hell outta him! Rumi couldn't do anything less, after all.

That's when she remembered something.

"Hey! while we're on the subject of apologies, sorry for kicking ya' in the face when you busted the fighting ring. But in my defense, ya' don't look like a hero at first glance." She heard Peter snort behind his hand, the man's eye seemed to twitch before he sighed and regained his composure.

The man glared at the two once more and read Peter's file aloud. "Peter Benjamin Parker, also known as 'Spider-Man'. Born in Queens, New York, and moved to Japan 3 months ago, quirk: Spider. Guilty of Illegal quirk usage, participation in illegal fighting rings, and illegal hero activity. Currently lives with only living relative, May Parker."

The pair stared at the man while he stretched after reading their files, he pulled some eyedrops and began applying them nonchalantly.

"Does that about cover it with you two?" He asked, his tone making it clear he didn't want to be here more than they did. "Or are there any other messes I need to be aware of?"

They looked at each other for a second, before Rumi spoke for the both of them. "That's about it, yeah. So, why are ya' here, scarf man? Are ya' gonna double arrest us or something?"

Their interrogator sighed and took on a sterner expression. He ran a hand through his long, unkempt hair.

"I am Shota Aizawa, known as the Erasure hero: Eraserhead. I also happen to be the one charged with dealing with both of your cases on account of you being minors. Next, I'm gonna tell you what the police and I are going to do with you two, any questions before that?"

"Can I still call you scarf man?"

"Should I feel bad for never having heard of you?"

He glared at them in annoyance before speaking again.

"No to both. Here's what we've decided to do with you for the future. 10 months of house arrest and probation, you shall continue your studies through online means, and I will be in charge of making sure you guys stay in line." His hands were intertwined and they hung off the back of the chair.

"Wait, that's it?" Peter blurted out, Rumi could only nod in agreement.

This guy just showed up and tells them they are basically Scott free? Just probation, not even juvie? She gets they were going easy on them for being kids but this felt… weird. This Aizawa dude didn't seem to like them much or be happy about what he just said, so she doubts he agreed to it.

It looked as if there were strings attached to this whole deal, and that those strings also affected him along with them.

"Yes, but on one condition," He answered, his eye twitching for a second. It seemed he really didn't the deal he was talking about

"A lot of people seem to think you have 'Potential' in this line of work, I am not one of them. The police and the staff of UA have decided to sweep your charges under the rug and let you off without serving time on the one condition you attend the UA hero course."

Rumi blinked.

What?

That's it?

Great! She was planning on doing that anyway! Not even fate could keep this bunny down for the count! Hell yeah!

She looked over to her side, her cellmate seemed to be processing their situation a bit slower than she had. A couple of seconds passed before the boy finally spoke.

"Seriously? So we just sit around waiting for the entrance exam? No fine print or anything?"

"Yes, it is truly irrational but I am not in a position to argue with that dammed rat. Remember this though, one slip up and you'll be going straight to juvenile detention, understood? I do not like you enough to keep you around willingly."

Oh, he was definitely gonna love them by the time they were done with UA.

Rumi would absolutely make sure of that.

Guys... I need reviews—like, desperately ... or the next update will be delayed a month. And trust me, I have nothing but time and pettiness.
