Clark smiled at Charles before walking over to Erik. The two began murmuring to each other about something.

Watching this, Charles felt uneasy.

Sure enough, in the next moment, the two of them rushed toward him, snatched his fish, and ran off.

Charles stared at the scene, feeling as though he were about to burst into tears.

As the three were playfully squabbling, an irresistible, mouth-watering aroma wafted over. They hurriedly grabbed their fish and dashed toward the source.

Mike, holding a skewer of meat, looked at the three kids and, for some reason, thought of the profession of a zookeeper...

Shaking his head, he divided the meat among them and said, "Pick a few lucky fish to keep, but let the rest go."

"Got it!"

The three eagerly nodded and, after finishing the skewers quickly, picked out some fish. As Mike was preparing the fish, one of them grabbed several skewers and began grilling the meat.

After a while, Mike finished preparing the fish, and when he started grilling them, the three handed over the meat they had cooked for him.

Mike took it with a smile and said to Clark, "Clark, have you ever thought about going to college early?"

Clark had always been trouble-free when it came to academics. He was a quick learner and had even taught himself all the courses, including those at the university level...

Clark shook his head. "Not interested. I'll stay in high school for now. I want to attend school just like everyone else."

"Suit yourself."

Mike took a bite of the skewer, raising his eyebrows.

"Dad, how is it?" Erik asked.

"Not bad. It would be better with a little less salt."

Erik grinned.

Mike nodded and asked, "What about you two?"

"We're still self-studying. We don't want to go to college early either."

Charles and Erik both shook their heads in unison.

"Alright then, it's up to you guys."

At least with these three, Mike didn't have to worry much about their studies. As long as they didn't go off the rails, he'd be fine.

Just then, Mike's phone rang.

He reached for the slightly bulky phone and answered the call.

"Hello?"

"Mike!"

"You dialed the wrong number."

With a deadpan expression, Mike hung up the phone and turned it off.

"Dad, who was that?" Charles asked curiously.

"An idiot. Don't worry about it."

"Oh!"

"Come on, let's get to the fish!"

Meanwhile, on an airplane, Nick Fury stared at his phone in disbelief.

"He—he actually hung up on me!"

Furious, he dialed the number again and heard the 'phone off' notification. His face darkened even further.

"Heh-heh!"

A woman dressed in leather sat in the pilot's seat, laughing at Nick Fury's embarrassment without a care in the world.

Nick Fury let out a dry chuckle, then said, "Maybe I dialed the wrong number. Let's go straight there. He'll be very happy to see us."

"Happy?"

The blonde woman ruthlessly punctured Nick Fury's lie. "Really? Not kicked out?"

"Heh, ha ha ha!"

Nick Fury laughed weakly and arrogantly declared, "He'll definitely welcome me! After all, we're old friends."

Pausing for a moment, he looked at the woman earnestly. "Trust me, Furse."

Furse waved her hand and said, "Do whatever you want, as long as the person you're looking for can actually help me."

Nick Fury chuckled, saying, "Don't worry. He can definitely help you. He's the most extraordinary person I've ever met."

Mike's various abilities had left a deep impression on him. Not only that, but Mike was also acquainted with high-ranking members of S.H.I.E.L.D., making him the perfect person to turn to for assistance.

After speaking, Nick glanced at Furse cautiously. When he saw that she was focused on the road ahead, he quietly let out a sigh of relief.

This woman had dropped from the sky and crashed into a video store. When he and his rookie partner had gone to investigate, if it hadn't been for her pulling him out of harm's way, he would have been killed by aliens.

Not long after, his rookie partner was quietly replaced by a green-skinned alien. If it weren't for Nick's quick reflexes, he would have been killed again.

He had watched his rookie partner transform into a green-skinned alien before his eyes.

He swore that if he hadn't encountered similar abilities before, he would have screamed just like a woman experiencing something for the first time.

Afterwards, he had tracked Furse for a while, and they finally came to an agreement.

He helped her gather some past records, while she assisted him in dealing with the Skrulls—green-skinned aliens who were infiltrating Earth.

Skrulls could take the form of anyone and even briefly mimic their memories, making them incredibly difficult to deal with.

Given these circumstances, Nick Fury couldn't afford to trust just anyone.

"Hey, Fury," Furse suddenly asked. "What happened at the Air Force base?"

Before they had called Mike, they had visited Vandenberg Air Force Base to check some files.

The base had been severely damaged in a battle with the Black Emperor two years ago and was still closed for reconstruction.

Although access was restricted, they had snuck in. Unfortunately, aside from an orange cat that had secretly followed them out, they found nothing.

The files they were searching for, related to the Pegasus Project, were likely destroyed, or if they still existed, they had been moved to a new location unknown to Nick Fury.

Not only that, but while searching for the files, they had also been pursued by a Skrull who had assumed the form of Nick Fury's superior.

Fortunately, Furse had stepped in heroically and helped Nick escape the base by plane.

Hearing Furse's question about Vandenberg Air Force Base, Nick Fury replied, "It was destroyed in a massive battle two years ago."

"Battle?"

A look of curiosity appeared on Furse's face.

Nick Fury glanced at her and said, "Don't think your abilities are so impressive. There are plenty of people on Earth who are stronger than you."

"Oh?" Furse raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical.

Her abilities were unique, even among the Kree.

Stronger than her? On this backward C-53 planet?

Nick Fury countered, "Don't believe me?"

"Ah, you saw right through me. My bad."

Nick Fury looked at Furse with a skeptical expression, noticing her cheerful demeanor. "You don't look the least bit apologetic."

"Your powers of observation are sharp."

Furse smiled as she watched Nick Fury roll his eyes, then casually remarked, "Come on, tell me about that battle from two years ago."

Since they had nothing else to do, listening to a story would be a good way to pass the time.

Nick Fury's expression brightened as he began to speak with nostalgic excitement. "Two years ago, I led our Thunder Strike team..."

He proceeded to tell the story, but in this version, he was the hero—destroying mutants with one punch and triumphantly stepping on the Black Emperor.

"Heh-heh!"

Furse laughed, clearly treating Nick Fury's version of events as nothing more than a story.

When the story ended, Nick Fury was left feeling somewhat unfulfilled.

"Meow."

At that moment, an orange cat wearing a collar climbed from the backseat and snuggled into Furse's arms.

Nick Fury's eyes lit up. "Gugu, such a cute little kitty, come here!"

The orange cat, named Gugu, rolled around in Furse's arms, completely ignoring Nick Fury's calls. Furse gently lifted the cat and placed it in Nick Fury's lap.

Nick Fury chuckled as he playfully teased the cat, exclaiming how adorable it was.
