Chapter 1403: The next goal
Dragons' spirits remained for a while, thanks to the fact that they lived longer and had more mana as well… while human spirits usually would last for two thousand years before becoming part of the planet. Rain wondered why it was that number and if it varied according to the individual...
"They become part of the overseer power… if that is a fine case, does that mean that his strength is on the same level as the entire story of the world?" Rain thought.
That felt like cheating, but it couldn't be helped… since the second generation existed thanks to him as well. The number of spirits inside Rain's pocket dimension was increasing… even though the dragon spirits were used right away. In the end, Rain decided to think more seriously about what he should do with them…
"Bringing them back to life seems like a bad idea… since their original bodies are gone, and while I can make new ones, who knows what kind of issues this will bring," Rain thought.
Talking with all of them was basically impossible as well, so Rain wondered if he should just make them pass away faster… that seemed like the most convenient way for them to contribute to their current goal of survival.
"I feel kind of bad for it… but there are some guys that I won't feel bad for absorbing their knowledge," Rain thought and then teleported to the border of the former human territory.
In that area, Rain found a bunch of areas filled with almost an endless amount of spirits. That was because humans and the magic people fought there for decades. In the end, Rain found the spirits of the tribe leaders and soon used the necessary skills to absorb their knowledge.
Lvl 30: Soul Retrieval - Retrieves lost or fragmented aspects of a target's soul, facilitating healing and integration through spiritual journeying and soul retrieval techniques.
The skill Iron Fists leveled up.
The Berserker King's path leveled up.
The skill Counterflow technique leveled up.
The Berserker King's path leveled up.
…
Rain couldn't read the memories of the spirit of the second general that he killed in the first great war between humans and the magic people, but he felt his Experience and, knowledge, and essence being absorbed by his own spirit. It was nothing that he hadn't experienced before, but sensing the same knowledge from someone else's perspective was still useful.
"They can be used like this, huh?" Rain thought. "I guess the overseer is powerful because of this."
That was most likely the same thing that the overseer used to absorb the Experience and knowledge of those who passed away… Rain didn't know if that process would cleanse the spirits, and then the overseer would make them be reborn, but there was a small chance of it.
"All right, let's look for the souls of the other people that I didn't like," Rain said. "This should make things a bit easier for me and we need to make a good use for them as well, after all."
Rain was saving some mana with that process, even though it wasn't that massively efficient as he usually would do things. Still, he was fine with it… as long as it made his job just a bit easier, it was better than nothing.
"All right, this should be fine for now… it is time to prepare for the next mission," Rain thought he got the spirit of the third dragon god.
Level 5: Scalebreaker Technique (103) - Learn specialized combat maneuvers and techniques to penetrate dragon scales and armor effectively. Increase chances of breaking the dragon's scales by one percent per level.
Level 10: Dragonfire Resistance (103) Train to resist and endure the intense heat of dragon flames, reducing fire-based damage inflicted by dragon breath attacks.
Level 15: Draconic Intimidation (103) - Master the ability to project a commanding presence, intimidating dragons and disrupting their focus. Decreases the parameters of dragons in the area by one thousand points per level.
It was just as Elisabetha said… the Dragon Slayer Path limit was broken by itself. The path was truly weird, though… since all of the skills and the path level increased at the same time now… at least that made things work the way Rain liked, as efficiently as possible.
"It has been one month since the previous mission… and the machine gods didn't do anything," Elisabetha said when Rain headed to the next meeting. "Even if their sense of time is weird since they are old, this is too much. Shouldn't they have the probability path, too?"
"Probability doesn't work like that," Rain shrugged. "Without data, data analysis and probability are useless."
Although Rain said that, he was also a bit worried… the surveillance system of the machine gods should be better than that, after all. They should have noticed those changes on Earth… unless they still couldn't see Rain and the others as really dangerous yet, or the dragon god was still causing them a lot of trouble. Still, things were about to change, considering the power they had just obtained.
"Everyone is finally here, so we can start the meeting," Sealyn said. "We have gotten considerably stronger since the previous mission and thanks to the dragon slayer path, and we can become even stronger. In order to achieve that, I propose that we attack one of the enemy bases that supposedly has the first dragons stored."
Sealyn looked a bit too eager… although she couldn't join the operation and she should have been moving without putting too much strain on her body since her pregnancy was on her sixth month… that was probably the reason for her choice of words. She wanted to experience some action in one way or the other.
"I agree that we should do that… Getting stronger before the enemies have the chance to strike us back is the best option," Esmeralda added. "If we all make the dragon slayer path reach level one hundred, their powers won't be that insane against us anymore."
