Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 171: Slick Moves (Long Chapter)_4

Luke retorted, "You think you are a vampire."

"This question is complicated. What I can give you a definite answer to is that I want to become a vampire.

I want to become a real vampire."

"If you are not sure whether you are a vampire, why did you give Angela the First Embrace? And why choose that night? Don't you think that time, that place, that setting was too hasty?"

"Because that night I thought I had gained the real power of a vampire and had become a real vampire, qualified to give Angela the First Embrace."

"Why would you think that?"

"Because I drank the Holy Blood, I could feel power coursing through my body, a kind of power I had never experienced before, making me feel like a real vampire. It was truly an amazing feeling.

After gaining this power, the first thing I wanted to do was share it with Angela."

At the time, Angela was backstage, and I mustered the courage to go find her, overhearing her argument with her agent."

Just like you said earlier, Angela didn't believe in vampires.

She was tired of pretending to be a fake vampire and even contemplated giving up her music career and no longer releasing vampire-themed albums because of it."

Angela's words were a huge blow to me. I always thought she understood me. I always saw her as the Vampire Queen.

All that was beautiful crumbled in that moment.

I didn't want to give up, I wanted to change Angela's mind.

To tell her that there are vampires in this world. That I had gained the strength of a vampire.

I could give her the First Embrace.

Allow her to become a real vampire as well."

So after her agent Jinmu left, I entered the dressing room."

At this point, Kafro showed a look of reminiscence, and said with deep emotion, "

"She recognized me.

That made me a bit excited, a bit comforted, but more than anything, it made me sad. I told her to hold on to her dreams, to believe that vampires exist in this world.

Nonetheless, she was unmoved and told me it was all fake, and that she no longer wanted to deceive her fans."

I told Angela that I had acquired the Holy Blood, a substance containing the blood of a real vampire, and that from the Holy Blood, I had gained the power of a vampire.

I was willing to share this power with her, to enable her to also become a true vampire."

At this, Kafro's expression turned to one of pain, "Angela laughed.

At first, I thought it was out of happiness, but then I realized it was a mocking smile.

I asked her why she was laughing, and Angela told me that what I had wasn't Holy Blood, but drugs."

I couldn't accept it and started arguing loudly with Angela.

Angela had also been drinking that night and was very emotional; she said a lot of bad things about vampires, belittled herself, belittled vampires, belittled her music."

Though she didn't directly blame me, by belittling these things, she completely negated me."

Kafro clenched his fists, looking somewhat agitated, "I was angry. This wasn't the Angela I knew, not the true Vampire Queen.

The Vampire Queen in my heart was already dead.

I wanted to change her, to make her my First Embrace."

Kafro slowly opened his mouth, revealing two sharp fangs, and said with a sad tone, "So I bit her, sucked her blood, and marked her with the pattern for the First Embrace ritual.

Just when I was about to let her drink my blood to complete the First Embrace ritual, I found that she had no breath left."

Little Black stepped forward, staring at Kafro's mouth, "Aren't your fang caps taken off?"

In the midst of speaking, Little Black attempted to pry off Kafro's fangs.

"Hey, what are you doing? You rude black egg. Those are my teeth." Kafro turned his head away, spitting out some saliva with a look of disgust.

Little Black exclaimed in surprise, "I can't pull them out."

"Fuck! Those are my teeth." Kafro bared his mouth again, showing the sharp fangs.

"OMG, OMG, his fangs are real! They aren't caps!" Little Black was stunned.

"Country bumpkin." Kafro said with some disdain.

Luke wasn't very interested; it was nothing more than wearing false teeth.

Kafro's recount of the case largely matched his own speculation.

Luke signaled Little Black to come back and shifted the conversation to another point of doubt, "Kafro, where did you get the Holy Blood from?"

"It was Darcy who sold it to me."

"After realizing you were deceived, you found Darcy and killed him, didn't you?"

"I didn't harm Darcy. I just wanted to find him and ask what Holy Blood really was,

how it was made,

whether it was vampire blood or, as Angela said, Holy Blood contained no vampire power but was laced with drugs instead.

This was very important to me, extremely important!"

Kafro took a deep breath, his tone becoming grave,

"I started looking for Darcy. I needed to figure this out, otherwise, Angela's death would be meaningless.

I searched all the vampire fan spots in Los Angeles and finally found Darcy.

I coerced him into telling the truth and making him take me to where Holy Blood was manufactured.

Then Darcy drove me to a farm.

He told me that was where Holy Blood was made.

Not long after we entered the farm, we were discovered by the guards, who even shot at me, injuring my arm.

The pain of the gunshot wound instinctively made me want to run away.

Later, I found a backstreet clinic to treat the gunshot wound.

That's what happened."

Luke pressed, "You didn't kill Darcy?"

"No."

"Why was Darcy making Holy Blood at the farm?"

"He said the place was secluded and less likely to be discovered by the police."

"Did he ever tell you how Holy Blood was made?"

"I asked, but he said he didn't know. He was only responsible for selling the product. There were specific people in the farm who made Holy Blood."

"Describe the appearance of the farm guard."

"It was somewhat dark at the time, I only know he was Caucasian. By the sound of his voice, he seemed to be on the older side. Seemed like he was wearing a cowboy hat too."

Through Kafro's account, an image of the farm owner Jefferson began to form in Luke's mind.

"Do you think he was Darcy's accomplice or that he mistook you and Darcy for thieves?"

"He must have been Darcy's accomplice, as he only shot at me and didn't shoot at Darcy at all."

Luke noted down in his notebook, "Have you been to a cliff near the farm?"

"No, I am completely unfamiliar with the area, and I didn't even know there was a cliff."

Luke believed this statement somewhat; the cliff was extremely remote, and not easy for an outsider to find.

Even if stumbled upon once, it would be hard to locate again on a second visit, so it was more likely that a local person would dispose of a body there.

If Kafro's words were true, then the remaining doubts in the case all concentrated on the farm owner Jefferson.

As for the farm being the place where Holy Blood was produced, Luke thought it was highly likely. He reviewed Darcy's records of purchasing blood plasma.

He bought 10 liters of blood plasma in January.

He bought 20 liters in February.

He bought 25 liters in March.

He bought 30 liters in April.

He bought 10 liters in May.

The purchases from January to April were increasing, indicating Darcy's business was booming, and more people were buying blood plasma.

The sudden decrease in May could mean a new competitor entered the market, reducing his market share,

or that he found a new source for blood plasma.

It seems it was the latter; apart from the ten liters of human blood, the rest of Holy Blood was made from cow blood, which was cheaper and safer.

If the substitution didn't affect sales, it was possible cow blood would be used from thereon.

Unfortunately, before Darcy could implement his plan, he was killed.
