Chapter 36: A Date With Dr. Fu (3)
His gaze stopped on her face for a moment, then slowly he looked away.
“Have a seat first.”
“Do you need my help with anything?”
“No.”
“I’m almost done.”
Ji Qingying smiled and obediently replied. “Okay.”
Fu Yanzhi had made the breakfast himself.
His time today would belong to Ji Qingying.
This was her reward.
Fu Yanzhi’s homemade breakfast was rice noodles and just by looking at it, it made her feel quite hungry.
The color was appetizing and the fragrance was overflowing.
Ji Qingying’s eyes lit up. She couldn’t help but ask, “Doctor Fu, are you a treasure?”
Fu Yanzhi just cast a light glance at her.
Ji Qingying grabbed the chopsticks that he gave her with a smile in her eyes. “Then I will eat first.”
“En.”
Ji Qingying always knew that Fu Yanzhi was good at cooking.
But this was the first time she was eating rice noodles made by him.
Ji Qingying had constantly been confused about what to eat for breakfast before and currently wasn’t feeling that hungry.
But at that exact moment, she felt her stomach rumble.
She suddenly felt like she could finish up a large bowl of rice noodles.
They sat down facing each other and the living room became quiet.
The smell of the food drifted all around. Even before Ji Qingying began eating, the tip of her nose started to sweat.
She murmured. “It’s so hot.”
Fu Yanzhi got up, closed the windows, and switched on the air conditioner.
The cold wind brought the room temperature much lower than what it was.
Only then did Ji Qingying relax.
As she ate, Ji Qingying suddenly remembered something very immensely important.
“Fu Yanzhi.”
Fu Yanzhi looked at her.
“Where are we going today?”
Fu Yanzhi paused for a while. “For now, it is a secret.”
Ji Qingying: “…”
Her cheeks and lips turned into a pout.
Fu Yanzhi, who had been paying attention to her mood, noticed the change, and his eyes became fixed on her face.
Because of the heat, her fair and translucent cheeks had become blushing red and that pout made them look even more noticeable.
Fu Yanzhi lowered his gaze and looked down.
“By the way.”
“En?”
“Don’t wear a cheongsam.”
Ji Qingying: “…”
She blinked and looked at Fu Yanzhi in disbelief.
“You don’t think a cheongsam looks good?”
Fu Yanzhi: “…It’s not that.”
He explained. “It might not be convenient.”
Her brows rose and she nodded, becoming even more curious about where Fu Yanzhi was planning on taking her.
***
After eating breakfast.
She went back to her house and changed clothes. Ji Qingying didn’t have many outfits when it came to the matter of her summer clothes.
Most of her clothes were just cheongsams, qipaos, and a few sets of casual clothes for spring.
When she went to the haunted house a few days ago she had worn long pants, but right now it was too hot to wear them.
Ji Qingying searched for quite some time before she found a set that looked suitable enough.
After she changed she sent a pic of her outfit to Chen Xinyu who wanted to see what her reaction would be later.
Then she patched up her makeup and packed up her things before heading out.
The moment she stepped outside she saw a guy leaning at the door.
Fu Yanzhi’s clothes made him look like a college student.
His temperament was noble and cold, which was the most suitable for wearing light-colored clothes. Today he was wearing cool and clean clothes making Ji Qingying’s heart skip a beat.
Upon hearing some noise beside him, Fu Yanzhi looked up from his phone’s screen.
When he saw the sight he was stunned.
Ji Qingying had tied her hair in a ponytail and wore a white shirt with three-quarter sleeves and a cream-yellow vest.
She looked dazzling.
Further down the clothes showed her long legs. They were quite fair. Like they were dazzling a little even.
Fu Yanzhi paused and his gaze stuck on her for a moment without him saying anything.
Seeing him being silent, Ji Qingying pursed her lower lip and asked, “Is it not ok to wear something like this?”
She had also changed into denim shorts instead of a pleated skirt.
Fu Yanzhi pulled his eyes away from her legs and looked back at her face again.
“No.”
His tone was calm. “Let’s go.”
“…Okay.”
They headed down and got in his car, and suddenly Ji Qingying’s phone buzzed.
It was from Chen Xinyu’s message bombing.
Chen Xinyu: [???]
Chen Xinyu: [Why are you so gorgeous? You look like a schoolgirl today!]
Chen Xinyu: [My Ji Qingying is really pure, charming, and sweet! Doctor Fu must feel guilty.]
Chen Xinyu: [Wait for me to go online. I will continue blowing rainfarts there!]
[TL: Blowing rainbow farts: Praise someone excessively. Comes from a Chinese meme called the nyancat. ]
Ji Qingying was amused.
She couldn’t help herself as a smile came on and typed a reply back. [Why are you exaggerating?]
Chen Xinyu: [Which part am I exaggerating about? If you don’t believe me you can go and ask Rongxue. Or you can ask Doctor Fu too. I won’t believe him even if Doctor Fu says his mind didn’t wander when he saw you.]
Ji Qingying: […]
Speaking of the truth, it seemed that there certainly was a point to what Chen Xinyu said.
Ji Qingying liked wearing cheongsams too much and almost always had the temperamental beauty of a classical Chinese lady.
So suddenly seeing such a Ji Qingying change her dressing style must have made Dr. Fu’s eyes light up upon seeing her.
A Cheongsam was also pretty but when it was to be compared to the dress she was wearing today, each gave off a different visual sense of beauty.
She stared at her phone for a long time, then tilted her head and looked at Fu Yanzhi.
“Fu Yanzhi.”
Fu Yanzhi answered with a question, “What is it?”
With her bent lips into a smile, she asked purposely, “Did you realize it?”
Fu Yanzhi glanced back at her.
Ji Qingying pinched and tugged on the collar of her white shirt, smiling, “We are wearing the same color today.”
Fu Yanzhi: “…”
“Such a coincidence is called ‘two hearts beating as one’.”
Fu Yanzhi was still silent.
Without relenting Ji Qingying continued to tease him. “Why aren’t you saying anything?”
