Volume 3 Chapter 3
3. Friction
“So strong! Truly so strong. Those overbearing bandits were actually defeated by Miss Mage!”
“Indeed, one cannot judge a book by its cover!”
“Miss Mage, I am the captain of this passenger ship. Please allow me to express my gratitude on behalf of our ship’s crew and the passengers. Thank you for saving us and punishing the criminals.”
The captain bowed slightly to Xia Yi, expressing his gratitude.
And the passengers on the ship were not stingy with their words of praise for Xia Yi… After all, thanks to her actions, they didn’t have to lose any money.
Amidst the joyous atmosphere on the ship, there was only one person who showed a very unhappy expression.
That was Yue Liu.
If she hadn’t used an illusion technique, her nine fox tails would definitely be bristling with anger.
This extremely irritating feeling reminded her of someone—
Her archenemy, Xia Yi · Christie.
Such a deliberately mocking smile was just too similar to those silver dragons full of bad water.
Therefore, she was already getting angry.
She had painstakingly set the atmosphere, used cool lines, all for the sake of using Iai Slash to instantly slay all the bandits, thereby achieving an unexpected contrast that would highlight her coolness despite her seemingly delicate appearance!
But her plan was completely interrupted by this little human mage.
And she was even given a nonsensical nickname.
She really looked down on foxes!
“Are you, perhaps, angry?” Xia Yi laughed. “If I had acted a few seconds later, perhaps everyone would be thanking you instead… But you can’t blame me. The situation was urgent at the time… I’ve never seen a swordsman stand in place charging up for so long without drawing their sword. You’re even more long-winded than a mage.”
“Mmph… Mmph!”
Yue Liu puffed out her cheeks, glaring at Xia Yi standing on the railing, almost ready to pounce and bite her.
She charged up for so long just to look cooler!
Defeating the enemy in one move was the mark of a true master.
“You, you don’t understand, don’t talk nonsense!!”
“It seems your swordsmanship is quite unique, so individualistic—”
“Hm?”
Suddenly, Yue Liu’s expression changed. She discovered a fish that had slipped through the net. One of the bandits had been hiding now suddenly appeared on the high platform, pouncing towards Xia Yi, swinging swinging his broken weapon at her head.
“How dare you attack my boss, I won’t forgive you!!” The bandit roared.
“There was actually one left?”
Xia Yi frowned slightly.
At such a close distance, an ordinary mage might have been in trouble… But she was an exception. An enemy of this level could be easily dealt with by simply swinging her staff.
Swish!
Before Xia Yi could act, a flash of sword struck the bandit.
“Ahhh!!”
Accompanied by the bandit’s miserable scream, his chest burst with blood as he fell onto the deck.
Xia Yi turned her head and saw that Yue Liu had made a move.
“Hmph, you talk big, but you were still careless.”
Yue Liu sheathed her katana with a suave motion.
Her sword had been extremely fast just now. Many passengers hadn’t even reacted when the bandit was defeated. Now, everyone’s gaze towards her had changed somewhat.
“There’s no need for you to do unnecessary things.” Xia Yi replied unhappily.
“No need?” Yue Liu mocked. “If I hadn’t acted just now, you would probably be dead already.”
“I can handle this kind of small fry by myself. He doesn’t pose a threat at all. I don’t need help.” Xia Yi refuted.
Because that was the truth. The bandit just now was not a big deal to her at all.
But Yue Liu sneered. “You’re just a little mage, yet you’re so stubborn?”
“I’m not being stubborn!”
“You are stubborn!”
“I’m not stubborn!” Xia Yi got a bit angry.
“You are stubborn!” Yue Liu insisted on this point.
“I’m not being stubborn, that was nothing!”
“Stubborn, stubborn, stubborn!”
“I’m not, I’m not, I’m not!”
The two girls, under everyone’s watchful eyes, began to bicker like elementary school students, turning into parrots.
This left the people on the ship dumbfounded, all wondering what grudge these two had against each other.
Clang!
The railing next to Xia Yi suddenly broke.
Others might not notice, but this didn’t escape Xia Yi’s eyes.
Yue Liu did it. She had struck out with her sword again just now.
“Oh my, how did my hand slip just now? How careless of me. You’d better not stand up there. Come down!”
Yue Liu said this with her mouth, but her previous action was clearly a warning, meaning… If she really got angry, Xia Yi would be in big trouble.
The veins on Xia Yi’s forehead bulged. How could she tolerate such provocation?
She was the mighty Human Sword Saint. When faced with others’ challenges… She had never backed down. If she did, she wouldn’t be the Human Sword Saint anymore!
She raised her wand, aiming at Yue Liu. Fire began to gather at the tip of the wand, gradually forming into a fire arrow. To maintain the image of a human mage, she also kept pretending, chanting magic incantations.
“O fire elements drifting in the air, lend me your power… Under my command, charge at the enemy and display your raging might—Fire Arrow!”
Xia Yi warned Yue Liu with a feigned voice, “Oh no! Watch out, I pressed the wrong button!!”
Seeing this scene, the passengers fell into panic. They had just witnessed Xia Yi and Yue Liu’s strength and knew that ordinary people like themselves couldn’t intervene.
Everyone left the deck and ran into the cabin, afraid of getting caught up in it.
At the tip of the wand, the blazing fire arrow had gathered, and under Xia Yi’s control, it was launched.
Xia Yi didn’t intend to hit Yue Liu directly either. She planned to detonate it next to her as a warning, just like what the other party had done to her.
“No problem, I pressed the wrong button too!”
Yue Liu didn’t dodge but took the initiative to counter. She drew her katana and unleashed several consecutive sword lights, shattering the fire arrow. At the same time, Sword Qi brushed past Xia Yi, blowing off her magic hat.
“…”
Xia Yi and Yue Liu stared at each other silently. They no longer wanted to continue concealing anything.
The conflict between the two had escalated to a breaking point and could no longer be suppressed.
Now, the two girls glared at each other, with only one thought in mind—
To pin the other party to the ground and rub her hard!
