Chapter 198: Chapter 198 Railgun vs. Four Violet Flames Formation

"Thanks for the reminder."

Logan raised his head, and faint sparks of electricity flickered over his body. As he looked up the slope of the large rooftop, his gaze swept over Hiruzen, Orochimaru, and the Sound Four. He then focused his attention on the corner where Sakon was stationed.

"What's that guy up to?"

The commotion outside naturally drew the attention of those inside the barrier. Among the four in the corners, Kidomaru, with his dark skin and six grotesque arms, looked on with interest at Logan outside the barrier, "Looks like another one who's about to make a fool of himself."

The only flaw in maintaining the Four Violet Flames Formation was that it required four people, and the casters couldn't move during the process. In theory, Hiruzen could kill the Four Sound Ninja from the inside, but Orochimaru's plan obviously wouldn't have such an obvious loophole.

To prevent the Third Hokage from taking action, the Sound Four had sealed off the parts of the barrier facing inward, creating a closed triangular space. This turned the entire Four Violet Flames Formation into a true no-holds-barred battlefield.

While Kidomaru mocked him, the relatively more composed Tayuya and Jirobo stayed silent, focusing on maintaining the barrier. Sakon and Ukon exchanged a glance, feeling an uncomfortable sensation rise within them. It was strange, they felt that person outside was watching them all this time.

"That last move was quite flashy, but it's still far from breaking the barrier." Sakon and Ukon sneered. They're not known for their patience. The cold, indifferent gaze from outside felt like a dangerous knife pointing directly at them, fueled their irritation, and they arrogantly glared back, "Hey, you out there! Are you seriously thinking of breaking through this barrier? Didn't you see someone get burned to death trying to rush in earlier? Don't be ridiculous, it's really stupid, hahaha..."

"Are you sure about that?"

Their scornful words drifted into the ears of the ANBU, who were just about to glare back in anger when they heard a calm reply.

The tone was so composed that it made everyone's hearts skip a beat. The leading ANBU's face grew stern, as he could sense the killing intent spreading in the air.

Logan continued to stare at Sakon and Ukon at the corner of the barrier, with a slight smile on his face. His mind then flashed back to the image of Aida's arm, its cells corroded and decayed, and his smile faded. At this moment, the electricity around his body surged more violently. Logan then sheathed his sword with a swift motion, then spin a kunai between his fingers.

"Sakon and Ukon, you're dead."

Hearing their names suddenly called out, Sakon and Ukon were momentarily stunned. They didn't quite understand this conversation. Sure, the two sides were enemies, locked in a life-and-death struggle, but to start off with such a direct threat… it felt abrupt. Moreover, they wondered how did this guy know their names.

The increasingly icy stare from Logan made Sakon and Ukon's hair stand on end. They glanced at the kunai in his hand, but their expressions remained defiant, with bold grins on their faces, "Hahaha, what did you just say?"

"Be careful not to get distracted. Maintain the barrier." Jirobo, the big guy, suddenly reminded them. This gave Sakon and Ukon a way to vent their unease, 'That's right, must be some sort of bluff, trying to make our barrier falter. But how ridiculous! There's no way that would work. Truly laughable...'

"Don't worry."

Immediately, the calm and monotonous voice echoed once more, indifferent as ever, "Keep your seals steady and maintain your barrier."

Zzzzttt...

The pure energy of the electricity surged to its critical point, the sound stabbing into the eardrums. People nearby squinted, forced to shield their eyes from the increasingly intense blue light that began to overshadow the once gentle white glow. The rooftop was now bathed in a cold, almost surreal light that blurred the lines between day and night. Sakon and Ukon's unease grew as the unusual Lightning Chakra became more unstable, gathering and dancing across Logan's arm and the kunai, coiling around it in rings like a living entity.

"I'm going to break it."

The feeling of unease deepened...

"Raiden Hattori, what are you planning?"

A cold voice rang out, cutting through the eerie crackling of the lightning. Despite the strange, unsettling resonance in the air, the voice remained clear and discomforting.

From above, where he was facing off against Hiruzen, Orochimaru glanced down with displeasure. Nearby stood Hiruzen, having shed his outer robe to reveal his combat attire.

'Raiden Hattori, why does this person appear here...' Orochimaru's eyes darkened as they locked onto Logan.

Four years ago, the two had crossed paths in the underground of the Otogakure for various reasons. Although Orochimaru had handed over the 'Void' ring and Logan had taken the opportunity to steal a scroll with Forbidden Techniques, Logan had nearly been captured during his escape. During that time, Orochimaru also learned the intriguing information that Logan was a member of the Akatsuki.

'He's an undercover agent, so there's no reason for him to reveal himself at a time like this. It can't be on the Akatsuki's orders either...' This unexpected appearance didn't seem to hold much sway over the current situation. Orochimaru glanced at the lightning swirling around Logan's right hand and the kunai, 'That Ninjutsu looked dangerous.'

Licking his lips, Orochimaru revealed a slight smile. Back then, they had kept each other's secrets out of mutual understanding, but things were different now. The fears Orochimaru once had had naturally faded, while Logan's concerns likely remained, "Don't get in my way."

Orochimaru said hoarsely, while glancing deliberately at Hiruzen, "The Hokage of your village is right next to you."

Logan paused for a moment, feeling the kunai's rigid texture as the constant flow of electricity through it produced a faint vibration. He gripped the weapon firmly in his hand and said in a calm tone, "If you don't want me interfering, hand over your subordinates."

After hearing this, Orochimaru's eyes became even more gloomy. He knew Logan was referring to Sakon and Ukon, but he couldn't fathom what grudge had developed between them. Regardless, he knew this wasn't a time to negotiate.

After all, it was impossible for the Four Violet Flames Formation to be removed before he killed Hiruzen.

Orochimaru looked at Logan coldly. He was completely in no mood to accept a second threat from him.

"It seems you still haven't figured out the situation you're in." Orochimaru's patience was wearing thin, and his words were now laced with killing intent.

Hiruzen stood by Orochimaru's side, his face more solemn than ever as he prepared to battle his former student. However, the sudden shift in the situation left him momentarily puzzled.

The conversation unfolding before him was riddled with confusion, but Hiruzen chose to maintain his battle-ready state. He knew he could question everything later, 'For now, the most important thing was...'

His gaze involuntarily shifted to the center of the flashing lightning below-

'This pressure…' The information about the matters at the Land of the Moon flashed in Hiruzen's mind.

"So that's how it is. Then, there's no more room for negotiation." Bathed in the blue light, Logan spoke calmly. He slightly pulled his right hand back, the electromagnetic force he had been channeling breaking the static equilibrium. The unstoppable surge of energy erupted like a terrifying storm, triggering the battle instincts of everyone present.

An ominous feeling pierced through like a needle. Someone broke out in a cold sweat as the lightning intensified even further.

"Raiden Hattori, you..." Orochimaru's yellow, snake-like pupils were covered by the overwhelming power of the lightning that seemed to obliterate all evil.

"Oh, whatever."

Logan flicked his right hand, and the light suddenly exploded. He let the energy flow from his fingers, and as the kunai flew, it unleashed a tremendous roar against the purple barrier.

Since he had come this far, there was no turning back. The world around him lost all color in the face of the unstoppable orange trajectory. Logan himself was engulfed in the blinding, turbulent, deafening chaos as the Chakra transformed into lightning, following the kunai's path… just like his answer.
