At this point, the battle between Iron Man and Captain America had reached a fever pitch.

The attacks from both sides grew increasingly fierce, and more and more S.H.I.E.L.D. agents gathered to watch.

"How is Captain America's shield so durable? It can withstand bullets, lasers, even missiles," one agent muttered in awe as he observed the shield's unyielding defense.

A newer agent, fresh to S.H.I.E.L.D., was even more excited. Having grown up hearing stories about Captain America, this was the first time he had seen the legendary hero in person—and witness him fight Iron Man live.

He eagerly pulled out his phone and started snapping pictures, desperate to capture the moment.

Nearby, an agent with a business mindset spotted an opportunity. He quickly set up an impromptu betting market and shouted, "Place your bets! Odds are 2 to 1 for Iron Man, even money for Captain America! Cash only—don't miss out!"

"Me! Me! 100 on Captain America!" came a shout as agents eagerly wagered.

"One at a time, don't rush!" the betting agent grinned as he eagerly collected cash, already imagining the profits.

Suddenly, a cough sounded in his ear. The agent looked up to see Hawkeye standing there, frowning deeply.

Hawkeye and Natasha Romanoff had just received a message from Director Fury and rushed downstairs to try to stop the fight between Steve and Tony.

As Hawkeye stepped into the crowd, he spotted the gambling agents and scowled with displeasure.

This was outrageous!

What happened to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s discipline and ethics?

Most importantly—how could they gamble with this man around?

"Confiscate everything!" Hawkeye barked.

He snatched the cash from the agents, scolding them harshly: "You're just standing around watching because you haven't trained enough? Now get moving—train harder!"

"I didn't take the money! Don't you know gambling's forbidden in S.H.I.E.L.D.?" one agent protested weakly.

Without a word, Hawkeye pocketed the cash with a serious expression.

Scolded and embarrassed, the agents quickly scattered, knowing better than to cross Hawkeye.

Watching them disperse, Hawkeye allowed himself a small smile, thinking about the gifts he could buy for his kids with the confiscated money.

Meanwhile, Natasha was in no mood to concern herself with the gamblers. She strode straight out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. building, determined to stop the escalating fight between Tony and Steve.

At first, Natasha hadn't believed the reports of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark fighting. Having worked undercover with Tony, she understood his sharp tongue but knew that deep down, he was a decent man.

And Steve, that old war hero, had a close bond with Tony's late father, Howard Stark. In Natasha's eyes, there should be no cause for conflict between them.

She thought there must be some misunderstanding—after all, the Avengers wanted Tony to join. It was unthinkable for them to be at odds like this.

But when she stepped outside, she was stunned.

The battlefield was a wreck—ground shattered beyond recognition by the fierce duel between Iron Man and Captain America.

Steve's uniform was torn to shreds, covered in dust and blood, while Tony's armor was dented and cracked, parts of its inner machinery exposed.

Though both were exhausted, neither showed signs of stopping; they fought as if determined to annihilate each other.

Natasha quickly rushed between them and stretched out her hands. "Stop—both of you, stop fighting!" Her voice rang across the battlefield—slightly weak but full of resolve.

Steve froze at her words, turning toward her with confusion and surprise in his eyes.

Tony hovered mid-air, right hand raised and aimed at Steve, but his gaze shifted to Natasha.

"I don't want to fight," Tony said deeply. "Hand over Bucky's body. Once I have it, I'm gone."

Natasha's face twisted in confusion.

Bucky's body?

She didn't understand why Tony wanted Bucky's corpse, nor how he knew it was in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s custody.

But she finally grasped the reason behind Tony and Steve's clash—it all boiled down to a dead man.

This struck Natasha as absurd. Two living men fighting over a corpse was ridiculous. Yet she knew the priority was to stop this pointless battle before it spiraled further.

As Natasha moved to persuade Tony again, Steve responded first.

Hearing Tony's demand to take Bucky's body, Steve's anger flared anew despite moments of calm.

Impossible!

No one could take away his friend's remains.

Maybe it was guilt that drove Steve—he blamed himself for not being there when Bucky died. If only he had been present, maybe Bucky would still be alive.

This obsession with protecting Bucky's body consumed Steve.

"There's no way we're handing over Bucky's body," Steve said coldly, voice resolute.

"That means there's nothing left to discuss," Tony replied, shooting a laser blast at Steve with his armored hand.

The battle erupted again, more violent than before, the attacks spreading wider and even threatening Natasha standing between them.

Watching the chaos unfold, Natasha's feelings were conflicted.

She knew her words no longer mattered—Tony and Steve were trapped in an emotional storm, unable to break free.

Desperate, she gave up on immediate persuasion and retreated swiftly to the S.H.I.E.L.D. building to seek other solutions.

At that moment, Director Fury's voice crackled in her earpiece: "Natasha, you and Hawkeye go help Steve. Don't let Tony cause havoc outside the S.H.I.E.L.D. base."

Nick Fury had already arrived while Natasha was trying to intervene. He hadn't expected Tony to be so insolent.

Originally, Fury intended not to hold Tony accountable for the incident—out of respect for Tony's father, if Tony agreed to stand down.

But Tony's blatant disrespect and his making a scene on a crucial military base left Fury no choice.

If Tony stormed out of S.H.I.E.L.D. like this, Fury knew politicians and military officials would ridicule the agency the next day.

Was Fury even fit to be S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director?

More importantly, Fury held a strict principle: whatever entered his territory belonged to him.

Even if it was a corpse, no one could take advantage.

That was why Fury was so furious—and so determined to stop Tony.

Without hesitation, Natasha obeyed Fury's order. She knew the only way to end this farce was to defeat Tony.

After all, Steve was her own team.

Together, Natasha and Hawkeye joined Captain America to assault Tony.

The combined assault from the three put unprecedented pressure on Tony. While fending off their attacks, he cursed Captain America inwardly for calling in reinforcements.

Damn it—if you can't beat them, just call for backup!
