Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Morkel's Ninjutsu! Shock!

"He seems to have used a summoning technique," Kakashi muttered, his visible eye twitching.

Who taught this kid how to summon creatures?

Was this even part of the academy curriculum?

At that moment, Morkel descended from the sky, landing gracefully on the back of his newly bonded eagle.

"How was that?" he asked, a proud smirk on his face.

After taking a moment to compose himself, Kakashi said sternly, "Don't pull stunts like that again. What if something had gone wrong?"

"Got it, sensei!" Morkel nodded obediently, but the mischievous glint in his eyes hinted otherwise.

However, a new problem arose. The eagle, though large, could only carry one or two people at most. Their team had five, including Dazna.

In the end, they had no choice but to continue on foot. Morkel suggested sending one person ahead with Dazna, but Kakashi firmly rejected the idea, citing safety concerns.

As they trudged forward, Morkel scanned his surroundings, hoping to find another suitable mount that could carry all of them. But despite his efforts, the path remained devoid of any large animals.

Just then, Morkel furrowed his brow. "The weather's been clear, so why is there water on the ground?"

"Maybe it rained a couple of days ago," Naruto responded absentmindedly.

Morkel frowned. The road wasn't muddy, just a single puddle in the middle of the path. Something was off.

Before he could analyze further, a familiar, unsettling chakra fluctuation sent shivers down his spine.

He heard the sound of chains clinking. His eyes widened in alarm.

"Be careful!" he shouted, but it was too late.

Two masked figures shot out from the undergrowth, dragging barbed chains that ensnared Kakashi in an instant.

Naruto, closest to Kakashi, stood frozen in shock as their teacher was torn apart before his very eyes.

"Sensei!" he cried out.

But Morkel didn't freeze. In a split second, he flung a shuriken.

"Swish!"

The weapon split midair, multiplying into a storm of deadly steel.

"Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu?!" one of the masked attackers gasped, swinging their chains to deflect the incoming barrage.

"Clang! Clang! Clang!"

The projectiles ricocheted harmlessly away, but Morkel had achieved his goal.

While the enemy focused on deflecting the attack, Sasuke seized the opportunity to yank Naruto out of harm's way.

Morkel landed beside them, his hands forming a series of seals.

He took a deep breath, chakra surging through his body.

"Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!"

A roaring stream of fire erupted from his mouth, shaping into a serpentine dragon as it surged toward the enemy.

"Whoa!" Naruto stumbled back, feeling the scorching heat on his face even from a distance.

The two masked ninja barely had time to react before the fiery dragon engulfed them.

The ground trembled as flames roared, leaving behind a smoldering crater.

When the fire cleared, two charred figures lay motionless in the scorched earth.

Naruto and Sasuke stood dumbfounded.

"That... that was insane!" Naruto exclaimed. "How did you do that?!"

Morkel wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead. "I just focused my chakra properly."

Kakashi reappeared from the shadows, dusting off his clothes.

Naruto gawked. "You're alive?!"

"Of course," Kakashi said nonchalantly. "That was just a substitution technique."

Then, he turned his attention to Morkel. His visible eye narrowed.

He had seen Fire Style techniques before, but the raw power of Morkel's attack was on another level.

A simple C-rank jutsu shouldn't have caused such devastation.

Morkel's technique had left a massive crater in the road and even ignited parts of the nearby forest.

Kakashi exhaled slowly, running a hand over his singed mask.

"You burned my eyebrows off…" he muttered under his breath before focusing back on the team. "Morkel, that was reckless."

Morkel's triumphant expression wavered. "But—"

"No buts! You could've started a wildfire!" Kakashi scolded, knocking him on the head.

"Ouch! Okay, okay, I get it!" Morkel winced, rubbing the sore spot.

Dazna, who had been silent until now, let out a nervous chuckle. "Well, I take back what I said about you kids being weak."

Kakashi sighed, his attention shifting to the growing flames in the nearby trees.

"Great. Now we have another problem," he muttered.

Morkel gulped. "I can fix it!"

Before anyone could respond, he made rapid hand seals.

"Water Style: Waterfall Jutsu!"

A massive wave of water surged from his mouth, dousing the spreading flames in an instant.

Sasuke, Naruto, and even Kakashi stared at him, stunned.

Kakashi had barely begun forming seals for his own water technique, yet Morkel had already finished his.

Naruto's jaw dropped. "You can use Fire Style AND Water Style?!"

"You're full of surprises, kid," Dazna muttered, still eyeing the now-drenched forest in disbelief.

Kakashi exhaled, rubbing his temples. "Alright, let's move before anything else happens."

As they continued their journey, Naruto glanced at Morkel. "Hey, teach me that!"

Morkel smirked. "Maybe when you can actually focus during training."

Naruto grumbled, but Sasuke remained silent, deep in thought.

Morkel was strong—stronger than he had initially thought.

And Sasuke wasn't about to fall behind.

Unbeknownst to them, a shadowy figure watched from a distance, eyes narrowing.

"Interesting…"

The journey to the Land of Waves had only just begun, but it was already proving far more dangerous than anticipated.
