Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1404: Cost

"I don't think that it will be that simple… the dragons are only a part of their forces, after all," Regis said. "We are getting better equipped agaisnt the enemies, but we also should consider other factors like for how long this war will last before choosing the next target."

"What kind of target do you think that we should choose then?" Sealyn asked.

"A place where we can obtain as much information about the enemies as possible would be good…" Regis rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I suppose this kind of place would be heavily guarded, though."

"Indeed… what do you think about this, Dad?" Sealyn asked after turning to the side. "What kind of targets can we attack considering those options as well?"

"I guess it might be the right time to spearhead through the enemy's lines with a powerful attack and use such a place to head further in their territory," Rain said. "According to the data that we have, there is a place on the limits of our knowledge that fit all of those criteria… it is a bit further away from any places that we have been.

It has a high concentration of troops as well and first dragons that come and go pretty often. I would guess that if the enemies' territories have three layers, this would be on the innermost part of the second."

Everyone went silent after hearing that… that would be a real declaration of war agaisnt the machine gods, and after that, there wouldn't be a turning back. If they make that choice, they would need to accept the results until the very end.

Despite the risks, no one seemed particularly agaisnt the idea of launching that kind of attack… maybe they were getting overconfident, but it was hard to say. Maybe they had rested for long enough, and they needed to release all the extra energy.

"If no one is against it or has anything to say about it, then we will start drawing the plan to launch this attack," Sealyn declared. "We will need to split our forces into the groups that will fight the dragons and those who will fight the other enemies to make things as efficient as possible."

"According to the information we have, this target also has one relic stored… I find it difficult to believe that they moved this relic since it is so deep in their territory," Rain added. "At the same time, the target is surrounded by several space stations filled with dark sentinels and first dragons.

Their numbers, according to the last information, ranged around between fifty thousand dark sentinels and then thousand first dragons."

That was a large enough number to keep everyone busy, at least the ones that could go and already had the weapons to face those beasts. Considering the number of dragons and how many experiences they give as well, the dragon slayer path probably will reach level fifty for everyone.

"We might get surrounded, so we will have to make sure that it won't happen," Sealyn said. "To achieve that, we will send groups to each of their space stations while the main group will fight the first dragons and then steal the data that we need. Those kinds of operations will need to be put at a fair distance from each other. So, we can't afford to fail."

Everyone nodded, and then they began to work on the fine details of the plan. Aside from the target, they had to deal with four space stations, so they would have to split into five groups to deal with all of them. Splitting the groups evenly was a bit difficult, thanks to that since everyone wanted to get stronger by fighting the first dragons.

As usual, Rain was in the main group since he would work with Sakaki to steal as much information as possible, and for now, he was the only member of it.

"While I certainly have gotten stronger… why are the skills still so far away from the level one thousand when the Final Battle against the machine gods is fast approaching?" Rain thought while scowling. "This gives me a bad feeling…"

While trying to ignore that annoying feeling bothering him, Rain began to use the information path as much as possible. While the skills there were at a low level, he still made some progress, and quite fast, thanks to his high intelligence, which made his analyzing skills more powerful.

That path was quite interesting too… for example, when Rain tried to analyze some weapons, he would obtain the information of how some weapons were used in many types of situations. The skills related to the weapons would also level up.

However, he would get even more experience when he analyzed simple weapons that were only used for training, even though their quality was poor and they were never used in real battle.

The reason for that was the fact that those weapons had tons of information regarding training the fundamentals of all kinds of techniques… as such, Rain's fundaments were improving, but they came with a cost.

The skill archery leveled up.

The skill archery leveled up.

The skill archery leveled up.

"This is quite fun…" Rain said and then sniffed when his nose felt itchy, and then he felt a weird smell.

Rain checked his nose… and then saw blood dripping from it.
