At Mike's house.
After spending the afternoon by the river, Mike took the three kids back home.
If they stayed any longer, Mike was afraid Clark and Eric might either ruin the river or cause Charles to disappear.
It was unclear whether Charles was simply too lucky or if they were just unlucky, but while they hadn't caught a single fish, Charles had managed to reel one in after another.
He had a very fruitful catch, but in the end, Mike made Charles release most of the fish back into the water.
There were too many to eat.
Speaking of fish, Mike had heard that some rivers were full of Asian carp, which grew big and fat. If he ever had the chance, he would definitely go check them out and turn them into delicious dishes.
After parking the car and putting the barbecue equipment into the storage shed, Mike turned and walked back into the house.
"Hey, who's going to the supermarket to buy today's groceries?"
Looking at the three kids who still had plenty of energy, Mike called out.
"Clark!"
"Charles!"
"Eric!"
The three of them pointed at each other, and Mike quickly kicked them all out.
It was nice to have a bit of peace and quiet.
The three kids rode their bikes toward the supermarket, while Mike washed his face, changed into some comfortable clothes, and sat down in the living room to watch TV.
"Huh? Journey to the West?"
Mike was surprised to see the familiar scenes on the TV screen.
Although this world was very different from the one he had come from, there were still some things that were the same!
Mike watched intently as the mischievous monkey wreaked havoc in the heavens. It brought back fond memories of his childhood.
As he was enjoying the show, he suddenly heard a rumbling noise from outside.
He got up and turned to look, only to see an aircraft flying toward him from the distance.
Seeing it, Mike had a bad feeling in his gut.
Sure enough, just moments later, the aircraft landed on the open space in front of his house.
Mike walked toward the door, then paused. After thinking for a moment, he went to the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and waved it a couple of times in his hand.
"What if I break it? How am I supposed to cook then?"
After a brief pause, he put the knife down, focused his thoughts, and used his abilities.
A few seconds later, a three-meter-long regular sword slowly materialized in his hand.
Nodding in satisfaction, he dragged the sword toward the door.
He opened the door and squinted.
Sure enough, it was him...
Mike saw a familiar bald head and a blonde woman—no, a golden-haired rooster—stepping down from the plane.
"Mike!"
Nick Fury, seeing Mike standing at the door, was visibly moved. He turned to Furse and said, "See? My friend! He's already waiting for me at the door the moment I arrive!"
"Is that so?"
Furse looked at Mike with a skeptical expression.
From her perspective, it certainly didn't look like he was welcoming them.
"Mike! My friend!"
Nick Fury opened his arms wide and started walking toward Mike with the intent of a hug.
Mike sneered. As Nick Fury got closer, Mike slowly drew the sword from behind him.
The sword was long, and Mike dragged it slowly. Nick Fury's steps faltered as he became visibly nervous.
"Dammit, it's you again!"
Mike cursed as he pointed the sword at Nick Fury, causing him to jump backward twice in quick succession.
"Get lost! You're just like a crow, nothing good ever comes when you show up!"
Mike coldly eyed Nick Fury, his sword seemingly ready to strike at any moment.
Nick Fury took two more steps back, forcing a smile. "Hold on, I haven't even told you what I'm here for yet."
"Shut up, I don't want to hear it."
Nick Fury's mouth twitched, and suddenly he said, "Wait, I've got a gift for you."
With that, he quickly ran toward Furse, grabbed the cat Gugu, and walked toward Mike, saying, "Look how cute it is, I'm giving it to you."
Mike glanced at the cat and said, "Leave the cat, and you can go."
Nick Fury casually pulled Furse along, shoved the cat into her arms, and pushed her toward Mike. "What about her? If you help me, I'll give her to you!"
Before Mike could react, Furse elbowed Nick Fury in the face.
"Ow!"
Nick Fury groaned in pain, clutching his eye and sucking in a breath.
At this rate, he'd lose his eye for sure.
Furse, trying to suppress her laughter, introduced herself, "I'm Furse. Fury says you can help me, and I'd like to ask you for a favor."
Furse?
Mike watched her closely, his gaze shifting slightly.
Carol Danvers, the future Captain Marvel.
The moment he saw her, he recognized her immediately. But now, she was calling herself Furse. Was it that her memory hadn't fully returned yet?
If Carol Danvers had appeared and was involved with Nick Fury, was this part of the Captain Marvel storyline?
In the Captain Marvel storyline, after Carol Danvers' memory returned, she became a powerhouse, wiping out a Kree ship effortlessly before the story concluded.
It was straightforward and efficient—no danger, and it might even earn him a favor from Captain Marvel. That favor could come in handy later.
After considering for a moment, Mike nodded. "What do you need help with?"
"Hey, hey!" Nick Fury stepped out from behind Furse, holding his eye and angrily pointing at Mike. "Why is it that when I ask for your help, you refuse, but when she asks, you immediately agree?"
Mike waved the sword in his hand and narrowed his eyes at Nick Fury. "Want to explain yourself?"
Nick Fury shook his head. "You can do whatever you like."
Mike lowered the weapon.
Seeing this, Furse's eyes brightened. She felt a strange sense of confidence that Mike could help her.
"Go ahead, what do you need?" Mike stepped forward, crossing his arms and standing before them.
Nick Fury raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you going to invite us inside?"
Mike frowned. "Invite you in? It's about to be dinnertime. If I let you in, I'd have to feed you too. That's a hassle."
Nick Fury remained silent.
Furse's lips curled upward slightly, and after a moment of hesitation, she said, "I think there's something wrong with my memory. I'm having all these images in my mind, but I can't remember them."
She frowned as she continued, "I feel like I've lived here before, but I don't have any memories of it..."
A look of frustration crossed her face.
"Memories, huh?"
Mike thought for a moment, rubbing his chin. "It should be fine."
In the next instant, a card appeared in his hand.
*Name:* Memory Line: Flashback
*Skill Description:* Helps people with amnesia recover lost memories.
*Note:* Memories, precious things that should not be forgotten.
Mike had created this card years ago, originally intended to erase the memories of certain individuals, but he'd ended up creating a memory-editing card out of curiosity. He never expected it would be useful in a situation like this.
"What's this?" Furse asked, eyeing the card in Mike's hand curiously.
Mike replied, "This will help you recover your memories."
He activated the card, and a pinkish-purple line appeared from the center of his palm, shooting into Furse's mind.
Furse's body stiffened as scenes began flashing in her mind.
