Chapter 3: CHAPTER 3: GOOD NEWS!

SYSTEM ONLINE!

THE HOST HAS +1 MESSAGE

Letting out a yawn, Raizel slowly opened his eyes. They were slightly out of focus; his newborn vision was only a little better than other babies'. After rubbing his tiny hands over his eyes to regain focus, Raizel was pleasantly surprised.

Seeing the screen in front of him, memories from his past life flooded in like a broken dam. The translucent screen before him had a deep purple hue, distorting the color of the ceiling. Its golden border slowly rotated clockwise. However, the message in the center of the screen was what intrigued Raizel the most.

He recalled memories he had long thought lost. Back to his days as a human on Earth, Raizel used to watch many Japanese cartoons that used this mechanism (system) to assist the protagonists' growth.

The system screen was divided into several tabs, but only one was available. The locked tabs were an even deeper shade of purple, with a red padlock symbol in the center.

With a thought, the 'status' tab took over the entire screen.

[Status: In this tab, the host can track their progress.]

[Name: Raizel

Age: 6 days

Height: 50cm

Weight: 3.2kg

Soul Base: Weak soul (host used all of their soul base to refine the Transcendent gu)

Core Grade: Deep red

Status: Slight hunger, healthy, excited]

"Then this gu turned into a system! To think that such deep memories can still affect my present. Heh."

Raizel was excited for the future! In his possession was the most special gu ever created. With the ability to grow and evolve alongside Raizel, this gu was

the perfect tool to take him to the top of the world.

Even though Raizel was excited, he remained calm. Babbling and laughing would only wake his mother, and the gods know how much she deserves to rest.

Mentally clicking on the envelope symbol in the top right corner, a message appeared in the center of the screen.

[Congratulations! The host has just completed a passive mission: Awaken your mana core. As a reward, you received: +20 guts gu; knowledge of the common language; +1000 mission points.

The rewards will be sent directly to the inventory.]

As soon as Raizel closed the message, a chest symbol appeared next to the messages. Opening it, Raizel saw several small squares arranged in an 8x8 grid, resembling a chessboard. Only two squares (slots) were used, and with no sign in sight, it was easy for Raizel to deduce that the mission points were in one of the locked tabs.

Without much thought, Raizel consumed the 20 guts gu.

These gu were consumable and extremely rare, only found at the base of Dang Hun Mountain. 20 of them would be about 1/5 of an immortal essence stone if sold regularly. However, as they were difficult to acquire, their price would be many times higher.

Feeling his soul grow stronger, Raizel decided to experiment with his soul sense. Before, he couldn't see through walls and had a tiny range, only able to sense within a room. Now, however, his senses could reach each member of his family within the house. He couldn't see the details of the soul, only a humanoid form with a unique soul signature.

Each soul was unique, developing the more one increased their understanding of the world and of oneself. They didn't gain special abilities, but rather distinct appearances.

Being the closest, Elina's soul was the most visible. The signature of her soul was incredibly bright and comforting, like a sun in spring.

With his updated soul sense and his new perception of the magical energy known as mana, Raizel managed to 'see' a thin, mysterious mist. It wasn't the energy of the world, not entirely. What Raizel 'saw' without realizing it was a fraction of Mogar's will that existed in the energy of the world!

Turning his attention back to the inventory, Raizel wished, and the knowledge of the language, which took the form of a book, was automatically transferred to his mind. The influx of information made him let out a soft grunt that woke Elina up.

As she turned toward Raizel's side, Elina showed a smile that would make the sun jealous. Seeing her son's big eyes shine as she looked at him, Elina was stunned. 'My baby is the cutest!' she thought.

"Good morning, my baby. Were you missing your mommy?" Seeing Raizel gesture with his little arms, Elina got up and picked him up in her arms. "You must be hungry, right? Let mommy feed you." Understanding what Elina was saying only made her voice sweeter. 'If things keep going like this, I'll end up getting diabetes!'

Raizel didn't hesitate and started eating. 'I've destroyed so many lives, I'm not going to worry about ethics and morals now!'

Finishing feeding him, Elina began preparing for the day.

The day went almost the same way as the previous one. The only difference was Raizel understanding what they were talking about.

After everyone left to do their things and Elina sat in the rocking chair with Raizel again, he began paying close attention to all the task magic Elina cast with her magical senses (task magic is the level 0 of spells).

Raizel could finally test the qualitative difference his senses had undergone. Using his soul sense and focusing on the mysterious mist, Raizel watched how Elina's spells interacted with the mist.

He hadn't paid much attention when Raaz used magic, as he was too focused on learning about the family dynamics and how each one behaved.

When Elina made a circle with her left hand's index and middle fingers and said, "Brezza!" Raizel saw how the mist seemed to understand the will contained within the small amount of mana.

Raizel realized how much easier it was to cast a spell like that compared to activating an assassination move. Gestures and words were nothing but ways to express the caster's will. Mana seemed to be both the medium to carry the mage's will and the source of the connection between the spell and the caster. The mist processed the will and sent a little of itself to convert the energy into the element.

The process was so fascinating that Raizel didn't even notice time passing. When he realized he was already in bed, the exhaustion from keeping his soul sense active for so long took its toll.

Raizel slept like a baby that night.
