Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 286 - Newcomers

Just when the emotions of the beast men are starting to calm down, we heard a commotion from the plaza. I heard people running and calling out for others to help. I saw Payton running towards the town hall then he knocked frantically at the door.

I released the barrier to let him in and asked what was happening. He quickly recounted that there were about 30 beast men knocking at the border of the sanctuary. He said that one of the giants said that he remembers the face of one of those people as someone they have saved in the forest about a month ago. He was heavily injured at that time and someone definitely tried to kill him since his wounds don't look like one someone gets due to an accident or a fight with a non-sentient animal. They said that the territory healed him up, fed and clothed him but he chose to still go back to Lyartaim as if ignoring that someone wanted him dead.

I stood up from my seat and teleported right near the borders of the sanctuary. When I appeared, Makisig, Dakila and Yoffir were already there. The cow and sheep elders arrived followed right behind me. Makisig whispered, "This guy is a peacock beast man. We rescued him from an obvious attempted murder but he chose to go back to Lyartaim. I think he went back to take his family out and now he is back to take shelter here after successfully sneaking them out."

Beyond the borders, the peacock beast men looked confused. From the outside, Marahuyo was invisible, but if they touch the barrier, they will be able to see it but not anything from the inside. I can hear the peacock beast man explaining to his family that this is the only place they could safely live in without fear. His family is starting to berate him when the promised place he mentioned was nowhere to be found and the guy started panicking and calling out to the people inside the barrier to let him and his people in.

Payton approached me and pulled a part of my dress. I looked at him confusedly and then he spoke, "They are all members of the peacock tribe. They are foragers. They are tasked to get nuts, fruits and herbs from the forest. They are treated by the territory the same way as the other herbivores. He brought everybody from his tribe back despite of being killed. Can we help them?"

I looked at the cow and sheep beast men who have started to approach the borders and they all nodded their heads at me. They seemed to be vouching for the peacock tribe as someone worthy to be allowed inside the sanctuary.

I looked towards the peacock tribe again and I can see their faces paling by the second. They are starting to feel fear since they seemed to have taken everything they own with them in the guise of a foraging mission by the way they were dressed. I actually admired their planning and execution since they were able to take everybody from their tribe in one go. The man leading them must be the smart mastermind of this escape.

I lifted my hand and the man leading them saw the back of his hand light up with the symbol of Marahuyo. He looked around his tribesmen and saw that their hands are also lighting up one by one. He looked towards the sanctuary again though he couldn't see anything from the inside and kneeled. He then shouted, "Thank you so much! Thank you for saving me before and now my tribesmen too!"

He stood up hurriedly and shouted to everyone, "Run forward to the sanctuary before the guards find out we are missing!" The tribe seemed to have been shaken awake by his loud instructions. With pure faith and determination to live, they looked at the sturdy barrier, closed their eyes and ran forward as fast as they could.

Just as the man leading the group got inside the barrier, a group of five tall and muscular men and women appeared from the direction they were running from. The man looked back and started begging, "I am so sorry! We did not mean to bring trouble and lead them here. I will accept all the punishments!"

The people around us looked at me with worry and fear in their eyes. They know that if Lyartaim, Gollmortha or Freyheimr found out about this sanctuary, they will greedily try to snatch it from us even if it means that they have to kill everyone living inside it. I understand their fear but its not like anybody can force me to their bidding.

I looked up towards the sky and runes started to appear on the inner surface of the barrier. It lighted up for a few seconds then dimmed down. I turned around and walked back to the plaza while giving instructions to Makisig and Dakila to prepare a temporary place for the peacock tribe to stay in while they are deciding where they will be building their homes.

I have walked a dozen steps but nobody seemed to be heeding my instructions. I turned around and watched my people stare at the Lyartaim guards who are now walking towards the surface of the barrier. I patiently waited for them to discover the wonders of this barrier I created.

Suddenly, one of the guards ran forward eliciting screams from the beast men around. As the guard's body touched the barrier, he went through it but he could not see any of us. He simply continued looking forward and even went through some of the people as if we are all just ghosts.

All the people simultaneously looked towards my direction with questioning eyes. I sighed and explained, "Only those that have marks on their hands can come in while only those with clean intentions towards this sanctuary will be able to find it and make the barrier show itself. As for all the others who do not fit these two conditions, they will go through the barrier but will only see the normal trees and plants surrounding this area. The barrier has the ability to place this sanctuary in a different dimension for a period of time when someone unworthy tries to get in. When I said this place is safe, I mean it in every way possible."

I saw the faces of my people smile with relief. They calmed down very quickly knowing that whether I am here or not, I am thinking about their safety. I looked at the peacock beast man who kneeled outside the barrier earlier and asked, "Name?"

He looked at me nervously and replied, "My name is Oran." I smiled at him and said, "You are smart and brave. Your tribe is safe here. Welcome to Marahuyo." With that, I turned and repeated my earlier instructions to Makisig and my father-in-law Dakila on the temporary living arrangements for the peacock beast men. I also gave suggestions of letting them build tree houses in the trees on one side of the sanctuary if they prefer.

After the short list of instructions, I bid everybody a "See you next time". I teleported out of Marahuyo then reappeared in the porch of my private property inside the Noir headquarters. I enjoyed the silence in the area but after a few minutes, I heard the sound of running feet approaching.

Ugh, I forgot that the defense mechanism of this place is really top notch since I made it. It immediately alerted my people of my arrival.

The main gate of the property swung open abruptly and I saw three gorgeous and muscular men running towards my direction. I looked at them with an emotionless face. They immediately stopped a few meters away from where I was and greeted, "Greetings, master!" The three guys are Richard, Chandler and Wylden in their Noir uniform.

I responded, "Hello to you three. You look better than the last time I saw all of you especially Chandler and Wylden. You have more meat in your bodies. Continue to eat well and train under Noir. Any updates on the rescue missions?"

Richard answered immediately, "We have just met with the last three people you have brought in master. Thank you for saving them. As of now, we have successfully saved a total of 17 citizens from our kingdom. Some of them are common citizens while some like the three you brought in, used to work for the government as ministers, staff, soldiers or maids of the palace."

I nodded my head and praised their efforts. Seventeen is not a small number, given that they have to work stealthily while rescuing their people. I may have dealt with the evil in Crimson Kingdom but the Church of Dzetermys which is after the royal family of their fallen kingdom must still be doing everything they can to snatch these three guys. Their parents (the queen and the consorts) are all dead so these three brothers only have each other now.

While thinking about these circumstances and the possible dangers, I threw an earring towards each of them which they skillfully caught. They all looked at me in confusion so I explained, "Those are storage earrings. Once you wear them, they will turn invisible. You can use that to communicate with each other and with me. It is a shared storage with the four of us so I have kept some medicine inside just in case anybody gets hurt. It also has a teleportation option that will bring you back to this place in case you are in danger. You can also bring a maximum of three other people with you during your teleportation which is useful for rescue missions."

They all looked at each other and then hurriedly wore the earrings on their ear with goofy smiles on their faces. They then shouted their thanks happily towards me. Suddenly, I heard a telepathic message entering my brain from the three brothers. They really excitedly tried the communication feature.

Richard said, "Thank you so much for keeping me and my brothers safe." Chandler said in a flirtatious tone, "You are not only very pretty and powerful but also quite generous, master." Wylden being the most reserved of the three simply said, "Thanks a lot."

I smiled at them and then bid my goodbyes telepathically. Their eyes widened in surprise since it was the first time that they heard me using my real voice. I definitely sound way different than the voice I use everyday so I understand their reactions. I smiled and then waved my hand before teleporting away.
