Chapter 1388: Great
When Rain had the chance, he decided to scout ahead with the Remote Viewing. He felt like he was dying approaching the sun while looking for the bases, even though he wasn't actually seeing things with his real eyes.
After moving for a while, Rain was able to find one of the facilities that they were going to attack. From a distance, it looked like a round space station. But as Rain's eyes approached the thing, he soon found something almost invisible behind it. It was hard to see, but it seemed like a giant net that was many times bigger than the space station… probably tens of thousands of kilometers larger.
"The light is passing through… so isn't a device to capture the energy of the sun?" Rain thought.
Light can indeed be absorbed and used as an energy source in various ways. One of the most common examples is photosynthesis in plants, where light energy is absorbed by chlorophyll molecules and converted into chemical energy to fuel the plant's growth and metabolism.
Photovoltaic cells, commonly known as solar cells, absorb light energy and convert it directly into electrical energy through the photovoltaic effect. This technology is widely used in solar panels to generate electricity for a variety of applications, from powering homes to spacecraft.
While heat seemed like the best way to absorb energy from a sun… maybe it wasn't that efficient to absorb light as well. Regardless, Rain confirmed what the enemies were doing there.
"I can't see any energy being transmitted. I can't sense large amounts of energy in those facilities either," Rain said. "They aren't storing, and they aren't transmitting…"
"I feel some energy coming from the sun," Elisabetha said.
"No shit, Sherlock," Rain said.
"I mean corrupt energy. Some things are in the sun," Elisabetha said. "Living things. It should be pretty obvious what they are."
Elisabetha was getting angry… unlike Rain, who had some wild gut instincts when it comes to trouble, Elisabetha had the same to find first dragons… A while ago, Rain and his friends found traces of the first dragons in Mercury and Venus, but he didn't think that the first dragons would withstand leaving in an actual sun.
Landing on a real sun would pose insurmountable challenges for any living being due to the extreme conditions present. The surface temperature of the sun can reach tens of thousands of degrees Celsius, making it inhospitable to any known form of life. Additionally, the intense radiation emitted by the sun would quickly fry and destroy any organic matter.
"To withstand such extreme conditions, a living being would require an array of resistances and adaptations that are currently beyond the capabilities of any known life form. The ability to withstand temperatures far exceed those found on Earth's surface.
This would require a biological or technological solution to prevent the body from burning up upon contact with the sun's surface," Sakaki suddenly appeared and then said. "Protection against the intense radiation emitted by the sun, which can damage DNA and cause severe radiation sickness. This could involve advanced shielding materials or biological mechanisms to neutralize harmful radiation.
The ability to harness and utilize the immense energy present on the sun's surface. This would require specialized organs or mechanisms capable of converting solar energy into a usable form without being overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of energy available."
"Who called you here?" Rain asked.
"Seara asked Iori to send me to help," Sakaki said. "Anyway, beings would need pressure tolerance as well, thanks to the gravitational pull and extreme regenerative abilities, which we know that dragons are known for."
It had been a while since the group had seen fire dragons, but the ones that would withstand such a place probably were the cream of the crop from their ranks. The group didn't consider that they would fight the enemies in such conditions, but it was too late to retreat now… Besides, it was a golden chance for Elisabetha to become stronger and the dragon slayer path to level up as well.
"All of the people that came this time have dark metal weapons, and with the power of that skill, this should be feasible," Rain thought. "They will suffer a bit, but they will have to endure it."
Level 25: Dragon's Bane Weaponry - Craft or wield specialized weapons infused with materials that enhance damage against dragons. Each level increases the efficiency of those weapons by ten percent. When using dragon-based materials, the attack increases by twenty percent per level.
It was time to test if that skill would be truly useful as the description made it out to be… Rain told everyone to get ready using Telekinesis since he would teleport in half an hour. While some would argue that going as soon as possible would be better, the tension building up would help them as well.
"Be ready to unleash hell," Rain said. "Use your best attacks as soon as possible since I will connect the pocket dimension to the facilities. The leaders of each group should inform me when they want to retreat, so stay close to the landing spot. At the same time, once we start retreating, all the other groups should prepare to do the same. Otherwise, you will be overwhelmed by the enemies."
"What if we run out of mana against the enemies that might come from the sun?" Terra asked.
"You can leave most of them to me, just focus on countering their attacks," Rain said. "You might want to use them to destroy the facilities as well."
Terra and everyone else nodded, so Rain went to search for the other facilities… it didn't take long since they were all rotating the sun… but that star was massive. Rain would have to spend a lot more mana to connect so many places far away together…"
"By my calculations, considering your spatial magic levels and the mana at your disposal… it seems that it won't be enough to return home," Sakaki said.
"Great…" Rain said.
