Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Yamato Is Shocked! He Feels Ashamed of Himself!
But today's performance should be okay.
Naruto walked up to Morkel and joked, "Morkel, ever since you came to your senses, Iruka-sensei has been very busy."
Morkel thought about it for a moment and realized it was true, so he burst into laughter.
An hour later, Iruka-sensei finally returned.
As expected, Morkel, the instigator, was called to the office for a scolding.
"That man is fine now. Fortunately, his injuries weren't serious. The doctor has already bandaged him up..."
"But you, kid, never throw things outside the school walls again..."
Iruka lectured sternly.
Morkel nodded. "But, teacher, you asked me to demonstrate the Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique..."
Iruka's glare intensified. "Did I ask you to throw hundreds of shurikens at people?!"
Morkel knew he had no excuse and wisely shut his mouth.
For the rest of the day, Morkel could feel Iruka's eyes on him while he taught.
To avoid further trouble, Morkel decided to lay low, lying on his desk and pretending to sleep during class to avoid making eye contact.
Being a ninja was really not easy!
Soon, the day's classes came to an end.
Iruka-sensei didn't explain what the next day's test would be but spoke seriously to the class.
"Tomorrow, we will start learning more about ninja knowledge..."
"In addition to the three basic auxiliary ninjutsu—Clone Technique, Transformation Technique, and Body Replacement Technique—the final exam will have a significant written portion."
"This is important. Whether you can graduate from the Academy and become a real ninja depends entirely on this exam. Everyone, go home and prepare well."
Morkel and Naruto nodded before heading home.
—
That night, as usual, Morkel and Naruto met up to practice ninjutsu.
As Morkel trained, he noticed a shadowy figure lurking nearby, just like the previous night.
The figure crouched on a wall, hesitating.
"Who are you?" Morkel asked.
"Huh? Morkel, who are you talking to?" Naruto asked, confused.
Morkel stayed serious, suspecting the figure to be one of the Third Hokage's men. Their actions were too secretive.
"It's nothing," Morkel replied. "Maybe I saw something wrong. I'll step out for a bit."
Naruto scratched his head as Morkel left.
"Why has Morkel been acting so sneaky lately?"
Once outside, Morkel confronted the masked Anbu member.
He immediately recognized the familiar chakra—the same one he had injured with his Wind Style Shuriken the night before.
Morkel felt uneasy.
Could this guy be here for revenge?
"Master Anbu, what's the matter? Did the Third Hokage send you?" Morkel asked.
"Yes," the masked figure responded reluctantly.
Morkel now knew the man was part of Anbu. But what did the Hokage want?
The man sighed before continuing, "Actually, the reason I was here yesterday and today is the same. The Third Hokage wanted me to teach you some special ninjutsu."
Morkel's eyes lit up.
Was the Hokage finally acknowledging his potential? Was he going to receive special training?
"What kind of jutsu?" Morkel asked eagerly.
The Anbu member, Yamato, looked pleased with Morkel's enthusiasm. This was more like how a kid his age should act—not like the overconfident student who had created his own Wind Style Shuriken the day before.
"Wood Style is a unique secret technique of the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama," Yamato explained. "It is a bloodline limit that combines earth and water attributes to create living wood from chakra."
"The First Hokage used it to tame the tailed beasts and bring peace to the world."
Morkel listened attentively before asking, "So the Third Hokage wants me to learn Wood Style?"
"That's correct."
Morkel hesitated for a moment. "But you just said Wood Style is a bloodline limit. Can I really learn it?"
Yamato nodded. "If the Hokage sent me to teach you, it means you have the potential to learn it. You just need to focus."
Then Yamato continued, "Let me introduce myself. My name is Yamato, and I will be your instructor from now on."
"Today, I will give you your first lesson—to experience the essence of Wood Style..."
Yamato clasped his hands together. "Follow me. Release water chakra from your left hand and earth chakra from your right."
Morkel followed his instructions, closing his eyes.
"Now, inject the seeds of vitality into the 'water' and 'earth,'" Yamato continued. "This will allow the Wood Style to manifest."
Morkel did as he was told, and soon, he felt something growing in his palms.
"Teacher, I think I feel something," Morkel said.
Yamato's eyes widened in surprise. He had expected Morkel to struggle, but the boy was sensing the chakra already!
"What do you feel?" Yamato asked.
"A blade of grass?" Morkel said uncertainly.
Yamato nodded in approval. This was impressive progress—being able to sense Wood Style so quickly.
"Teacher, this grass feels a bit heavy. I can't lift it..."
Yamato frowned. "It's just a blade of grass. How heavy could it be? Come on, lift it."
"No, teacher," Morkel said hesitantly. "I think it's a little too big..."
"Just lift it up," Yamato insisted. "How heavy can a tiny plant be?"
But as he opened his eyes, his breath caught in his throat.
His pupils dilated, and he clutched his chest in shock.
"WHAT?!"
Morkel opened his eyes and looked at his palms.
There, instead of a small blade of grass, stood a massive tree—thicker than a water tank and towering dozens of meters high!
Yamato was speechless.
"This... this is the little grass you mentioned?!"
Yamato repeated the question, his voice shaking.
"It really was just a small sapling at first," Morkel chuckled. "But then it grew bigger."
Yamato stared up at the massive tree and felt a wave of humiliation wash over him.
It was like standing next to someone at a urinal—one had a mere trickle, while the other had a full-blown waterfall.
The contrast was too strong!
A deep sense of shame settled over him.
