Chapter 36: A Date With Dr. Fu (4)
“What do you want me to say?”
Ji Qingying choked and became speechless for a while. “You can say whatever you want.”
Fu Yanzhi raised his head.
“Oh. I don’t know what to say.”
Ji Qingying was again stumped for words.
Then it was quiet for a while.
Fu Yanzhi looked at her and said, “There are snacks and water behind you.”
Not expecting that, Ji Qingying looked back.
There was indeed a bag of snacks in the back seat.
She was a little surprised, so she leaned behind her seat to get the bag and placed it on her legs. After opening it, Ji Qingying smiled.
“Am I a child?”
She took out a box of lollipops from the bag, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
After she said that, she rummaged through the bag.
Besides the lollipops there was jelly yogurt and so on.
All the things that a child would like.
Of course, Ji Qingying also liked them very much.
In her bones she had always retained the tastes she had from when she was five years old.
Besides the snacks, Ji Qingying also rummaged through and found a bamboo basket along with a hat from the bag.
She was stunned but she felt that her guess had been right.
“Are we going for a picnic?”
Fu Yanzhi paused for a moment.
“More or less.” Was his reply.
Ji Qingying’s eyebrows rose at that.
It had been a while since she had gone on a picnic. The first reason was that she had no time and the second was because her friends hadn't got together recently.
Last time they agreed that they would go after she gets a prize, but it got delayed because of various reasons so they didn’t mention it anymore.
Ji Qingying chuckled and opened the wrapper of a lollipop.
“Let me try the lollipop first.”
“En.”
The ones Fu Yanzhi had bought for her were of every color under the sun and not ones that could be easily found in the market.
She had eaten them when she was younger, also being one of her favorite treats.
After she had thought about it, she couldn’t help but ask. “Where did you buy this brand?”
They had reached a red light. Fu Yanzhi stepped on the brakes and as he looked at the smile on her face he said, “I just conveniently bought it.”
Ji Qingying smiled and remarked. “Really? What a coincidence.”
She held the lollipop in her hand and told about her preferences.
“This is my favorite brand of lollipop, but now there are only a few available in the stores.”
Fu Yanzhi’s seemed to have a hint of light flash in them showing that he understood what she meant.
Ji Qingying ate the lollipop and leaned back in her chair quietly, occasionally switching her gaze between Fu Yanzhi and the scenery outside the window.
After exiting the city, they took a short highway.
She raised her head but didn’t ask any questions.
By the time they had arrived at their destination, Ji Qingying was already feeling a bit drowsy.
“We’ve arrived?”
After hearing the sound of the car stopping her eyes had opened.
“En.”
Fu Yanzhi looked at her. “Do you want to sleep for a while?”
“No.”
Ji Qingying pushed the car door open and asked as she looked around.
“This is–”
She didn’t get to complete her sentence as she saw a sign not far away.
There was only one sentence written on it.
But instantly, Ji Qingying’s attention was on the last three words.
The Zoo.
Fu Yanzhi wasn’t bringing her for a picnic.
He brought her to a zoo.
Ji Qingying was stunned.
She stared at the words and then turned to stare at him.
Fu Yanzhi raised his head for he had noticed the changes in her mood, and whispered a question. “Do you like going to the zoo?”
Ji Qingying nodded.
Her lips were moving yet it took her quite a while to speak even a single sentence. “How did you think of bringing me here?”
Fu Yanzhi just said “Oh”, and looked at her sideways. “You didn’t want to come here?”
“It is not that.”
Ji Qingying’s eyes were hot and the frailness that had been hidden in them seemed to be exposed immediately in front of him.
She shook her head and whispered back. “I like it very much.”
She looked at Fu Yanzhi once more. “It's just so….. unexpected.”
Fu Yanzhi was silent for a moment then said, “Last time when you were drunk…”
“Your assistant mentioned something.” He continued
Rongxue had visited to talk to him after Ji Qingying had entered Fu Yanzhi’s house.
Said that Ji Qingying wouldn’t make any huge fuss but she might ask around for some sugar.
She even gave a few lollipops to Fu Yanzhi, saying that in case Ji Qingying did make some trouble, he could use that to calm her down.
Of course, that night Ji Qingying hadn’t made a single fuss about eating any candy.
But Fu Yanzhi had already memorized her preferences.
Actually, he wasn’t someone who could remember the trivial details in his life.
In Ye Zhenzhen’s words, sometimes he was so cold and didn't even seem like a normal person.
He would forget Ye Zhenzhen’s birthday and he wouldn’t even remember what his family members liked. Even if they had mentioned it before, Fu Yanzhi would still forget about it.
But in Ji Qingying’s case, it was quite strange.
Fu Yanzhi could remember even the smallest things. He didn’t even need to write it down, he just had to hear it once and it would be printed in his mind.
Ji Qingying was startled.
She suddenly thought about the lollipop she had just had.
There could not be so many coincidences in this world.
If there was.
It must have been planned for by you.
Fu Yanzhi narrowed his gaze and stared straight into her eyes.
He bent his waist and raised his hand. Wiping the corners of her eyes, his voice had softened sounding like he felt helpless.
“Even though you said you are not a child…”
