Chapter 272: Chapter 273: Space-Time Distortion Field
United Kingdom, Abandoned Factory.
A spaceship hovered above the site. Alan glanced downward, noticing a set of keys repeatedly falling and resetting in the stairwell.
"Activate stealth mode," Alan ordered. Red Queen immediately pressed a button, rendering the ship's exterior transparent and blending seamlessly into the sky.
The group descended from the ship into the deserted factory.
According to Alan's understanding of the Marvel Universe, Jane Foster would be transported from this location to the Dark World, where she would face pursuit by the Dark Elves. Yet, things seemed to have deviated from the original timeline.
Alan approached the stairwell, casually picking up a rock and tossing it into the anomaly. Red Queen immediately analyzed the situation.
"The spatial field here is distorted, but I cannot determine where it leads," she reported.
The rock hovered briefly in mid-air before vanishing.
Alan knew this spatial distortion was caused by the Reality Stone, creating a wormhole-like phenomenon. He was aware of where it might lead but uncertain of the challenges that awaited them on the other side.
To prepare Gwen and Wanda, he explained, "This field will transport us to a planet called Svartalfheim. The Reality Stone is located there, but it's an extremely dangerous place."
Neither Wanda nor Gwen voiced any objections. Having come all the way to the UK, there was no way they would back out now.
Alan took one last look at the abandoned factory before turning to Red Queen.
"Let's enter the ship and depart from here!"
The group boarded the spaceship. Red Queen maneuvered it directly over the stairwell. It was Alan's first experience with spatial travel, and he couldn't help but feel tense. Gripping his seat tightly, he watched as the ship was engulfed in a whirlwind of motion. A circular tunnel appeared before them, its walls shimmering with vibrant, multicolored lights.
In an instant, the spaceship compressed into a singularity and vanished without a trace.
---
Svartalfheim.
The planet's surface was a desolate wasteland shrouded in dull yellow hues. The barren land stretched endlessly, devoid of life or vegetation, resembling a corner of the universe long abandoned and drained of vitality.
A thousand years ago, Svartalfheim had been one of the Nine Realms. But after their defeat in the war against Asgard, the Dark Elves who once thrived there were exiled.
Malekith, the surviving leader of the Dark Elves and ruler of Svartalfheim, had spent the centuries biding his time, plotting his revenge against Odin.
---
On the planet's surface, an ancient, ominous Dark Elf spaceship descended from the sky, crashing into the ground with a loud thud and kicking up a massive cloud of dust. The ship's hatch opened slowly, and a procession of Dark Elves emerged, forming ranks and kneeling reverently.
They awaited their king.
---
Malekith descended the ramp, clad in a battle suit of black and red. Half of his face, scorched and charred black during the war a millennium ago, contrasted starkly with the dark blue complexion unique to Dark Elves on the other half. His spear gleamed menacingly in his hand.
"The Aether is missing. The woman is on this planet! Find her, my people!" Malekith commanded.
His voice ignited a fervor among the Dark Elves. After countless years of hiding in the shadows of the universe, their suppressed battle lust had turned them into raging fanatics.
Dark Elves poured out in all directions, scouring the barren planet for any trace of the Aether. According to Malekith, once the Aether was recovered, they could plunge the Nine Realms back into darkness.
