Chapter 227: Authority
The ring still belonged to Aliath in her eyes. It was only right for the ring to return to the bloodline.
"Silly me. My thoughts keep drifting off for no reason. Maybe I'm getting old." She scratched the back of her head and smiled innocently, clearly trying to hide the grief behind her fake smile.
"You're not old. You look only a few years older than me," Elias said, despite having seen her real age during the analysis already.
"Hahaha. Look at you, being so smooth at your age. If only your brother had the same trait. He wouldn't have been so grumpy most of the time."
Elias could see that the girl truly loved his brother. Almost every other sentence of hers resolved around his brother, irrespective of the pain that his memories might have brought her.
"Where do you reside currently?" She asked while bringing out a communication stone. "I will make arrangements for you to be shifted to my residence."
She activated the communication stone, and contracted the Administrative Department to make arrangements for Elias's transfer to the core area.
"What? You need me to come there personally for that?" Ophilia frowned at the response. "Can't you just forget my energy signature for the permission? Can't you just use my authority to arrange it? It sounds like a hassle to come there personally."
"Urgh, fine. I will be there." The stone disappeared from Ophilia's hands when she finished the conversation.
"It looks like I need to be there personally since it involves a descendant of a founding family. They need my energy signature. But it's fine. I'll send someone to your residence when the preparations are complete."
She looked hesitant about leaving Elias, but if she didn't leave fast, then it was going to take longer to make arrangements.
"Wait for me. It won't take long." She pinched his cheeks one last time before walking away.
Not only did she want to arrange for all the permission, but also make preparations in her residence, which was quite messy as she lived alone.
Unlike what Freya had done, she didn't want to assign a separate residence for her disciple. She wanted him to live with her, as she had a grand residence in the core area. That way, she could protect him from the influence of his family as well.
Elias watched her disappear into the distance, and glanced back at the ring. He felt a little relieved that she had finally left him alone, but he also felt a little sad that he had to leave without telling her.
He was leaving the Academy. If he told her, he was sure that she would have found a way to make him stay behind, even if it meant going against the Dean's words.
If he stayed behind, it was indeed safer for him. But safety wasn't the only thing that mattered to him. He did need to make preparations outside, even if it was a little dangerous.
With the ring of the second life of his finger, he felt even more confident about his plans. Even if he somehow suffered through the instant death curse of that girl, he could at least return to life.
He thought he had already finished all the preparations already, but the ring made things even better.
Meanwhile, on the ground floor, the Librarian kept suggesting various books to Elias who hadn't even moved an inch.
When the Librarian was almost about to give up, he finally reacted, "I will check the books myself."
He went to the stairs, and the Shadow Guards followed him once more. However, this time he didn't let them follow him. He told them to stay on the ground floor, no matter the case.
"You guys bring too much unnecessary attention. Just stay here. I'll be right back." He stepped on the stairs before glancing back one more time.
"Oh, and if I caught even one of you following me secretly, then things might get really messy for you, even if you're from the shadow pavilion."
He raised his hand, and blue flames flickered around his fist as a warning. "It's not as if anyone in this library can hurt me with these flames around. So just relax a little, and stop being so stiff."
He quickly ran up the stairs while the guards looked at each other. They discussed amongst themselves if they really should listen to Elias, or follow him secretly. In the end, they gave up on following him.
They waited on the ground floor for the young boy to return.
Elias kept running up the stairs until he reached the third floor. But he didn't go to check any books. Instead, he walked inside the washroom that was arranged for students who spent days inside the library, immersed in reading.
Inside the washroom, his other self was always waiting for him, ensuring that no one else was there. They closed the door, and started taking off their clothes.
They quickly switched their clothes, along with all the accessories. The earrings went from the main body who had been pretending to be Kaelen, to the secondary body which was taking that identity now.
Even though his secondary body couldn't really use the ice phoenix flames to the extent as the main body, it wasn't as if he was going to be fighting while secluding within his mansion in the core region.
The main body cancelled the body transformation, and returned to his real face. The secondary body also did the same, and took Kaelen's face.
Elias took the ring of second life that was given by Ophilia, and Kaelen took the cross shaped earring, wearing it around his ears.
"We are not forgetting anything, are we?" The two bodies asked at the same time, checking their pockets as well. "Doesn't seem to be that way."
They checked each other's state and only after confirming that there was nothing wrong, they left the washroom.
Elias left first, and went downstairs. He was able to walk past the shadow guards, without raising any suspicions. A few minutes later, 'Kaelen', also arrived while holding a book in his hand.
The switch had been completed successfully.
