Chapter 1387: Sun's energy
"Hmm, this kind of formation is quite weird…" Seara said while looking around.
Maybe it was just a coincidence, but Sealyn split the groups in a very unusual way. The first group had Rain, Terra, Seara, Annie, and Danny. The second group had Jori, Reca, and their kids, and the third group had Branden, their kids, and Asche and Liss.
The fourth group had Roan, Leiah, Dana, Kei, and Gila, the fifth group was being led by Regis and his three bodyguards, and the final group was led by Orzlan and the strongest warriors of the second zone of the prison… naturally, each group also had thousands of warriors at their side as well.
Everyone noticed that the groups were split in an unusual way, but no one said anything about it. In a way, they wanted to compete with each other in order to see which group would finish the job first. That could cause some problems, but Sealyn should have imagined that…
"You guys, luck is the worst, huh?" Rain asked when he approached the members of his squad who had been with him since he defeated Hardt. "I guess you guys are going to keep at it until you die fighting alongside me."
Rain's remark caused a chuckle from the members of his squad, but underneath the laughter, there was a sense of camaraderie and determination. They understood the risks of standing by Rain's side in battles against powerful opponents, yet they chose to do so willingly, driven by a mixture of loyalty, trust, and perhaps a hint of recklessness.
Despite the gravity of their situation, they found solace and strength in each other's company. For them, facing adversity together was not just a duty but also a testament to their unwavering bond as comrades in arms. So, while Rain's comment may have carried a hint of grim reality, it was also a reminder of the unbreakable spirit that bound them together.
Besides, fighting alongside him was also pretty exciting. It always made them feel that they could do a bit more and push themselves harder.
"Everyone is ready," Sealyn said. "Since the return might make you endure the headache, you should go slowly towards the destination. You need to be in top form in order to do your job properly. Don't cause too much trouble for the mothers."
"Yes, ma'am," Rain said. "Please don't hit me too much if I fail on this task. Otherwise, you might be guilty of domestic abuse."
Despite his lighthearted tone, Rain understood the gravity of the situation. The prospect of enduring intense headaches and straining his mind with the use of space magic wasn't something he took lightly. While he was willing to push himself to achieve their goals, he also recognized the potential consequences of overexertion.
He knew that while healing magic could repair physical injuries, there were limits to its effectiveness, especially when it came to the delicate balance of the mind and spirit.
Overusing his mana and subjecting himself to constant strain could potentially cause lasting damage to his mental faculties and spiritual well-being, consequences that even the most powerful healing magic might not be able to fully heal.
After everyone had been moved to Iori's pocket dimension, Rain finally began to move. First of all, he went to check the gems that he had left on the planets that he had left behind after talking with the spirit, and he confirmed that they were still there. Their efficiency improved a bit alongside the Gemini path, so Rain had a bit more mana to use now.
"The machine gods sure are being lax… how they didn't notice this?" Rain thought.
The most obvious explanation was that they were too busy… or perhaps that losing that much mana in one of the planets under their control wasn't a huge deal for them. That was as useful as it was worrisome…
After collecting the gems, Rain began to move to the destination. Unlike before, his space magic skills reached a point where he could move between the planets without feeling much of a headache, only a short discomfort, so he only took pauses of ten minutes before moving. Leaving gems behind in the places where he could seem like a good idea, but Rain decided not to test his luck.
After moving around like that for around twenty hours, Rain realized that he was starting to approach their destination… the temperature in the planets was starting to increase, and they were starting to look more desert-like and empty of signs of life. At the same time, they were approaching a large sun in the distance that was getting bigger and bigger.
"How the hell were they able to build bases close to such a star… and why?" Elisabetha asked.
"It is probably because they used that metal that uses mana to get harder," Rain said. "One of the aspects of reality is energy, so they should be collecting energy from that star as well…"
Rain thought about the enigma of the machine gods' utilization of the energy from the nearby sun. It was an interesting puzzle, one that hinted at their advanced technological prowess yet also raised questions about their limitations.
Harnessing the energy of a star, like a sun, was a hallmark of an incredibly advanced civilization. It required mastery over the fundamental forces of the universe and the ability to manipulate vast amounts of energy with precision and control. Yet, despite their apparent technological superiority, it seemed that even the machine gods hadn't achieved this feat.
This realization intrigued Rain. It served as a reminder that the machine gods were not omnipotent beings but rather entities with their own constraints and limitations. They were undoubtedly powerful, but they were not without their vulnerabilities and shortcomings.
As Rain contemplated the implications of this discovery, he couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity. He was eager to uncover the secrets behind the machine gods' utilization of the sun's energy, knowing that it could provide valuable insights into their capabilities.
