Invincible: Vilgax

Chapter 5: Necessary Improvements - Part 2

*Vilgax POV*

*Location: Berovia-8, Capital City*

*Date: 5026th Rotation/1981 Earth Year*

Stepping into my ship, I saw just how large it was now when compared to my old one, sure the basics were the same or similiar, but it was much more roomy. I would be more than able to experiment and figure out how to cybernetically alter myself; perhaps some drones would be helpful. It was one of the few things I learned on that planet was programming, more specifically AI.

That was one of the fields this planet had an advantage beyond Earth's own technology, although their medicine sector suffered immensely. I tried my best to help them out, but unfortunately, I wasn't a medical expert by any means, so I only helped improve things a tiny bit, not enough to make an impact, but maybe, just maybe, put them on the right path.

So that's what I did, I knew it would take a while to actually build, but the parts were already there and ready for me to put together. Grabbing the welders, I began putting the pieces and getting the pieces together, which would be enough as the real problem was programming the machine to follow basic commands.

Either way, I went over to the armchair and armed the launch sequence. The process should be seamless, but allow me to begin with the drones. Outside the ship, a countdown sequence began, probably to warn everyone nearby to clear the launch zone. I got the old photo out and looked at my friends, and thought back to the ones I lost, the family I used to have back home, the people who were friends who betrayed me.

All they were was another reason to fight against the Viltrumite threat, so that no one else would have to go through that. I felt the ship shake as my ship was finally launched into space, ready to explore the universe and one particular planet, the one commonly called 'Savage Planet' which would prove to be interesting to study teh local species biology, to see how strong their muscles were/are, how powerful their teeth/skeletons.

It would be interesting to study a specimen alongside a Viltrumite to see the major differences between the two. I knew they would be stronger, but their speed and the Viltrumite's ability to fly were a major advantage for them. While I was by no means a geneticist, if I could find someone or some form of knowledge to splice my own DNA with theirs for improvements beyond cybernetics and magic.

Some way to keep my strength without relying on outside sources, sources that won't be able to ditch me if something interferes with them. Either way, my main problem right now is building the drones and programming the AI. Which was my main priority right now, as I built my machines and made sure they would function properly, I knew I would need to make far more than what I had right now. I could build one machine to do it for me, but I wanted to be sure no mistake would be made, even if a machine were made to do everything perfectly, one single bug or error, so it would be me.

I couldn't do that with myself, though; I would need outside help to slice my body and implant the cybernetic parts. I could check on myself afterward and see if anything went wrong, and then have the drones slice me up again to correct the mistake. But I would need at least two, and the welding would take a while/putting the pieces together and making sure they functioned properly. Then the AI bit, that would take a while to do.

Well, I already started, so hopefully it won't take more than a couple of weeks or a month at most.

*Timeskip: 2 Months*

Two months, two months of wandering the stars and excavating asteroids/meteors/comets, basically anything my ship could get its hands on. I had to test a few prototype drones out, getting a few minor explosions/fires and putting them out as my ship searched for 'Savage Planet', sure there would be no usable material on it, kinda of why I think the Ragnarr are stuck as mindless beasts to be perfectly honest, regardless of that though I do wonder if there are other species on that planet besides those things, things that may be more durable or faster.

Although that in itself took a couple of weeks, no, the real problem was the AI itself; I had to perfectly balance the damn thing so that it wasn't too smart, nor too dumb. It needed to be perfectly balanced so that the damn thing didn't go rogue or make a mistake when it would operate on me. In the end, the drones resembled the battle drones from the OG Ben 10 series, albeit more surgical in nature and less developed for battle, but they would serve their purpose in the end.

Now came the next part, while I did spend the majority of my time on these drones, I did make sure to develop an exoskeleton. One that would increase the strength of my muscle tissue and my body's overall durability. Honestly speaking, though, I was beginning to think I was plagiarizing the original Ben 10 series because I believe once the surgery was done, I would look remarkably similar to the first iteration of Vilgax, stronger, though, if I did my work right.

I activated the drones and lay down on the table, biting down on a piece of leather, knowing full well I didn't have anything to dull the pain beyond this. Both drones loomed over me, their medical instruments out and ready to slice me open with the exoskeleton and any other cybernetic part I would need to improve myself beyond exercise, which, even then, I didn't know if this or that would get me on the level of a Viltrumite. Another reason to test myself using the Ragnarr while they were dumber, it was their strength that I was after.

Intelligence was a key part of any battle; how one thinks and operates can determine whether or not you win, even if your opponent was stronger than you, or even faster, it didn't matter. Right now, my biggest concern was the looming blade that began to slowly slice into me, causing me pain I could never get used to; it was different then the burning sensation I felt both in this life and my last.

The second drone then began slicing into my legs, with the first one focusing on my upper body. I clenched my teeth on the piece of leather in my mouth, as I resisted the urge to scream my mind out, knowing full well this pain would ingrain itself in my mind, and that my own cybernetic parts would cause me pain every day, but if it increased my physical stats to Viltrumite or Ragnarr levels then it would be worth it.

I could feel my drones rearranging my organs and every other body part inside me to make room for the parts, taking out some of the useless stuff or just the stuff that would be replaced.

"RAGGGGGGG!"

It was the only thing I could scream during that time; my body told me to stop whatever was happening, but my mind would not listen as the drones stuffed the cybernetic parts in me. I lost track of time so long ago that I had no idea how long this surgery had been going on.

I could feel the drones attaching everything and putting the proper organs and parts back together or fused to my new exoskeleton. When compared to my death, I think this experience was easily worse, just because I was still alive and awake during my surgery. I could feel bile rising through my throat as the modification was finally finished, and once it was all done and the drones shut down, I took the piece of leather out of my mouth and barfed into the nearest trashcan. I crushed the piece of metal easily, which was a good indicator of my strength.

Before, I had to make some effort to crack concrete, but now I could easily crush metal. I was also visibly bigger than before; my entire body was massive, and while I wasn't any faster, I would need time to get used to my new body. This was still a remarkable improvement in the long run, and even then, I designed my exoskeleton to increase my strength when the four pillars on either side of my arm went down, forcing my body to increase in strength.

Although my clothes had torn in the process, I had a nice new set of armor set aside for this exact scenario. I designed it with the OG series Vilgax in mind, only the armor was all one piece covering up my joints, but still be as flexible. I still went with the red and black color scheme, mostly because that's just how the armor turned out, and it would be perfect to cover up my more sensitive bits.

I began to put the armor on, slowly putting on two pieces of gear that connected to a small port essentially on my back. It was an oxygen tank alongside a red visor made of highly durable glass that could be used to analyze my opponents and identify possible weaknesses. That one I made during my stay with my new friends during my year on Gerod's planet.

It worked somewhat, as it was able to identify the typical weakness of most lifeforms, but for unique ones like people who have mutated or have undergone a procedure of some kind, it had trouble doing so. All this accumulated to a living weapon designed to take down a Viltrumite, aka me.

This would make me my own version of the Unopians, Allen the Alien, Vilgax the Destroyer, and the Avenger. Whether or not this was all enough to take one out was still up in the air, and would take an actual Viltrumite to see if this was enough or a Ragnarr, whichever showed themselves first.

Wait, was Allen the alien born yet? I didn't know what year it was on Earth, nor what year he was actually born in. I mean, even if he was floating around, would he be strong enough to fight yet, and I knew it was well before the show's beginning and before Nolan arrived on Earth. Even then, was it the same dimension that a good Mark Grayson was born in or an Evil variant?

Well, no matter, it would be some time before I could even find Nolan Grayson, as I had a few things to do before I did so. One being to test my new augmentation/battle armor, the second to take back my home planet and bring my people back home, or try to find them anyway if the first part doesn't pan out, and third, make sure none of this ever happens again.

If I were going to become a monster, which I honestly think I would eventually, then I can at least make sure no more are born.
